外教一对一
英语词汇：Contribution
contribution 这个词。
对这个词表“贡献”时，到底用复数，还是单数，姐一直也很困惑，遂去查了多本纸质词典，又在网上搜索，因为金山词霸关于这个词的例句太少。
发现如下：
还是以可数用法居多，例如：
make greater contributions to the cause of socialism
为社会主义事业作出更大贡献
《新英汉词典》
add a valuable contribution to the sum of human knowledge
constitute a valuable contribution to the study of the question
《英语搭配大辞典》
泛指某个人的act of contributing 时，采用单数。
例如：
gratefully acknowledge sb's contribution
one's contribution to the advancement of physiology

所以，如果主语是很多人，他们作出的贡献，就用复数吧!
作<捐款>讲时，很明显按可数名词，比如：
make contributions to a fund
指捐了很多次或不同的捐助物
此外，contribution 还有投稿的含义。
所以：
contributor 不仅仅指捐助人，也有可能指投稿人。
还需注意的是， contribute ...to... 这个结构中，to 其实是介词，后面的词组也多为名词词组，所以，contribute ... to ... 或 ... contribution to ... 后面如果要跟动词，要采用动名词的形式(v.+ing). 例如：
外教一对一 make due contributions to boosting economic development
其他动词，devote...to..., dedicate... to..., be committed to...，也是同样的用法。
判断标准很简单，如果 to 后面都接名词词组，那么这个 to 一般来讲就是介词，后接动词的话，就要采用 ing 形式。
contribute to 还可以表示“有助于”，例如：
We hope your suggestion will contribute to solving the problem.
我们希望你的建议将有助于解决这个问题。
