01SPECIFICATIONSilverStone DECATHLON DA800Switching Power SupplyWith Active PFC PS/2 Modular 800W1. GeneralThis is the specification of Model DA800; it is intended to describe the functions and performance of the subject power supply. This PS/2 800 watts switching power supply with Active PFC (Power Factor Correction) capability, meets EN61000-3-2 and equips Full Range Input features.2. AC Input Specifications2-1. AC Input Voltage, Frequency and Current ( Rating: 100V-240Vac, 47-63Hz,12-6A )The power supply must operate within all specified limits over the input voltage range in Table 1.Harmonics distortion of up to 10% THD must not cause the power supply to go out of specified limits.Table 1 - AC Input Voltage and Frequency2-2. AC Inrush CurrentThe power supply must meets inrush requirements of any rated AC voltage, during turn on at any phase of voltage, during a single cycle AC dropout condition, during repetitive On/Off cycling of AC, and over the specified temperature range. The peak inrush current shall be less than the rating of its critical components (including input fuse, bulk rectifiers, and surge limiting device).2-3. Input Power Factor Correction ( Active PFC)The power factor at full load shall be 0.99 at nominal input voltage.2-4. Input Current HarmonicsWhen the power supply is operated in 90-264Vac of Sec. 2.1, the input harmoniccurrent drawn on the power line shall not exceed the limits set by EN61000-3-2 class "D" standards. The power supply shall incorporate universal power input with active power factor correction.2-5. AC Line DropoutAn AC line dropout of 17mS or less shall not cause any tripping of control signals or protection circuits. If the AC dropout lasts longer than 17mS the power supplyshould recover and meet all turn on requirements. The power supply shall meet the regulation requirement over all rated AC voltages, frequencies, and output loading conditions. Any dropout of the AC line shall not cause damage to the power supply. An AC line dropout is defined as a drop in AC line to 0VAC at any phase of the AC line for any length of time.<-02DECATHLON DA8003. DC Output Specification3-1. Output Current / LoadingThe following tables define two power and current rating. The power supply shall meet both static and dynamic voltage regulation requirements for minimum load condition.Table 5 - Output Loads Range 1 Note Maximum continuous total DC output power should not exceed 800 W.3-2. DC Voltage Regulation, Ripple and NoiseThe power supply output voltages must stay within the following voltage limits whenoperating at steady state and dynamic loading conditions. All outputs are measured with reference to the return remote sense (ReturnS) signal. The +5V,+3.3V, +12V, -12V and +5VSB outputs are measure at the power supply connectors references to ReturnS. The +5V and +3.3V is measured at its remote sense signal (+5VS, +3.3VS) located at the signal connector.Ripple and Noise shall be measured using the following methods:a) Measurements made differentially to eliminate common-mode noise b) Ground lead length of oscilloscope probe shall be 0.25 inch.c) Measurements made where the cable connectors attach to the load.d) Outputs bypassed at the point of measurement with a parallel combination of 10uF tantalum capacitor in parallel with a 0.1uF ceramic capacitors.e) Oscilloscope bandwidth of 0 Hz to 20MHz.f ) Measurements measured at locations where remote sense wires are connected.g) Regulation tolerance shall include temperature change, warm up drift and dynamic load3-3. Timing RequirementsThese are the timing requirements for the power assembly operation. The outputvoltages must rise from 10% to within regulation limits (T vout_rise ) within 5 to 70mS. The +5V, +3.3V and +12V output voltages should start to rise at about the same time. All outputs must rise monotonically. The +5V output needs to be greater than the +3.3V output during any point of the voltage rise. The +5V output must never be greater than the +3.3V output by more than 2.25V. Each output voltage shall reach regulation within 50 mS (T vout_on ) of each other during turn on of the power supply. Each output voltage shall fall out of regulation within 400 mS (T vout_off ) of each other during turn off. Figure 1 and figure 2 show the turn On and turn Off timing requirement. In Figure 2, the timing is shown with both AC and PSON# controlling the On/Off of the power supply.