省音是指在快速的日常谈话中消失的某个音。 它分为历史的省音和语境的 省音,历史的省音是指英语单词中早期存在的某个音,后来随着社会、经济与语 言的变化就消失了。 这里我们主要学习和熟悉语境的省音。语境的省音指在一个 词或补语中,某个音因受毗邻音的影响,或位于轻读音节,因而消失的现象。这 种省音大致分为元音的省略和辅音的省略。 Elision 1. 元音的省略。 主要是指混元音 和非重读音节[i]的省略,以及两词之间间 的省如: preferable university , 或 go a, try again . 2. 辅音的省略。辅音的省略大多出现在辅音音丛里(如: mostly , exactly ,以及与相邻单词的词界上。当“辅音+[t]或[d]的音丛后面跟 的是一个以辅音开头的词时,[t]和[d]很容易被省略。如: first night helped me . 3. Contraction (缩略语)。缩略语是指语言形式缩短的过程或结果,其中也有 省音 的现象。 如: 代词+助动词, I’ ve, you’ d; 或助动词+not,如: won’ t, can’ t。 还有其他的如: let’s, D’you, 它们代表的是 let us 和 Do you。

二、不定式使用的常见错误 Jack went to the airport in a hurry only to tell that his flight had been cancelled. (tell 应改为 be told) She likes to watch them to play basketball in the playground. (to play 应改为 play) After work he does nothing but to watch TV. (to watch 应 改 为 watch) I want a novel to be read on the train. (be read 应改为 read) 当不定式的逻辑主语是不定式所表示的动作的对象时,不定式需要用 被动式。
在感官动词 see, watch, observe, hear, notice, feel, smell 和 使役动词 make, let, have 等后面做宾语补足语的不定式要省略 to。
当 except, but, besides 之前有行为动词 do 时,后面的不定式可 以不带 to, 若之前无行为动词 do,则其后的不定式要带 to。 当不定式与被修饰的词之间存在动宾关系,而且与句子的主语在逻 辑上有主谓关系时,虽然意思是被动但却用主动形式。
