Millions of Chinese will go on holiday at home and abroad next week for the National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival, and technology is changing the way they book, plan and travel. “Smart tourism” is based on advanced data analysis and artificial intelligence to offer users safer and easier trips.

Tourists can enjoy upgraded services from route planning to traffic monitoring, visitor information, shopping and aerial photography. Providers, including 12301 tourism platform, AutoNavi, Airbnb, Tuniu, Lonely Planet and so on, have seen traffic and income surge.

“Smart tourism over new technologies like data analysis and A1 will improve traveling experience, especially those tourists with customized, diversified and high-quality demands,”Dong Zhenning, vice president of AutoNavi, the top map and navigation firm in China.

During the peak National Day holiday, traffic volume is expected to be up to four times normal, especially in Chongqing, Suzhou and Dongguan, according to a study by AutoNavi and transport regulatores.

AutoNavi also partnered with the government-authorized national smart tourism platform 12301 to offer A1-featured services for tourism for tourism sites and visitors.

Mark is a mobile app for travelers shopping overseas and has links with 10,000 shop partners, mainly in airports and cities in Japan and Thailand. Whether you need it to keep warm, cook food, or just create the right atmosphere, no camping trip is complete without a fire. If you’ve never built one before, though, the process can seem somewhat frightening. The key is being prepared with the right supplies and knowing what you’re going to use your fire for so you can figure out the best type of campfire to meet your needs. Bring tinder. To start an effective campfire, you must start with tinder, which is the smallest fire-starting material and burns the easiest. The tinder must be dry, so you can bring a variety of dry household items such as newspaper, cardboard, was as tinder.

Gather kindling. To keep your fire burning, you’ll need to add some more materials to the tinder. Kindling is larger than tinder materials, but not so large that it will smother(把……闷熄)the fire’s flames. Look around your campground for grasses and small branches to use as kindling. Choose branches with a diameter between 1/8 inch and 1/2 inch, or approximately the width of a pencil. Just as with tinder, it’s important that your kindling materials are dry. If there are any damp areas on the branches, use a picket knife to carefully cut them off.

Collect firewood. To maintain its flames, you must add larger pieces of wood. These materials, usually known as firewood or fuelwood, can be anywhere from 1 inch 5 inches in diameter, so you can use complete logs. You shouldn’t break branches off trees to use as firewood or you’ll ruin the trees at your campsite. Instead, look for pieces that have already fallen off. Make

sure they bend or snap easily. That way, you’ll know it’s dry enough to burn in the fire. Pack a firestarter. Once you have the proper materials to build your fire, you’ll need something to light it. Regular matches work well to start a fire, but you may prefer to use a lighter.

32. What do we know about campfire from the first paragraph?

A. It’s easy to make a campfire

B. Campfire can serve different needs

C. Right supplies are the key to making a campfire

D. Campfire usually means the end of camping trip

33. What does the underlined word “tinder” in Paragraph 2 refer to?

A. A small campfire

B. An angry person

C. Small thing that burns easily

D. Household items

34. What is the differences between kindling and firewood?

A. Firewood need not be dry

B. Kindling is larger burning material

C. Firewood should be easy to bend or snap

D. Firewood, used as kindling, may kill the campfire

35. Why does the author advise not to use branches broken from trees?

A. Because it is hard to break branches off from trees

B. Because it may do harm to the environment around

C. Because it is more convenient to get fallen branches

D. Because branches broken from trees are usually wet

People give gifts in almost all societies. Gifts mark anniversaries, religious festivals and other important occasions. Sometimes there are even special ceremonies for gift giving. Some gifts are expensive, or they may take months to create. 36 What do these different kinds of gifts and gift-giving occasions have in common?

___37 If you receive a birthday gift from someone, that person usually expects a birthday gift from you in return. A gift establishes or confirms a obligation(责任). In some cultures, there are complex rules about gift exchange. In Pakistan, for example, there is a rule for giving gifts on special occasions, such as a wedding. 38 It works this way: You give the wedding

couple a gift, and they “repay” you with a gift of slightly higher value. Then you give the couple another gift. This one should be worth the difference between the first two gifts, plus a little more. The gift exchange continues, following the same pattern.

Sometimes gift giving is a form of tribute(贡品). 39 In many ancient cultures, people made offering to their leaders to show their loyalty. The Nubians in ancient Egypt are a good example. They brought gold to the Egyptian pharaohs, or kings.

