We undertook this research in order to find out whether students’ eating habits are healthy or not. 100 students were interviewed from IEN of Dalian Jiaotong University. We focus on what students eat at three meals and what are their favorite food and drink. We also wonder the frequency about eating junk food like KFC, McDonald’s or Pizza Hut and the environment they would like to eat in. Through our analysis towards the statistics, we discovered most of the students have reasonable eating habits, whereas some students can’t form good eating habits. For example, they often don’t have breakfast. In addition, home is the most popular places where more than a half people prefer to have meals. Concerning principal food, drink and fruit, different fellows have various choices. Do you wonder the details? Please read our report.

Introduction Team

From June 2nd to June 16th, our group of 4 people conducted a survey about eating habits. The reason why we chose the topic is that eating habits is related to our daily life. In addition, we undertook this research in order to find out whether students’ eating habits are healthy or not. 100 students were interviewed from IEN of Dalian Jiaotong University. They are included 44 freshmen, 31 sophomores and 25 junior students. In addition, male students make up 49% while females constitute 51%. Moreover, we found them in study lounges and our canteen. Then we gave away every questionnaire to every student seated there. After a while, we took them back to gather the information of 12 questions. We asked 12 questions about eating habits. We asked two closed questions, two open questions, two scale and six multiple choice questions. The last two questions people could tick more than one.

Methods Team

The questionnaire of 12 questions was conducted by our whole team and 100 students were interviewed from IEN of Dalian Jiaotong University. When we make the research, we went to study lounges and our canteen. Then we gave away every questionnaire to every student seated there. After a while, we took them back to gather the information of 12 questions together, so that we can easily know the various eating habits. During this period, we spent two days to research 100 students’ questionnaires including 44 freshmen, 31 sophomores and 25 junior students. In addition, 49 males and 51 females were investigated.

Part 1

Eating habits

Andy

As we all known, different people have different eating habits. Especially for the university students, some good eating habits are important to our healthy. We researched the students have breakfast of situation and the eating of speed. The report main condition is the following.

We asked the first question is ―do you always eat breakfast?‖ There is 66% of the students alway s eat breakfast. On the contrary, 34% of the students don’t always eat breakfast. The reason why 34% of the students don’t eat breakfast is they don’t get up early. They wake up too late, so that they don’t have enough time to eat breakfast.

The breakfast is very important for our health. We had better eat breakfast everyday.

We researched the second question about ―at what time do you usually have breakfast?‖ 61% of the students we interviewed said that they have breakfast at 7:00 to 8:00am. 23% of the students have breakfast after 9:00am. Only a few students eat breakfast at 6:00 to 7:00am and at 8:00 to 9:00am. According to the pie chart, we known the majority of the people have a good time to eat breakfast. We should have breakfast in time. It’s good for our health. Having a good breakfast can keep us full of energy.

The third question we investigate is ―which speed do you usually eat?‖ Through

the bar graph, we can learn 50% of the students we interviewed think that they eat in average speed. There is 39% of the students can quickly eat. But 11% of the students have a slowly speed. Different people have different eating habits, so the eating of speed also is very difference. But the eating of speed can’t decide our health. The food we eat is more important.

After our investigation, we found most of the students have a good eating habit. But a few students can’t get a health eating habit. I think the symbol of the good lif e is having a regular eating habit. So we should keep a reasonable eating habit. It can make us more health.

Part 2

Eating habits

It is well known that eating habits play an important role in our daily life.So I paid attention to three questions about students' eating habits like the people you like eating with , the place you prefer to eat and the times you eat junk food a period of time.

First of all ,we asked the first question is "Where do you prefer to eat ?Why?"It is obvious that students prefer to eat at home,which reaches to 65%.They think that eating at home is more comfortable and the food made by parents is tasty. At the same time, it can bring a lot of happiness. What's more , the chart also shows that only 20% of students like eating in canteen.They said it is convenient and can help us save much time when we have classes. However,14% of students we interviewed would like to eat at restaurant, because there are many kinds of food to choose and we don't have to clean up the table.

The second question we asked is "How many people do you prefer to eat with?" According to the trend of the chart, almost a half students prefer to eat with two people. Also, there are about 33% of students like eating with three to ten people.However, 10% of students we interviewed think that eating alone is relaxing.As shown by the chart, only

a few students(3%) prefer to eat with more than ten people.

The third question is "How often do you eat KFC, McDonald's or Pizza hut?" It can be easily seen from the chart that about 56% of students eat KFC,Mcdonald's or Pizza Hut once a month. According to the survey,there are more females than males.Also,the proportion(11%) of eating them once a week is equivalent to the proportion of eating

them once a year. In addition, 22% of students eat them once a half year.

