对话双方:Interviewer(I)面试官Applicant(A)求职者。

例1:Q:Would you please say something about yourself?(请你谈谈自己的情况好吗?)

或者:What can you tell me about yourself?(关于你自己,你能告诉我些什么?)

A:Do you want me to talk about my personal life or to say something about the job?

2:I:Give me asummary of your current job description.

A:I have been working as a computer programmer for five years. To be specific,I do system analysis, trouble shooting and provide software support.

3:Why should I hire you?(为什么我应该聘用你?)

A:With my strong academic background,I am capable and competent.

4:Why do you want to work for us?(你为什么想为我们工作?)

A:One reason that I would like to be employed with your firm is that you are dealing with important export trade.I wouldlook

5:What goal shave you set and how did you meet them?

A:I now wish to enter an office where the work requires greater individual responsibility and judgment than here, and where there is more opportunity for advancement.

6:I:What provide you with a sense of accomplishment.(什么会让你有成就感?)

A:Doing my best job for your company.(为贵公司竭力效劳。)

例7:I:How do you handle your failure?(你怎样对待自己的失败?)

A:None of us was born"perfect".I am sure I will be given a second chance to correct my mistake.

8:I:How do you normally handle criticism?(你通常如何处理别人的批评?)

A:Silence is golden.Just don‘t say anything;otherwise the situation could be come worse.I do,however, accept constructive criticism.

9:I:What is most important in your life right now?(眼下你生活中最重要的是什么?)

A:To get a job in my field is most important to me.To secure employment hopefully with your company.I hope to demonstrate my ability and talents in my field adequately.

10:I:How long would you like to stay with this company?(你会在本公司服务多久呢?)

A:I will stay as long as I can continue to learn and to grow in my field.

11:I:What range of pay-scale are you interested in?(你喜欢那一种薪水层次标准?)

A:Money is important, but the responsibility that goes along with this job is what interests me th emost.(薪水固然重要,但这工作伴随而来的责任更吸引我。)

例12:I:Do you know what’s involved in a position like this?

A:Yes.I know exactlywhat’s involved.I am a hardworker and will perform to the best of my ability."

面试时,着重考察应聘者“怎样表现自己(How it is performed)”。

(Professional Skill):

13:I:What make you think you would be a success in this position?

A:I graduated from Beijing University in 2003,and hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science. Therefore,I have a firm knowledge background in this field. My graduate school training combined with my internship should qualify me for this particular job.I am sure I will be successful.

14:I:How do you rate yourself as a professional?(你如何评估自己是位专业人员呢?)

A:With my strong academic background,I am capable and competent.I think you run it needs am an like me.

15:I:Why do you think you are qualified for this position?

A:I have finished three new projects, and I am sure I can apply my experience to this position.

16:I:Do you think you are the right person for the job?

A:Yes.Be cause I do believe that my qualifications and experience perfectly match what you are looking for.I have the experience you are looking for,and think I will be one of the be stin this field.

17:I:Why do you think you are qualified for this position?

A:I have spent the last 3 years working specially in this field.I think I can bring a lot of experience and knowledge with me.With my qualifications and experience,I feel I am hardworking, responsible and diligent in any project I undertake.Your organization could benefit from my analytical and interpersonal skills.

自我介绍时应该记住“3P原则”:Positive(自信),Personal(个性),Pertinent(中肯)。

所以回答要沉着、自信(Lacks confidence and poise),而不是心神不宁(is nervous andillatease)。

I‘d like to hear your opinion.(我很想听听你的意见。)

So far as that isc oncerned, you must have understood my determination.

1.BodyLanguage(肢体语言)

Most interviewers greet the applicant with a handshake.Make sure that your claspis firm.Being jittery about the interview can resultin cold, clammy hands, which create anegative impression. Therefore, make sure yourhands are warmand dry. Before leaving, try to find out exactly what action will follow the interview and when it will happen.Shakehands as you say good-bye and thank the interviewerf or spending time with you.

Don’t shakehand with the interviewer until he/she extends his/her hand.(人家伸手时才握手。)Don’t sit down until invited to do so by the interviewer.(人家未请,先别坐下。)

2.Eye Contact(眼神的交流)

Always maintain eye contact with the interviewer.Makeeye-contact with the interviewer during theinterview.Show that you are confident by looking straight at the person.

