英文报纸的阅读技巧和方法阅读理解是当今英语教学中较为重要的一环,同时也是高考复习中的重中之重。
但是,有许多学生对如何提高自己的阅读能力却是茫然无措。
现今中学生的一个通病是阅读量太小,局限于对课本的精耕细作。
碰上涉及现代科技和现代生活的文章,不是内容看不懂,就是体裁没见过。
这种现象的结症在于尚未跳出课文阅读的圈子,尚未摆脱应试的阴影。
殊不知,课本只是为学习者提供了一个蓝本,要牢固熟练地掌握课文中出现的词汇、句型、语法,还要就同一话题增加几倍甚至几十倍的阅读量,力求在鲜活的语言材料中去巩固已学过的知识。
坚持大量阅读是改善上述情形的有效途径之一。
咱们不妨从阅读英文报纸NIE(Newspa per in English)做起,因为一份英文报纸几乎囊括了高考中所有类型的阅读材料,况且,每年高考中出现的新词汇都是在报刊中首先出现的。
所以,如果一个学生长期坚持阅读英文报纸,那么,在高考英语阅读中,他(她)一定能游刃有余了。
这就是所谓的博观而约取,厚积而薄发的道理。
下面,我就谈谈英文报纸的阅读技巧和方法。
英文报纸(Newspaper in English)的阅读是当前英语教学改革中的一大趋势。
实践证明,通过阅读英语报纸,学生能够有效的巩固和运用所学词汇,句法结构,提高阅读能力,培养语感,做到“学以致用”,运用报纸的新闻性和时尚性能激发学生的好奇心和兴趣。
而且,英语报纸包涵的内容是学生在其他中文媒体上了解过的,这就为他们阅读有关内容的英文报纸打下了基础,使他们能够比较容易地阅读英语报纸。
目前市面上可以买到或订到的英语报纸很多,如中国版的China Daily(中国日报),Shangha i Daily (上海日报),English Weekly(英语周刊),21st Century(21世纪英语报),21 st Century Teens Senior Edition(21世纪英语报学生版)等;还有外国版的报纸,如Th e Times(泰晤士报),New York Times(纽约时报),Washington Post(华盛顿邮报)等。

创造性地开发和利用现实生活中鲜活的英语学习资源,积极利用音像、广播、电视、书报杂志、网络信息等,拓展学生学习和运用英语的渠道。
笔者所任教的学校位于东部沿海发达地区,初中学生的英语高于全国平均水平、词汇量达到一定量的积累。
英语教学如果仅仅局限于规定使用的课本教材,显然不能满足教学的需要。
因此,根据实际情况,积极利用英文报刊杂志来补充和加强英语教学是必要的。
一、选择适合学情的报刊杂志首先,所选择的英文报刊杂志应有趣味性。
初中生为13-15岁的儿童,因此,所选择的英文报刊杂志需符合学生的年龄特征,能满足儿童对事物的好奇心和兴趣。
这就要求报刊杂志中的文章生动有趣,文中配有彩色的插图和照片,对学生有吸引力。
其次,所选择的英文报刊杂志应有时代性。
所选文章需贴近学生、贴近生活、贴近时代。
只有贴近学生实际的事物才有吸引力并引起学生的共鸣。
通过阅读这样的文章,学生在增长英语知识、提高英语水平的同时,加强了与外界的联系,紧跟时代的步伐。
另外,所选择的英文报刊杂志应有知识性。
要求所选文章应涉及丰富的题材,篇幅和难度适中,既可以让基础弱的学生读得懂,找到学习英语的信心、保持学习英语的兴趣,又让词汇量大、英语基础好的学生感觉到挑战性并得以扩大词汇量,提高阅读能力。
同时,阅读内容与教材和中考紧密联系,对教材起到补充和拓展作用并能巩固一些中考词汇的掌握和运用。

对于初中学生来说,要完成学习任务,老师同学和自身的督促和检查是不可或缺的。
