could／couldn’t 常用于过去时态的句子中，其后接动词原形。

如：He couldn't send emails four years ago. 四年前，他不会发电子邮件。

注意：couldn’t = could not ，02．Now he can do many things. 现在他会做许多事情。

（教材P36）can 为情态动词，后接动词原形，其过去式为could。

在将含有can的句子改为否定句时，在其后加否定词not；改为一般疑问句时，将can提到句首，句末用问号。

如：Liu Tao can play basketball. 刘涛会打篮球。