Fails to look interviewer in the eye不敢正视。

3.Active Listener(做一个积极的聆听者)

I…m grateful for your concern about the job at our company.

Thank you for your concern about our recruitment,We shall inform you as soon as we have made our decision.

We have known something abou tyou. You know,we have to interview several applicants we make our final decision.

There is not prepared for interview.(对面试无准备)。 Lacks planning for career;has no purpose or goals.(对自己的事业没有安排;没有目标和理想。)

Is unwilling to start at the bottom;expects too much too soon.(不愿从基层干起;要求太多。)

Has a poor personal appearance.(衣着形象不佳。)

Has limp,weak handshake.(握手时软弱无力。)

Don’t talk with your mouthfull.

Don’t blow your nose or use the tooth pick attable.

Job market)

1. So, tell me a little about yourself.

You don?t need to explain everything from birth to present day. Relevant facts about education, your career and your current life situation are fine.

2. Why are you looking (or why did you leave you last job)?

This should be a straightforward question to answer, but it can trip you up. Presumably you are looking for a new job (or any job) because you want to advance your career and get a position that allows you to grow as a person and an employee. It?s not a good idea to mention money here, it can make you sound mercenary. And if you are in the unfortunate situation of having been downsized, stay positive and be a***rief as pos***le about it. If you were fired, you?ll need a good explanation. But once again, stay positive.

3. Tell me what you know about this company.

Do your homework before you go to any interview. Whether it?***eing the VP of marketing or the mailroom clerk, you should know about the company or business you?re going to work for. Has this company been in the news lately? Who are the people in the company you should know about? Do the background work, it will make you stand out as someone who comes prepared, and is genuinely interested in the company and the job.

4. Why do you want to work at X Company?

This should be directly related to the last question. Any research you?ve done on the company should have led you to the conclusion that you?d want to work there. After all, you?re at the interview, right? Put some thought into this answer before you have your interview, mention your career goals and highlight forward-thinking goals and career plans.

5. What relevant experience do you have?

Hopefully if you?re applying for this position you have bags of related experience, and if that?s the case you should mention it all. But if you?re switching careers or trying something a little different, your experience may initially not look like it?s matching up. That?s when you need a littl e honest creativity to match the experiences required with the ones you have. People skills are people skills after all, you just need to show how customer service skills can apply to internal management positions, and so on.

6. If your previous co-workers were here, what would they say about you?

Ok, this is not the time for full disclosure. If some people from your past are going to say you?re a boring A-hole, you don?t need to bring that up. Stay positive, always, and maybe have a few specific quotes in mind. “They?d say I was a hard worker” or even better “John Doe has always said I was the most reliable, creative problem-solver he?d ever met.”

7. Have you done anything to further your experience?

This could include anything from night classes to hobbies and sports. If it?s related, it?s worth mentioning. Obviously anything to do with further education is great, but maybe you?re spending time on a home improvement project to work on skills such as self-sufficiency, time management and motivation.

8. Where else have you applied?

This is a good way to hint that you?re in demand, without sounding like you?re whoring yourself all over town. So, be honest and mention a few other companie***ut don?t go into detail. The fact that you?re seriously looking and keeping your options open is what the interviewer is driving at.

9. How are you when you?re working under pressure?

Once again, there are a few ways to answer thi***ut they should all be positive. You may work well under pressure, you may thrive under pressure, and you may actually PREFER working under pressure. If you say you crumble like aged blue cheese, this is not going to help you get your foot in the door.

10. What motivates you to do a good job?

The answer to this one is not money, even if it is. You sh ould be motivated by life?s noble pursuits. You want recognition for a job well done. You want to become better at your job. You want to help others or be a leader in your field.

11. What?s your greatest strength?

This is your chance to shine. You?re being asked to explain why you are a great employee, so don?t hold back and stay do stay positive. You could be someone who thrives under pressure, a great motivator, an amazing problem solver or someone with extraordinary attention to detail. If your greatest strength, however, is to drink anyone under the table or get a top score on Mario Kart, keep it to yourself. The interviewer is looking for work-related strengths.

