Unit 6 I’m Going to Study Computer Science.It’s my great privilege to present my lesson plan here. The lesson I’m going to talk about is unit 6 I’m going to study computer science. I’ll interpret my lesson plan from the following aspects: First, I’d like to analyze the teaching material and learners.This lesson is chosen from the section A of unit 6, Book 8A, PEP Junior English. The topic of this unit is life goals. The main task for ss is to talk about future intentions. Even though ss have learned many professions before, they may still feel hard to talk about their dream jobs by using the simple future tense. Thus, enough practice will be organized to help ss learn some professions and the future tense.Based on the analysis above and the new curriculum standard, I set the following teaching aims: 1.Knowledge aim. After the class, ss will understand the function of simple future tense and the basic meaning of some professions and the key sentence structures, such as pilot, scientist, pianist, violinist, driver, cook, engineer, computer programmer, what do you want to be when you grow up? How are you going to do that? Where are you going to move? When are you going to start?2.Ability aim. By the end of this lesson, ss will be better able to talk about future intentions by using the newly learned professions and future tense.3.Emotional aim. During the class, ss interest in learning English will be increased by talking about their dream jobs. And they will know that they should do sth now to pursue their dreams. Next, let’s focus on the key point and difficult point.The key point is to talk about their life goals and how to realize the dreams by using “want to be”and “be going to”.The difficult point is to overcome the limitation of vocabulary to describe their colorful dreams.To achieve the objectives above, I’ll adopt audio-lingual approach, communicative approach and situational teaching method. And ss will learn through cooperation, communication, discussion and imitation.Now, I’d like to describe my teaching procedure.Step 1 is leading in. At the beginning of the class, I’ll play a song, Be What You Wanna Be to attract ss’ attention.doctor, actor, lawyer or a singerwhy not president, be a dreameryou can be just the one you wanna bepolice man, fire fighter or a post manwhy not something like your old manyou can be just the one you wanna beThere are a lot of professions in the lyrics, so ss will be required to write down the professions they can hear from the song. It can stimulate ss’ previous knowledge, arouse their interest and lead them to the topic naturally.Next, let’s move on to step 2 presentation.First, based on the former activity, I’ll encourage some ss to go to the front of the classroom to do actions about jobs according to my instruction and other ss will guess the jobs. So, here, ss will learn some new words, such as 板书computer programmer, cook, engineer, violinist, pilot, pianist, scientist, driverAfter that, I’ll talk with ss about their dream jobs. Some questions will be asked like “What do you want to be when you grow up?”,“How are you going to do that?”So, ss can learn the main sentence structures here. 板书What do you want to be when you grow up? How are you going to do that?In this step, ss’ve learned some new professions and two sentence structures. So, next let’s move on to the first listening..I’ll lead ss to read the given material to make sure they know what they are supposed to do. While ss listen for the 1st time, ss need to fill in some blanks about how ss are going to realize their dream jobs. As for the 2nd time, ss will match ss’ dream jobs with how they are going to do that.After this listening, it’s time for speaking.Ss’ll to role play the conversation in the picture at first. Then, ss’ll work in pairs to discuss their dream jobs.Then, I’ll lead ss to the next listening.First, ss’ll be led to look at the picture in 2a and guess what Chen Han is going to do. So, with this question, they’ll listen to the conversation for the 1st time and check if they guess right. Then, ss will read the chart about Chen Han’s plans for the future and listen for the 2nd time to fill in the chart. When they finish, I’ll check the answers by asking questions like What does Chen Han want to be when he grow up? Where is he going to move? How is he going to become a teacher? and When is he going to start? By answering these questions, ss will practice “be going to” at sentence level and learn another two sentence structures 板书Where is he going to move? When is he going to start?According to my example, I’ll lead ss to the next step, speaking.They’ll ask and answer questions about Chen Han’s plans according to the chart in 2b.Up to now, ss have learned some new professions and 4 sentence structures to talk about their dream jobs.So, it’s time to make a summary.ss will be required to do a survey according to a form like Chen Han’s plans. They will work in groups of 4.