Today ambassadors, presidents, and prime ministers usually bring gifts when they visit a foreign leader. This tradition is different from the tribute system. Leaders bring gifts to strengthen relationships between countries, not to emphasize the power of the gift receiver.

Gifts can also send special message. For example, gifts can tell people that we are thinking of them and that we want them to feel special. 40 The gift keeps the memory of a special person and a special relationship alive.

A. Gifts can be a form of communication.

B. This tradition is called “taking-giving.”

C. Sometimes a gift reminds us of the giver.

D. Gift giving is often a process of exchange.

E. You should know some rules for gift giving.

F. Others are of less value, such as birthday cards.

G. A tribute is a gift to a powerful leader or country from a less powerful one.

高三英语周测试题

虎门中学高三周测英语试题1 第二部分阅读理解(共两节,满分40分) 第一节(共15小题;每小题2分,满分30分) A The small coastal town of Broome, in northwest Australia, is a remote village in the vast countryside. There are no traffic jams and hardly any roads. There is only the massive Australian wild land, where some houses are 500 miles apart and some driveways are 50 miles long. There seem to be only two main sources of entertainment out here: the sunset at the beach and Sun Pictures. Sun Pictures is a very different movie theater:The seats are park benches and deck chairs, but you’re also welcome to sit on the grass. It is the world’s oldest outdoor movie garden. Sun Pictures was built in 1916 on the other side of the globe from Hollywood. All the big films were shipped here and the lonely country was amazed. Broome resident Pearl Hamaguchi has never traveled far from home. But in the Sun Pictures chairs, under the deep blue night sky, she has been almost everywhere. “And we came back excited about Gregory Peck,” she recalled. This is one of the few places left in the world where you can see two sets of stars at the same time-----one set in the sky, the other in the film. Each night, dozens of people from around the world line up at the old wooden stand, with no computer in sight, and buy their tickets to the latest films. Sun Pictures is also a museum, exhibiting projectors(放映机) that date back to the silent films, a portrait gallery of the famous people who never knew about this place---- even though they came here all the time. Every once in a while, I’m told, you might find a non-ticket holder in your seat. That’s why it’s always a good idea to shake out your chair to make sure there are no spiders or scorpions. “We’ve only had a couple of scorpion incidents but no one’s been stung yet,” said Aaron Mestemaker, a tourist visiting from Michigan. Sun Pictures is a holy hall of movie history and a reminder that air conditioning and carpet are no match for grass and fresh air---even when the lizards steal the scene. 21. The first two paragraphs want to show that__________. A. living in Broome is inconvenient B. the life in Broome is boring C. few people like to live in Broome D. Broome is simple but vast 22. Sun Pictures is different from other theaters because _________. A. it is the most historical outdoor theater in the world B. the audience can either sit on chairs or on the grass C. it was built by some constructor from Hollywood D. all the films were imported here from Hollywood 23. 石家庄二中2020-2021学年第一学期高三英语学科周测试卷8、23

石家庄二中实验学校2018级英语周考试卷 命题人张建伟做题人殷晓优考试时间8 月23 日 I 阅读理解(共4 小题;每小题2 分,满分8分) Recently, researchers at the University of Toronto figured out a way with a quick video selfie to accurately measure blood pressure with your smartphone’s camera by developing a technology known as transdermal optical imaging (TOI)(透皮光学成像). Cameras on smartphones can catch red light reflected from hemoglobin (血红素)under our skin, which permits TOI to visualize and measure blood flow changes. Researchers measured the blood pressure of 1,328 Canadian and Chinese adults by getting two-minute vide os of their faces on an iPhone. “From the video got by the technology, you can see how the blood flows in different parts of the face and through this flow, you can get a lot of information,” said Kang Lee, lead author of the study. Lee also helped create an app called Anura, which allows people to try out the TOI software for themselves, giving them the ability to record a 30-second video of their face and receive measurements for stress levels and resting heart rate. Lee said more research was needed to make sure that the measurements were as accurate as possible, explaining that the study didn’t test people with very dark or very fair skin. “In order to improve our app to make it usable, particularly for people with hypertension (高血压),we need to collect a lot of data from them, which is very hard because a lot of them are already taking medicine,”Lee explained. “We cannot tell them not to take medicine, but from time to time, we get participants who don’t take medicine so we can get hypertensive people this way.” The scientists said there were many potential applications of the technology, including providing health services for those who lived in remote areas. 1.