12. What?s your biggest weakness?

If you?re completely honest, you may be kicking yourself in the butt. If you say you don?t have one, you?re obviously lying. This is a horrible question and one that politicians have become masters at answering. They say things like “I?m perhaps too committed to my work and don?t spend enough time with my family.” Oh, there?s a fireable offense. I?ve even heard “I think I?m too good at my job, it can often make people jealous.” Please, let?s keep our feet on the ground. If you?re asked this question, give a small, work-related flaw that you?re working hard to impr ove. Example: “I?ve been told I occasionally focus on details and miss the bigger picture, so I?ve been spending time laying out the complete project every day to see my overall progress.”

13. Let?s talk about salary. What are you looking for?

Run for cover! This is one tricky game to play in an interview. Even if you know the salary range for the job, if you answer first you?re already showing all your cards. You want as much as pos***le, the employer wants you for as

little as you?re willing to take. Befo re you apply, take a look at https://www.doczj.com/doc/ff16293831.html, for a good idea of what someone with your specific experience should be paid. You may want to say, “well, that?s something I?ve thought long and hard about and I think someone with my experience should get between X & Y.” Or, you could be sly and say, “right now, I?m more interested in talking more about what the position can offer my career.” That could at least buy you a little time to scope out the situation. But if you do have a specific figure in mind and you are confident that you can get it, I?d say go for it. I have on many occasions, and every time I got very close to that figure (both below and sometimes above).

14. Are you good at working in a team?

Unless you have the I.Q. of a houseplant, you?ll always answer YES to this one. It?s the only answer. How can anyone function inside an organization if they are a loner? You may want to mention what part you like to play in a team though; it?s a great chance to explain that you?re a natural leader.

15. Tell me a suggestion you have made that was implemented.

It?s important here to focus on the word “implemented.” There?s nothing wrong with having a thousand great ideas, but if the only place they live is on your notepad what?s the point? Better still, you need a go od ending. If your previous company took your advice and ended up going bankrupt, that?s not such a great example either. Be prepared with a story about an idea of yours that was taken from idea to implementation, and considered successful.

16. Has anythin g ever irritated you about people you?ve worked with?

Of course, you have a list as long as your arm. But you can?t say that, it shows you a***eing negative and difficult to work with. The best way to answer this one is to think for a while and then say so mething like “I?ve always got on just fine with my co-workers actually.”

Use this question as a chance to show that you are a team player: “The only people I have trouble with are those who aren?t team players, who just don?t perform, who complain constant ly, and who fail to respond to any efforts to motivate them.” The interviewer is expecting a response focused on personality and personal dislikes. Surprise her by delivering an answer that reflects company values

17. Is there anyone you just could not work with?

No. Well, unless you?re talking about murderers, racists, rapists, thieves or other dastardly characters, you can work with anyone. Otherwise you could be flagged as someone who?s picky and difficult if you say, “I can?t work with anyone who?s a Bronco?s fan. Sorry.”

18. Tell me about any issues you?ve had with a previou***oss.

Arrgh! If you fall for this one you shouldn?t be hired anyway. The interviewer is testing you to see if you?ll speak badly about your previous supervisor. Simply answer this question with exteme tact, diplomacy and if necessary, a big fat loss of memory. In short, you?ve never had any issues.

The answer to 18 is completely wrong. I am a director at a major media company?s interactive division. Our company is expanding and I am almost in a constant state of hiring. I ask a variation of this question in every single interview and if a candidate has never had one issue or disagreement with anyone, (I stated a variation: I ask if it has happened with anyone in the workplace) I peg them as a liar and reject them immediately.

I went well with my previou***oss. If there is an conflict, I will be open mind and talk about facts. once decision is made, I execute it well.

19. Would you rather work for money or job satisfaction?

It?s not a very fair question is it? We?d all love to get paid a Trump-like salary doing a job we love but that?s rare indeed. It?s fine to say money is important, but remember that NOTHING is more important to you than the job. Otherwise, you?re just someone looki ng for a bigger paycheck.

20. Would you rather be liked or feared?

I have been asked this a lot, in various incarnations. The first time I just drew a blank and said, “I don?t know.” That

went over badly, but it was right at the start of my career when I h ad little to no experience. Since then I?ve realized that my genuine answer is “Neither, I?d rather be respected.” You don?t want to be feared because fear is no way to motivate a team. You may got the job done but at what cost? Similarly, if you?re everyone?***est friend you?ll find it difficult to make tough decisions or hit deadlines. But when you?re respected, you don?t have to be a complete bastard or a lame duck to get the job done.

