Debate Topic: Should etiquette be taught in schools?Opening Statement:Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen. Today, we are here to discuss the topic of whether etiquette should be taught in schools. Etiquette, which refers to the customary code of polite behavior in society, has been a topic of debate for many years. Some argue that it is an essential skill that should be taught in schools, while others believe that it is the responsibility of parents to instill these values in their children. In this debate, we will explore the pros and cons of teaching etiquette in schools and ultimately determine whether it is a valuable addition to the curriculum.Arguments in Favor of Teaching Etiquette in Schools:1. Preparation for the real world: In today's society, good manners and social skills are highly valued in the workplace and social settings. By teaching etiquette in schools, we can better prepare students for success intheir future careers and personal lives.2. Fostering respect and empathy: Learning about etiquette can help students develop a greater sense of respect and empathy towards others. This can lead to a more harmonious and respectful society.3. Equal opportunity: Not all students have the privilege of learning proper etiquette at home. By teaching it in schools, we can ensure that all students have access to this important life skill.Arguments Against Teaching Etiquette in Schools:1. Parental responsibility: Teaching etiquette is traditionally seen as the responsibility of parents. Byintroducing it into the school curriculum, we may undermine the role of parents in teaching these values to their children.2. Cultural differences: Etiquette varies greatly across different cultures and societies. It may bedifficult for schools to teach a universal code ofetiquette that is applicable to all students.3. Limited time and resources: Schools already have a packed curriculum, and adding etiquette lessons may take away time and resources from other important subjects.Closing Statement:In conclusion, the debate over whether etiquette should be taught in schools is a complex and nuanced one. While there are valid arguments on both sides, it is important to consider the potential benefits of teaching etiquette in schools, such as preparing students for the real world and fostering respect and empathy. However, it is also crucial to recognize the role of parents in teaching these valuesand the challenges of implementing a universal code of etiquette in a diverse society. Ultimately, the decision on whether to teach etiquette in schools should be carefully considered and based on the specific needs and circumstances of each school and community. Thank you.。

Debate Topic: Should the voting age be lowered to 16?Introduction:The issue of whether the voting age should be lowered to 16 has been a topic of debate for many years. Proponents argue that 16-year-olds are mature enough to make informed decisions and should have a say in the political process. However, opponents argue that 16-year-olds lack the life experience and knowledge to make informed decisions andthat the voting age should remain at 18. This debate raises important questions about the rights and responsibilities of young people in society.Argument for lowering the voting age to 16:1. 16-year-olds are capable of making informeddecisions: Many 16-year-olds are well-informed about political issues and are actively engaged in the political process. They are capable of researching and understanding complex issues and should be allowed to have a say in the decisions that affect their future.2. 16-year-olds have a stake in the future: 16-year-olds are directly affected by the decisions made by the government, such as education policy, environmental regulations, and economic policies. They should have the right to vote for representatives who will make decisions that impact their lives.3. Lowering the voting age can increase youth engagement in politics: By allowing 16-year-olds to vote, we can encourage greater participation in the political process among young people. This can help to create a more inclusive and representative democracy.Argument against lowering the voting age to 16:1. 16-year-olds lack the life experience and knowledgeto make informed decisions: Many 16-year-olds are still in high school and may not have the life experience or knowledge to make informed decisions about complexpolitical issues. They may be more susceptible to influence from others, such as parents or peers.2. 18 is the age of legal adulthood: 18 is the age at which individuals are considered legal adults and are granted various rights and responsibilities, such as the ability to sign contracts, join the military, and be tried as an adult in court. Lowering the voting age would create inconsistency in the legal treatment of young people.3. Lowering the voting age could lead to uninformed voting: Lowering the voting age could lead to an increase in uninformed or frivolous voting, as younger voters may not take the responsibility of voting as seriously as older voters. Conclusion:The debate over whether the voting age should belowered to 16 is a complex and contentious issue. Both sides present valid arguments, and the decision ultimately comes down to weighing the rights and responsibilities of young people against concerns about their maturity and knowledge. It is a topic that will continue to be debated as society grapples with the question of how to best engage and empower young people in the political process.。