By doing the report, it is easy to see that different students have different eating habits. It can reflect the characteristic of a person.Above all, I hope everyone can form good eating habits, which have an important influence on us.

Part 3

The situations about the students' favorite food and drink

During a week’s research, we found abou t principal food, drink and fruit that were chosen by students with various situations and we has known all kinds of food and drink which are most popular or most unpopular.

Firstly, we researched the question about ― What principal food do you prefer to eat at lunch ?‖ In this question, 53% of the students we interviewed think that rice is their favorite principal food when they eat at lunch just like pie chart above. In addition, there has a same percentage about the situations of eating dumplings and noodles. Obviously, steamed stuffed buns are rarely accepted by the students.

Secondly, the students were surveyed the question about ―Which drink do you like best?‖ After we collected all the information about this question, we found the students who like drink juice accounts for a large percentage about 24% by the bar graph. In the meantime, boiled water is also more popular than other drink which accounts for 21%. However, just a few people who we interviewed think that soft drink and other drink is their favorite drink.

At last, we asked the students question about ―What is your favorite fruit?‖ This is an open question that the 100 students showed their various favors about different fruits. By means of the bar graph, we can see that there are four k inds of fruits which occupy a great ratio, including apple, watermelon, banana and orange. Evidently, 44% of the students chose apple as their favorite fruit which can be observed by the bar graph. On the contrary, the quantities of students who like orang es are less than bananas’ and watermelons’, just account for 13%.

NO matter what food or drink, everyone owns their unique feelings and habits to choose from them. We can on the basis of our favorite food to manage reasonable arrangement of our diet, so that we can eat and drink healthy.

Part 4

Eating habits

Now, let me keep the ball rolling. When it comes to the 10th question, we wonder whether fellows’ eating habits will be changed by some factors or not. As for the 11th question, we are curious about which flavor is the most popular one. With reference to the last question, fish are taken as an example to investigate which cuisine people like.

What's more, interviewees can tick more than one in the latter two questions.

As regards our 10th question, we asked them ―Do your eating habits change with the change of seasons?‖ As can be seen in the pie chart, ―YES‖ takes the lion’s share, being 57%. By contrast, 43% students believe, no matter how seasons alter, their eating habits won’t change.

With reference to 11th question, interviewees were asked ―which kind of flavor do you like?‖ There is a ba r chart which mirrors that students choose different type of flavor, such as sour, sweet, salty, bitter, and hot. It is noticeable from the statistics, more than half of students have a passion for sweet. The second largest part goes to hot flavor, which is beloved by 37% students. Furthermore, salty flavor reaches the third place, which means there are 33 percent students being crazy about salty flavor. Only 20 percent of students are keen on sour flavor. Besides, a minority of students are into bitter.

Last question is which culinary art of cooking fish you like. The highest percentage

is 40%, which reveals approximately less than half of students choose stewing fish. Plus the second largest part goes to baking fish, being 38%. According to the column graph, the proportion of students keen on frying fish is equivalent to the proportion of students having a passion for steaming fish. They both make up 32%. To boil fish is almost the same popularity cuisine, with the percentage of 29. Moreover, interviewees who are into decocting fish account for 18% of the total. Only a small proportion of choose other.

Conclusion Team

In the main body of the report, we found most of the students have reasonable eating habits, while only a few students can’t form good eating habits. They often don’t have breakfast owing to the fact that they usually sleep late. In addition, more than a half people prefer to have meals at home. What’s more, concerning principal food, drink and fruit, different fellows have various choices. Moreover, sweet flavor is beloved by more than a half of students.

We have achieved the aim we studied in the introduction. When we drew a chart or graph, we found it was hard for us to draw one via computer, owing to the fact that we don't know how to use computer to draw pie chart or bar chart. Thanks to our classmates' help, we learned the methods. Next time, we could make the chart by ourselves and we will make them more attractive. After researching the topic, we recognize we should form good eating habits which we can benefit from forevermore. What the most important issues to be remembered is that team work plays a significant role in the process.

According to our investigation, we make several predictions. Fewer and fewer students, we think, will eat too much junk food in the future. Furthermore, people who are into rice account for a large percentage. Therefore, we are convinced that large quantities of rice will be popular all the time. However, such steamed stuffed buns and other principal food will be replaced by rice and have a slight decrease.

We recommend that we should make eating habits regular and reasonable in order to keep fit. For instance, students had better have breakfast on time. Besides, we hope some students can eat more fruit and vegetables instead of junk food. From our standpoint, it is better for us to eat slowly, which will have a profit to our body. On the side, we ought to use healthy cuisine to cook bland food.