21. Are you willing to put the interests of X Company ahead of your own?

Again, another nasty question. If you say yes, you?re a corporate whore who doesn?t care about family. If you say no, you?re disloyal to the company. I?m afraid that you?ll probably have to say yes to this one though, because you?re trying to be the perfect employee at this point, and perfect employees don?t cut out early for Jimmy?***a***all game.

it is situational. if you… ; if you …. Ethics and professionalism

22. So, explain why I should hire you.

As I?m sure you know, “because I?m great” or “I really need a job” are not good answers here. This is a time to give the employer a laundry list of your greatest talents that just so happen to match the job description. It?s also good to avoid taking potshots at other potential candidates here. Focus on you rself and your talents, not other people?s flaws.

23. Finally, do you have any questions to ask me?

I?ll finish the way I started, with one of the most common questions asked in interviews. This directly relates to the research you?ve done on the company and also gives you a chance to show how eager and prepared you are. You?ll probably want to ask about benefits if they haven?t been covered already. A good generic one is “how soon could I start, if I were offered the job of course.” You may also ask what you?d be working on. Specifically, in the role you?re applying for and how that affects the rest of the company. Always have questions ready, greeting this one with a blank stare is a rotten way to finish your interview. Good luck and happy job hunting.

pon der for a moment, and then ask your interviewer “what aspect of your job do you find most challenging”.

I would ask the interviewer, “Why do you like to work here?”

24. Where do you want to be in 5 to years?

They dont want to hear in the same job you are interviewing for. Ultimately, the HR people are searching for someone who can handle the job now, and has the potential to grow into a high level management job in the future. Do you have those goals too?

24. Would you rather work for a big company or a small one?

Favorite answer: I?d treat any company like it was my own regardless. Total ownership of the situation can get you a long way.

General , the worst answer was “I don?t know.” I?ve since learned that “it depends,” with a couple of examples, is perfectly appropriate

spend sometime in doing sth.

WHAT DO YOU CONSIDER YOUR MAJOR STRENGTH/ WEAKNESS?

1.What do you consider your major strength?

May also be: What are you best at?

A. self-motivated

B. hard working and honest

C. look for better ways of doing the work

D.good interpersonal relationships

"I do believe I possess lots of strengths. First, I have formed a habit of working under great pressure, I am a hard working man; Second, I am independent, and always try to use my own methods to solve problems; Third, I am honest."

"What do you consider your major weakness?"

"I cannot leave a job half-done and usually find myself thinking of possible solutions to problems while I am driving to work or in the shower. I also know I spend too much time in my work., I can't get enough leisure time."

首先是leave 在这里表示"让(人、)物维持在某种状态";

half-done自然代表着"未完成的,半成的";

Economy might be the solution to our financial troubles.

而spend sometime in doing sth.

There is room for...

be promoted to ...

WHY DO YOU WANT TO LEAVE YOUR PRESENT JOB?

1、Why do you want to leave your present job / previous job?

There is no room for my career growth and promotion I want in my previous job. So I'm looking for a company which recognizes and rewards hard workers.

的余地"的时候,不妨记住用There is room for...

There is room for improvement in your work, It is not as good as it could be.

gain promotion。

She was promoted to manager of the new workshop.

1.My reason for leaving my present employer is that I am desirous of getting broader experience in trading.

2.I am leaving my present job in order to improve my position and have more responsibility.

2、What is it about this job that interests you? / Why do you want to join our company?

Your company enjoys a good reputation in this field. I've heard you take care of your employees and offer good salaries and benefits.

Your company is well respected in this field. I have heard nothing but good things about your company.

I've heard you take care of your employees and offer good salaries and benefits.

WHY DO YOU THINK YOU ARE QUALIFIED FOR THIS POSITION?

"Why do you think you are qualified for this position?"

"I graduated from Beijing University in 1993, and hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science. Therefore, I have a firm knowledge background in this field."

"I have spent the last 3 years working specially in this field. I think I can bring a lot of experience and knowledge with me."