英文辩论赛辩题大全英文回答:1. Resolved: The benefits of genetically modified organisms outweigh the risks.Genetically modified organisms (GMOs) have sparked a fierce debate about their potential benefits and risks. Proponents of GMOs argue that they offer a number of advantages, including increased crop yields, resistance to pests and diseases, and enhanced nutritional value. They also point to the fact that GMOs have been extensively tested and found to be safe for human consumption.Opponents of GMOs, on the other hand, raise concerns about the potential environmental and health risks associated with their use. They argue that GMOs can cross-pollinate with wild plants, creating new and potentially harmful species. They also worry that GMOs could lead to the development of antibiotic-resistant bacteria. The debate over GMOs is complex and there is no easy answer. However, I believe that the potential benefits of GMOs outweigh the risks. GMOs have the potential to help us feed a growing global population and to reduce our reliance on pesticides and herbicides. They also have the potential to improve the nutritional value of our food.2. Resolved: The internet has had a negative impact on society. The internet has revolutionized the way we live our lives. It has made it easier to communicate with friends and family, to learn new things, and to access entertainment. However, some people argue that the internet has also had a negative impact on society. One of the main concerns about the internet is that it can be addictive. People can spend hours surfing the web, playing games, or watching videos. This can lead to problems with social isolation, sleep deprivation, and obesity.Another concern about the internet is that it can be a source of cyberbullying. Cyberbullying can have a devastating impact on victims, leading to depression, anxiety, and even suicide. Finally, some people worry that the internet is making us more narcissistic. Social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram encourage us to share our lives with others. This can lead to a constant need for attention and approval.I believe that the internet has had a mixed impact on society. While it has undoubtedly brought many benefits, it also has some potential drawbacks. It is important to be aware of these drawbacks and to use the internet in a healthy and balanced way.3. Resolved: The government should provide free healthcare to all citizens.Healthcare is a basic human right. Everyone deserves access to quality healthcare, regardless of their income oremployment status. The government has a responsibility to ensure that all citizens have access to the healthcare they need. There are many benefits to providing free healthcare to all citizens. First, it would improve the health of the population. People would be more likely to seek medical care if they did not have to worry about the cost. This would lead to earlier diagnosis and treatment of diseases, which would save lives and improve quality of life.Second, free healthcare would reduce poverty. Many people are forced to choose between paying for healthcare and paying for other necessities, such as food and housing. Free healthcare would eliminate this dilemma.Third, free healthcare would boost the economy. A healthy population is a productive population. People who are healthy are more likely to work and earn money. They are also more likely to be involved in their communities.I believe that the government should provide freehealthcare to all citizens. It is the right thing to do and it would have a positive impact on the health of the population, the economy, and society as a whole.中文回答:1. 同意,转基因生物的好处大于风险。

Teacher, a person who you care, famous, neighbor, old person, my friend:52. childI will talk about the things about my brother. He was five years old. Although he is very little, he gives everyone around him a mixed feeling. He is a trouble-maker and always play tricks with others. I remember he put an artificial snake on his father’s bed and gave him a big jump. Besides this, he is very cute and kind-hearted. Once he brought back a lost dog that hurt in his leg. After his considerate care ,the dog recovered very soon. At that moment, he acted as a man as if he had taken some sense of responsibility. He often reminds me of my beautiful memory about the childhood which is a little far away. I hope my brother can maintain his nature and enjoy his time. After all, childhood is the most memorable period during the whole life.53. An activity in English class:When I was in senior high school my teacher assigned a task that we would prepare for a small drama in English in groups which consist of five people each. We would translate lines and rehearse on our own. You know, studying English is a boring thing to some degree. You must have a strong interest in it if you want to have a good grasp of it. That activity made me do it. And during the preparation, we not only improved our English very rapidly, but also learnt how to get along well and co-operate with others. Every group did not want to lag behind, so every member in one group tried their best and was very careful with his part. You can guess, in the end the activity achieved great success. It became an unforgettable memory during my tense and monotonous life of senior high school54. Advantages of studying English:55. When to start to study English for children:I think children should study English as early as possible. Children have an innate ability to have a good grasp of one language; this ability will disappear step by step as he grows up. Some people say it will influence the learning of his mother tongue, I think it is no need to worry about it. After all he lives in an environment of speaking his native language57. Second foreign languageI want to choose French. is a country I like very much. And their romance, enthusiasm, tasty food and long