waysgoingtobehardtobeat.Butmanyintheaircargoindustrythought20 XXwasasignofevenbetterthingstoeandbudgetedforincrementalgrow thin20XX.Theynowhaveamajorproblem.
RamMenen:Themarketslowdownis,obviously,thetopicthathasdomin atedtheindustry.Butwhatismostremarkableabout20XXisthenumber anddiversityoffactorsthatcontributedtotheslowdown.Naturaldisaste rs,suchasthetsunamiinJapanandtheThaifloods,weremajoreventsthat notonlyimpactedexportsandimportsinthosecountriesdirectly,butals ohitglobalsupplychains.Productionlinesinfactorieswerehaltedduetot hesuddenshortageofvitalponents.
