Based on the core competence of English discipline: According to the latest English Curriculum Criteria of Secondary Education

issued in 2017, the lesson should put emphasis on the comprehensive cultivation of students’ language ability, cultural consciousness,

thinking quality and learning ability. This means that the teacher is responsible for helping students improve their language ability,

know the difference between Chinese culture and English culture, find the person who they admire or like and think about what

qualities they should from the person.

Adhere to the six elements of activity-based approach to English learning: The activity-based approach to English learning

contains six elements: theme context, text type, language knowledge, culture knowledge, language skills and learning skills. In the

reading and writing class, the teaching activities should be designed around specific theme and text, and then in the process of

solving problems, students will acquire language knowledge and culture knowledge by using language skills and learning skills .

Consequently, they will have a deep understanding of their target language, attach importance to the text, compare different cultures

and improve their writing skills.

Focus on the three levels of activity-based approach to English learning: There’ re three learning activity types that respectively

are learning and comprehension, application and practice, transferring and innovation (Wang Qiang&Mei Deming, 2018). Therefore,

through the three organic levels, this teaching plan should be responsible for guiding students to improve their language skills and

critical thinking skills.

Depend on the textual knowledge to develop students’ textual awareness: The English Curriculum Criteria of Secondary

Education indicates that text is the basis of teaching. In this lesson plan, the teacher should pay attention to developing students’

textual awareness by depending on textual knowledge. Only in proper context, can students have a better understanding of the

knowledge instead of learning words or phase in isolated sentences.