<-Table 11 - Turn On/Off Timing 03DECATHLON DA800Figure 2 : Turn On/Off Timing3-4. Remote On/Off Control : PSON#The PSON# signal is required to remotely turn on/off the power supply. PSON# is an active low signal that turns on the +5V, +3.3V, +12V and -12V power rails. Whenthis signal is not pulled low by the system, or left open, the outputs (except the+5VSB and V bias) turn off. This signal is pulled to a standby voltage by a pull-upresistor internal to the power supply.Table 13 - PWOK Signal Characteristic3-5. EfficiencyThe efficiency is specified at 50% and 20% loading conditions to help reduce system power consumption at typical system loading conditions.3-6. +5VSB (Standby)The +5VSB output is always on (+5V Standby) when AC power is applied and power switch is turned on.The +5VSB line is capable of delivering at a maximum of 3A for PC board circuit tooperate.044. ProtectionProtection circuits inside the power supply shall cause only the power supply's mainoutputs to shutdown. If the power supply latches off due to a protection circuit tripping, either a AC cycle OFF for 15 sec, or PSON# cycle HIGH for 1 sec must be able to restart the power supply.4-1. Over Current ProtectionThis power supply shall have current limit to prevent the +5V, +3.3V, and +12Voutputs from exceeding the values shown in table 14. The current limit shall not tripunder maximum continuous load or peak loading as described in Table 5. The powersupply shall latch off if the current exceeds the limit. The latch shall be cleared bytoggling the PSON# signal or by cycling the AC power. The power supply shall notbe damaged from repeated power cycling in this condition. The -12V and +5VSBoutputs shall be shorted circuit protected so that no damage can occur to the powersupply.Table 14 -Over Current protection4-2. Over Voltage ProtectionThe power supply shall shut down in a latch off mode when the output voltageexceeds the over voltagelimit shown in Table 4.Table 15 -Over Voltage protection.4-3. Short Circuit ProtectionThe power supply shall shut down in a latch off mode when the output voltage isshort circuit.5. Environmental Requirements5-1. Temperature05DECATHLON DA800 5-2. Humidity6. Agency Requirements6-1. Safety Certification.Table 16 -Safety Certification6-2. AC Input Leakage CurrentInput leakage current from line to ground will be less than 3.5mA rms. Measurementwill be made at 240 VAC and 60Hz.7. Reliability7-1. The maximum allowable power dissipation at any ambient temperature is given: P D(max)= (T J(max)-T A)/θJA, exceeding the maximum allowable power limit will result in excessive die temperature; thus, the regulator will go into thermal shutdown.ELECTRICAL SPECIFICATIONSSpecifications with standard type are for an Operating Junction Temperature of T J = 25°C only; limits applying over the full Operating Junction Temperature range are denoted by a “•”. Minimum and Maximum limits are guaranteed through test, design, or statistical correlation. Its value depends upon the application circuit. In general, linear regulator stability decreases with higher output currents. In applications where the SPX3819 is sourcing less current, a lower output capacitance may be sufficient. For example, a regulator outputting only 10mA, requires approximately half the capacitance as the same regulator sourcing 150mA.Bench testing is the best method for determining the proper type and value of the capacitor since the high frequency characteristics of electrolytic capacitors vary widely, depending on type and manufacturer. A high quality 2.2μF aluminum electrolytic capacitor works in most application circuits, but the same stability often can be obtained with a1μF tantalum electrolytic. With the SPX3819 adjustable version, the minimum value of output capacitance is a function of the output voltage. The value decreases with higher output voltages, since closed loop gain is increased.T YPICAL A PPLICATIONS C IRCUITSFor fixed voltage options only. A 10nF capacitor on the BYP pin will significantly reduce output noise, but it may be left unconnected if the output noise is not a major concern. The SPX3819 start-up speed is inverselyproportional to the size of the BYP capacitor.Applications requiring a slow rampup of the output voltage should use a larger CBYP. However, if a rapid turn-on is necessary, the BYP capacitor can be omitted. The SPX3819’s internal reference is available through the BYP pin.Figure 18 represents a SPX3819 standard application circuit. The EN (enable) pin is pulled high (>2.0V) to enable the regulator. To disable the regulator, EN < 0.4V.Fig. 18: Standard Application Circuit The SPX3819 in Figure 19 illustrates a typical adjustable output voltage configuration. Two resistors (R1 and R2) set the output voltage. The output voltage is calculated using the formula:VOUT = 1.235V x [1 + R1/R2]R2 must be >10kΩand for best results, R2 should be bet ween 22kΩ and 47kΩ.Fig. 19: Typical Adjustable Output Voltage ConfigurationMECHANICAL DIMENSIONS 8-PIN SOICNMECHANICAL DIMENSIONS(CONTINUED) 8-PIN 2X3DFNRECOMMENDED LAND PATTERN AND STENCIL8-PIN 2X3DFNMECHANICAL DIMENSIONS(CONTINUED) 5-PIN SOT-23REVISION HISTORY RevisionDate Description 2.0.008/23/12 Reformat of Datasheet Addition of SPX3819R2-L and SPX3819R2-L/TR part numbers 2.0.112/02/13 Added Storage Temperature Range and Junction Temperature in ABS MAX Ratings.2.0.205/20/14 Updated package drawings and corrected DFN-8 package marking information [ECN 1423-03 6/3/14] 2.0.308/31/16 Updated logo and Ordering Information table. 2.0.407/19/18 Update to MaxLinear logo.