"Do you think you are the right person for the job?"

"Yes. Because I do believe that my qualifications and experience perfectly match what you are looking for."

"Yes. Because I have the experience you are looking for,and think I will be one of the best in this field."

"Do you know what's involved in a position like this?"

"Yes. I know exactly what's involved. I am a hard worker and will perform to the best of my ability."

WHAT SALARY DO YOU EXPECT?

"What salary do you expect? "

或者:

"How much money are you looking for?"

"This will be my first job and I lack experience, so I hesitate to suggest a salary."

"I don't mind if I start with a low salary because it is my first time to hunt for a job and I lack experience. I'll leave it to you, because I'm not in the position to ask for a certain salary at present."

"I think we can reach an agreement on the salary if I can be sure that there is a good chance to advance in this company."

"I believe you must have a standard starting salary which should be satisfactory."

"I am making RMB2000 a month at my present work. I should expect not lower than RMB3000 a month."

"One good qualified man is better than a score of men. I can handle this work quite easily by myself and you will end up saving money if you pay me RMB4000 a month."

union n.

lazy adj.

gossip vi聊……

get along with sb.和……相处

conflict n. 冲突

maintain vt.保持

strengthen vt.加强

relationship n. 关系

deadline n.

Interview Questions About Team Work

"What type of people do you prefer working with?"

"I like working with all types of people."

"I like working with people who work well under pressure."

"I can work with anyone as long as they are honest."

"Are there any types you don't like working with?"

"I don't like lazy people or people who gossip."

"I don't like people who are always cracking under pressure."

"How do you get along with your co-workers?"

"I generally get along very well with co-workers."

Occasionally I might run into a conflict with someone. When this happens, I usually focus on what the conflict is about rather than on personalities. I find that approach helps me to maintain a successful relationship with anyone and often leads to resolution and strengthened relationships."

"You have a deadline and no time and one of your teammate needs some help, What will you do?"

"If the solution is an easy one and not time consuming I will help my teammate. Otherwise I will tell him to wait till I finish my project and then I will help him. "

在这一课中,我们就来讲解对Tell me about yourself?

to be brief 简单地说,……

mechanical adj.

fascination n.

to be fascinated with sth.对……着迷

reveal vt.

talent n.

software n. 软件

to be heavily involved in sth.在……

match n.

elaborate on详述

Tell me about yourself?

Tell me about yourself?

"My name is Edward Li. I come from a large family..."

to see if you could fit in...you could do the job here.

"to be brief" or "Here is the short version"

"Ever since I was a child, I have been fascinated with things mechanical and this fascination revealed a talent for mechanical engineering...."

"Ever since I was a child...",

另外,词组to be fascinated with sth.

I am fascinated with computers.

I have the talent for acquiring foreign languages.

Yes, I have been heavily involved in the software business for the last 5 years.

你看,用上to be heavily involved in sth.(在……

"With my prior experience and your current involvement in the software market, I felt that we would be an ideal match."(我的经验加上贵公司在软件市场上目前的活跃程度,我们一定会互相配合得很好的。)

Match

This tie is a good match for that suit.

Is there anything specific you would like me to elaborate on?

He elaborated on this subject.

Is there anything specific you would like to know about me?

外教William Hill先生告诉我们:“I interviewed a lot of candidates in Shanghai, a few of which did impress me deeply with veteran skills. I was surprised at their spoken English because they appeared to be a Chinese American. I just couldn't decline them.”

关于这个问题William Hill说:“I don't think candidates with those certificates are up to par, because what we focus on is the municating ability. And, as is known, CET and TEM don't seem to test one's speaking skills. But he who owns an IELTS or TOEFL certificate may be preferred.”

me about yourself. Driving is my hobby. I really love the feeling of driving on the road. Cars are my best friends. ." 2. What are your three greatest strengths I'm really organized, punctual and get along well with others." 比如要应聘金融行业,可是说 "I think my three biggest strengths are details-oriental, patient and cautious." I think my biggest strengths are that I am aggressive, hard working and communicative." 3. What are your three greatest weaknesses I am a perfectionist and I pay very much attention to details." 4. Why are you interested in working for our company It seemed like a good career move."或是"I haven't been able to find anything else interesting." I read an article in the newspaper and was very impressed by..."
