When you are learning English, listening, speaking and writing are important, but reading can also be very helpful. When you read, you can not only learn some new words, but also you can learn how to use these English words. When you read, it gives you a good example for writing.
Good reading tips:
Try to read at the right level(水平). Read something that you can (more or less)understand. If you need to stop every three words to use a dictionary, it is not interesting.
Try to increase the number of your new words. If there are four or five new words on a page, write them in your notebook. But you don't have to write them while you read. Instead, try to guess their meaning as you read: mark them with a pen. Then come back when you have finished reading to look them up in a dictionary and write them in your own vocabulary book. Then try to remember them.
Try to read regularly. For example, read for a short time once a day. Fifteen minutes every day is better than two hours every Sunday. Fix(固定) a time to read and keep to it. You could read for fifteen minutes when you go to bed, or when you get up or at lunchtime.
Read what interests you. Choose a book or a magazine about a subject that you like, because you are going to spend time and money reading it. So, choose an interesting book. You can also read newspapers. There are many English newspapers in China. For example, 21st Century Teens. It is easy enough for you to understand it. There is something interesting in it.

Do you have true friends? Do you want to know better between you and your friends? There are three different kinds of friends: "pest friends", "guest friends", and "best friends".
The first kind of friend is simply acquaintances (熟人), and all you usually know about them is their names. You may meet this kind of friend at school, at work, or on the bus, but you don't miss them when they're not around. When this kind of friend does something bad, you don't tell them. That is why they are called "pest friends".
The second kind of friend could also be called "social partners". They are closer than acquaintances, but not as close as true friends. You know their names, a little of what they like or dislike, and a little of their family histories; you usually have a few things in common, but you don't talk about anything deep(深), such as your wishes or fears(害怕), and they don't open up to you how they really feel.
The last kind of friend, the "best friend", is the one you know the deepest. You're like family, and know everything about each other. You have no problem staying at each other's houses, and you share your deepest feelings and thoughts. They will correct you when you're wrong, and though they may not be perfect(完美的), they at least will always care about you, and never do anything on purpose(故意地)to hurt you.

What should you take with you when you take an exam? Pens, pen an eraser, a ruler, and don't forget a bottle of water.
According to a study at the British Psychological(心理学的) Society Annual Conference held in London, students who bring water into exam halls may improve their grades by up to 10 percent.
Scientists at the University of East London and the University of Westminster, did a study on 447 students. The students were studying for different degrees(学位) at the University of East London. Only 25 percent of them entered the exam hall with something to drink.
Scientists then compared their exam results with their normal schoolwork grades. They found that all those who had brought drinks with them got better grades by between 2 and 10 percent. It is unclear why drinking water improves exam results. But scientists said having enough water in our bodies and not feeling thirsty could have a positive effect on our brains. "Drinking water
may also cut down on anxiety (焦虑)which had a bad effect on exam performances," said Chris Paw son, PhD of the University of East London.
"Whatever the explanation is, it is clear that students should try hard to stay hydrated(含水
的) during exams," he said.
So next time, when you are going to have a big exam, try bringing a bottle of water with you. Who knows—it may help you pass the exam!
