一、连词的定义
连接词与词、短语与短语、句子与句子的词，叫连词。例如： It is neither too cold nor too hot in spring.（neither…nor连接
两个词） You can read either in the morning or in the afternoon.
[解题技巧]
以此立意的试题考查考生能否正确使用并列连词and,or,both..and, either..or, not only..but also, neither..nor等。其中后三组连词并列 主语时，谓语动词与最靠近的主语保持一致。

so用作并列连词时主要表示结果，意为“因此”“所以”。如： I was tired, so I went to bed earlier. 我累了所以早点睡了。 He took my shoes, so I couldn’t leave the house. 他把鞋拿走了，我出 不了门。 按英语习惯，表示结果的so不能与表示原因的because套用，在使用 时只能保留其中的一个。如： 那是一个难题，所以我最后才回答。 误：Because that was a difficult question, so I answered it last. 正：That was a difficult question, so I answered it last. 正：Because that was a difficult question, I answered it last.
2. 引导状语从句的从属连词
While可引导状语从句，表让步和时间；
while还可连接并列句，表前后对比。
I do every single bit of housework while he just does the dishes now and again.

连词是一种虚词, 在句中不单独充当句 子成分，只起连接词与词、短语与短语以 及句子与句子的作用。在汉语里，通常可 以把两个或更多的句子连起来而不用连词， 这在英语中一般是不行的，句子只要一超 过两个，通常就要用连词连接。连词一般 不重读，分为并列连词和从属连词。并列 连词引出并列句，从属连词引出主从复合 句。

并列连词是用来连接语法地位相同的单词、 短语以及句子的连词。并列连词主要分为表示并 列关系、转折关系、因果关系及选择关系的并列 连词。
②I don’t like bread or milk for breakfast. 我早餐不喜欢吃面包，喝牛奶。 ③Would you like some tea or coffee? 你喜欢喝茶还是咖啡？ (2)否定句中两部分都有否定词时用and连接。例如： Bill has no brothers and no sisters. =Bill has no brothers or sisters. 比尔没有兄弟姐妹。
