My first trip abroad
Last summer vacation I went to South Korea and Japan. It was my first trip abroad. And it was also the greatest trip I’ve ever had. I went with my mom and my good friends. These are the pictures I took during the trip.
Picture 1: This is the picture of all the kids. There were 15 kids in the tour group, six girls and nine boys. Most of them are my good friends.
The trip started on July 12th, 2008. We traveled for seven days. First, we went to Tianjin. There we boarded a ship named Costa Cruise. It was a huge and fabulous ship, equipped with many rooms, all kinds of on-board activities, and all standard meals. Picture 2: Look at this one. I was lying back in a lounge chair with my best friend George. We were drinking milk and breathing the fresh sea air. Before us was the endless sea.
There were all kinds of on-board activities. You could join in exercises, dance classes, or sports contests. You could practice your tennis stroke or golf swing. You could go jogging on the deck, or swim in the pools.
Picture 3: Look, I was playing golf on the deck. It was a game for kids. The winner could get some prizes. I was not the champion though.
At night, there were lots of activities. You could watch a Broadway style show, wander in the piano bars, or try your luck in the casino.

This guy was dressed like Captain Hook. He had a gun in his right hand. And I was so scared of his hook even though I knew it was not real. We had such a wonderful time
on board.
We floated on the sea on the second day and there was nothing special. On the third day, we got to Jeju-do at 6:00 in the morning. It was a very beautiful island.
Picture 6: It was a sunny day. All of us were playing on the beach. We collected seashells, walked barefoot on the soft sand, and ran in the waves. We had a lot of fun. But we couldn’t swim because of the limited time. Besides, we didn’t have our bathing suits. At 5:00pm we got back to Costa Cruise and set off for Fukuoka.
On the fourth day’s morning, we got to Fukuoka. It was a beautiful and modern city. There were many high buildings. We visited one named Fukuoka Tower. Can you guess how high it is? It’s 234 meters high.
Picture 7: Look, here we were 123 meters high. But it only took us 70 seconds by elevator. From here you could see a view of the whole city.
Picture 8: There was a big hall on the first floor. Look, my mom and I were standing behind the board. We were taking a picture. It looks like we were wearing Japanese clothes.
On the fifth day, we went to a small island named Kagoshima. It was the last stop. Picture 9: Look at this picture. The tour guide and I were on a commercial street. The others were shopping. For those people who loved shopping, this place was a heaven. But for me, it was a torture. So I just waited outside the shopping malls.
The next two days we just stayed on board and relaxed. I enjoyed the trip very much. I can still remember those wonderful moments, the fresh sea air, the bright sunshine, clean streets and so on. They will be always in my mind.
Now I am looking forward the next trip. We are going to……in this summer vacation.
