Last month, my classmates and I participated in the activity themed “Pride of China” in our school,which was
meaningful and unforgettable.
In one class meeting, after our teacher informed us of this activity, we had a discussion on the topic. In the end,
my idea to show the history of Chinese characters stood out.
We started by learning more about the topic. Firstly, we visited the museum to learn about the origin and evolution
of Chinese characters. We also consulted our teacher, who explained to us how they came into being. The next step
was to make the display board. With our joint efforts, we successfully made an informative and attractive one.
On the day when the exhibition “Pride of China” was held in our school, I introduced the charm of Chinese
characters with great pride, which was well received with applauses. I am glad that we did our bit in providing the
students with a chance to appreciate the achievements of ancient and modern China.

One Possible Version
Last Friday night, faced with overwhelming academic tasks, I found myself on the verge of breaking down.
With Gaokao approaching day by day, I was under great pressure. Having noticed all this, Mom suggested I relax a
little bit during the weekend.
The next morning, my parents and I went to the park for a walk. The pavement there was covered with fallen
leaves in yellow and orange, creating a unique scenery for this season. Holding a leaf in hand, I casually exchanged
anecdotes with my parents, feeling the relaxation that I had been missing for a long time.
After lunch, we went rock climbing. Though the wall was high and steep, I was determined to conquer it. With
my parents’ encouragement, I eventually managed to reach the top. At that moment, my confidence was restored.
On Monday morning, my parents saw me off at the school gate. Their warm smiles and raised thumbs filled me
with energy. I waved them goodbye and promised to devote myself to the preparation for Gaokao. This weekend
would go a long way with me as it was a new starting point, from which I believe I could go far.

Last weekend, my friend Jim and I tried a new way to explore the Forbidden City, which left me a deep
impression.
To avoid wasting time on the spot for the tickets, we tried making reservations online. The whole process just
took us several minutes before the message popped out that the tickets had been successfully booked.
The next day’s visit amazed both of us. On arriving, impressed by the magnificent architecture, we couldn’t wait
to start our exploration. While wandering around the galleries, we were attracted by the delicate chinaware. To our
excitement, we could scan the QR code to listen to the introduction, which gave us a deeper insight into their history.
In the afternoon, we had a unique experience in the VR theatre. With the VR goggles on, we found ourselves
back to the time when the palace was being constructed. As we “built” the wall brick by brick, we realized how
much effort was put into accomplishing the grand work of architectural art.
Before we left, I led Jim to the souvenir center for cultural creative products. All the cups, notebooks and other
products there bear certain elements of royal life. Jim was satisfied with his final choice of a Chinese fan. After this
visit, I found the Forbidden City both traditional and modern because our rich and profound history was made alive
here!

Last week, our class participated in an extracurricular activity on paper culture, which was really an
unforgettable experience.
On Monday morning, some classmates and I noticed an announcement on the school bulletin board, saying an
activity on paper culture would be held in the Capital Museum. Attracted by it, we signed up without any hesitation.
The activity started on Friday with a visit to the exhibition in the museum. Following the guide, we learned
about the origin and development of paper and the detailed process of papermaking. What especially impressed us
was how paper contributed to the preservation and spread of human civilization.
After that, we had some hands-on experience in making paper handicrafts. Divided into different groups, we
learned with great enthusiasm. With the help of a master working there, the group of boys managed to create some
paper cuts and lanterns while the girls tried different folding patterns, such as hearts, stars and birds. Not until then
did we fully realize that paper can be made into so many objects in our life, either decorative or functional.
Before we left, we took a group photo to record the day. With the little pieces of work in our hands, we smiled
heartily to the camera. At that moment, I came to know that the wisdom of our ancestors shown in paper culture
should definitely be honored, recorded and passed down.