history interest me deeply. If I can speak French well, I will have no difficulty when travel in one day in future. Language barrier is the biggest problem if you want to have a clearer picture about one country58. ShoppingI like shopping in the supermarket. because there are a wide variety of goods on the shelf. The beautiful goods themselves are beautiful scenery for me. even if I buy nothing. It is also a good time traveling around the shelves. In addition, the price of the goods there is reasonable. For a student, buying something in the supermarket is very economical. I go to the supermarket once a week generally59. Business:You know, most of the people don’t have a great sum of money. They can’t afford to set up a big business. And small business does not occupy too much money and more importantly, it is flexible. If the consumption trend changes, it is easy for people to give up one and engage in another.I think the business about women and children has a bright future. In china, women normally take the charge of finance in their family and parents spend their money on children without any hesitation, even if the spending goes beyond their financial ability. And women are unreasonable consumers. As long as they like, they will buy at once, no matter if the thing is practical or not. They are both important; knowledge will lay a solid foundation for you to grasp practical experience. It can help you absorb the essence of predecessors and give youtheoretical guidance. But without practical experience you are only a bookworm. There is always something you can not learn from books.60. A story heard in your childhoodI read a folk tale about the fisherman and his wife. One day the fisherman saveda fish’s life. The fish promised him it could realize any wish he wanted. His wife was a very greedy woman at first she just wanted a hut, then a big house, then a palace, and she wanted to be the king, the gods, even wanted the sun and the moon rose at the same time. You can imagine the ending of the story, she returned to her original place at last. This story impressed me very deeply. The greed of the humans is limitless, how to control your desire well is the thing we must understand. My father told me this story when I was very young.I think most of the parents will tell some stories to their children. This practice is worthwhile. Children are immature and innocent. Through stories, they can learn some sense and have an ability of distinguishing right from wrong. The stories lead them on the right track and shape them into responsible citizen in the future. In my childhood, the roles of Tom and Jerry are most popular. They not only bring some laughter, but also something deeper behind the stories.61. FilmsFilms have a far-reaching impact on social development. Some films reflect social important changes and revolutions. Some films predict future direction and potential threats and disasters; some films offer people a light mood and refreshing spirit. Some films teach people some senses which often throw them into deep thinking. For young children, because they are immature and naive, they have no enough ability to distinguish right from wrong. Their parents should take the responsibility for selecting suitable programs for them. You know some programs are full of violence, sex and bloody scenes. These are very harmful to their moral.Every child loves animals. They are lovely and cute. They make children laugh loudly and freely. Sometimes, children can see themselves from the animals.I think children like funny and interesting stories. If the story is about the animals, that’s better62. The experience of being late:Last semester, I had our experience of being late for class. Before I slept every night, I would set my alarm clock to wake me up the next morning. But that time my alarm clock had something wrong. And it was a coincidence that it was a gloomy day on that morning. When I woke up, I thought it was earlier. So I went on with my sleep. You can imagine in the end I missed the half ofthe class. When my teacher heard my explanation, he said nothing except on sentence: Remember seeing is not always believing. At that moment, he looked like a philosopher, this experience and my teacher’s words make me know something beyond my age.Topic Area: Information Technology Topic: Surfing the NetQuestions: (Warm-up questions)It is easy for you to access the Internet? Arguments for or against sending aged parents to nursing homesFor:Parents can achieve more care it save time for young couples who go to work all day without energy to look after their parents it proves unemployed man to go to work as caregivers. What our parents need is not to have a comfortable environment. They just want to have a chat with you; they just want to exchange ideas with you; they just want to be with you…No matter how hard the life is! Since it is a society with a high speed, we may have so much time to take care of parents well enough. So it is a good choice to send our parents there to have the worker look after them. They may feel comforted to help relieve their children’s stress. And we should show respect for their choice. The family is becoming smaller and smaller, which means the couple should take care of four parents and a child, and that is a big burden for the young generations. At the nursing home, the old may find a lot of things in common with the people there, and they can share their feelings. And it doesn’t mean that we desert them, we can often visit them and comfort them Aged parents will fell lonely if they stay at home by themselves. However, at the nursing homes, they will have many companions to talk with and to play with.. Some aged parents are in bad health, but their children are busy with their work.. On this condition, it’s a good idea to send them to nursing homes to get better care. For children, if they send their aged parents to nursing homes, they will worry less about their parents, so that they will wok much better.Against:1. Cause our parents have done a lot for us when we were still young, and now when we are grown up and have the ability to earn some money , we should try our best to do something for them and let them to live as they like ,enjoy some happy moments before their deaths.2. I think most aged people don't like the nursing home ,what they need at this time is not good food ,good nursing ,but love and care from their sons and daughters who they put their whole hopes on. We should give them love and look after them, as they did to us when we were young. What’s more, China is a country respect aged parents, we should follow the society's virtue. Young people leave elders alone in nursing homes elderly may have the feeling of being abandoned. I think it is totally wrong to send our parents to the nursing home. Our parents spared no efforts to bring us up, now when they become old; it is our duty to care for them, instead of sending them away.3. We should not only provide our parents with economic resources, but also we should give them spiritual comfort. And this is the most important since elder peopleare very much afraid of loneliness.4. Now the environment of the nursing home is not that satisfactory. It may be very dirty, noisy and unorderly in the old peo ple’s house. And the food there might be very bad, not to mention having balanced diets.5. In the nursing home, there are nearly no young people. Even the workers there are a little old. There is no vigor at all.6. The ability to adapt to the strange environment is weak. Maybe they have adapted to the familiar family and neighborhood. And they are not willing to change.7. Influenced by our traditional culture, it is rooted in our mind that it is the happiest thing to have a large family and have their sons and daughters and grandsons and granddaughters around. If we send them to the nursing home they may feel deserted.8. It is a regular law that the older we become, the more we feel the need to get together with our family.9. You may argue that we may have no time and energy to take care of our parents. But I believe as well as we spare no effort, we are sure to find time to accompany our parents and in turn we are relieved to have a wonderful time with them. And this is a perfect way to relax.10. since we are not so independent as the young in the West, our parents may become used to living with us, so we had better keep our parents with us. Have you remember the song sung in the Spring Festival Evening Show 常回家看看。
What our parents need is not to have a comfortable environment. They just want to have a chat with you; they just want to exchangei deas with you; they just want to be with you…No matter how hard the life is!11. Some children just send their aged parents to nursing homes, and later care little about their parents ,which makes their parents very sad.12. For some aged parents, they want to stay with their children every day, then they will fell very happy and satisfied. Therefore, it’s against their will to send them to nursing homes.13. Some nursing homes are far from satisfactory, and they are not able to bring aged parents happiness Arguments for or against asking pocket money from our parents.Arguments for or against asking pocket money from our parentsWith the development of our modern society, peoples living conditions become much more comfortable. But along with intense competition, parents have less time to consider children needs in all-round. One method to solve this contradiction is to give children some pocket money. Pocket money is useful to children. But whether the children are considerable enough to make correct use of these money. For: Someone believe that giving children pocket money really has many advantages. With pocket money, children can buy their daily necessities such as pencils, little toys, and snack food they like. It will give children a certain freedom to select what they want, make them aware rules of the equivalent exchange. Since time to parents is very precious, giving pocket money to children help them tosave time spent in shopping, but used in busy working and earning money. It can enable children to gain the ability to manage money earlier, which is good for their development. Children will be happy if they often get pocket money, and they can buy what they love, which contributes to a happy childhood. We can guide children to use their pocket money properly to make good use of it. Sometimes, children will be happy to do something if they can get pocket money. To them , it’s a good encouragement. We are too young to support ourselves on our own. It is very convenient outside home if we have some packet money with us. It can enable children to gain the ability to manage money earlier, which is good for their development. Children will be happy if they often get pocket money, and they can buy what they love, which contributes to a happy childhood. We can guide children to use their pocket money properly to make good use of it. Sometimes, children will be happy to do something if they can get pocket mone y. To them ,it’s a good encouragement.Against: Young children do not know how to use pocket money appropriately, they possibly consume all the money to buy expensive merchandise that they like, and then ask for extra money from their parents. Some parents cosset(溺爱) their children, and always give them a large amount of pocket money. Such conditions will make children become more and more prodigal. Since adults do not supervise the procedure of shopping, children could probably buy something that is not suitable for their age, such as adult magazines. Our parents make money by working day and night, we should help them to support the family and not just want to ask money for our parents. If we can always get money from our parents , it is easy to develop the bad habit of spending money randomly. We are old enough to support ourselves by getting a part-time job. We should have a proper conception of money. 1,Children are too youny to know how to spend their pocket money. Often, they use the money wrongly, which leads to a big waste.2 Some children develop a bad habit of comparing themselves with others concerning pocket money, and that’s harmful to them. 3.Some children do a lot of harmful things with pocket money ,such as playing computer games, drinking and so on, which is bad.Arguments for or against requiring high school students to wear school uniformsFor(1)The school uniform is a symbol of students. Dressing uniform will help to shape the school's overall image.what’s more, it can enhance the studen ts’ identity ofthe school.(2) It is important that students pay more attention to their school work than to their clothes. Caring too much about how they dress shouldn't be a big concern for students. If they wear uniforms, they don't have to worry about what they wear.(3) School uniforms helps to eliminate socio-economical barriers. Many students come from diverse backgrounds; however, inside the walls of the school, economic advantages and disadvantages are no longer obvious.(4) If students wear uniforms, they will remember that they are students and they will always be reminded of what students should or shouldn't do.(5) One of the chief benefits of school uniforms is their ability to make schools safer. Studies have shown that they help to reduce gang influences.Against: (1)School uniforms inhibit students€™ individuality. Young people often express th eir feelings through the clothing that they wear. Uniforms will take away this form of expression. Why should school districts try to make everyone look the same?(2) . A school uniform policy inhibits a student's freedom of choice. Schools teach students that our country is a free one. But when school boards make students wear what they tell them too-- it curtails the students' freedom.(3)There is the issue of cost. Many parents shop for their children's clothes at used and discount stores. Uniforms can cost more money than these families might be able to afford. Also, these students would need to buy additional clothing to wear after school and on the weekends. That's double the amount of money a family would spend than they would without the uniforms. (4)The another reason I do not enjoy the thought of school uniforms is comfort. Students enjoy wearing comfortable clothing to school. Uniforms are not necessarily comfortable. Also, wearing a uniform might make the student uncomfortable around people outside the school who don'thave to wear a uniform.(5)Students should wear the uniforms for almost a week. It’s easy for the uniform to ge t dirty and not conducive to personal hygiene.Arguments for or against the view that one’s fate is a decisive factor in one’s lifeForReasons for “Yes” Unfortunate fate decides unfortunate life . Such as disabled people , whose starting line is lower than others , may suffer discrimination everywhere . If two persons of the same level apply for one position , it’s no doubt that most bosses prefer the abled person. Poverty is of vital importance to one’s fate which can decide one’s life . For example , if one doesn’t have money to go to school , how can he change his life by knowledge ? Where you are born can decide what life you will own . Students of Beijing and Shanghai can be admitted to famous universities by a lower score while students from Shandong must have a very very high score if you want to go to a key college . People always say that college entrance examination is equal , but from the minute you are born , it has been decided unequal . In ancient times , the children of royalty and high-class officials have higher social positions than average men’s kids . They can escape from the hard life from their birth . In addition ,some people can become millionaires because of a lottery ticket (彩票) ,while some people can suffer from a traffic accident . Aren’t these fates?AgainstReasons for “No”The disabled can also master their fate , such as Zhang Haidi , Tai Lihua , Sang Lan . As long as one decides to challenge the present situation , he can create a beautiful life . Many wealthy men aren’t bound to have a brilliant background when they were children . However , they create wealth using there own hands . Even though you aren’t born in Beijing or Shanghai , you aren’t admitted to Peking or Tinghua University , you can study hard to earn a better life . Not every person who has a great life is graduated from Peking and Tinghua University , many of them even haven’t gone to college . As the old saying goes: Every road leads to Rome . Not every dynasty could exist for a long time . The farmer can rise up to reverse the government , such as Zhu Yuanzhang . From a monk to a king , is it determined by fate ? It’s created by his own effort . Lottery tickets aren’t only decided by fate , it also nee d your own knowledge , such as football lottery tickets . On the other hand , how many big prizes are got by only one try but not memberous failures ?Arguments for or against requiring high school students to wear school uniformsFOR*Time saving. I didn't have to THINK about what I was going to wear to school. This took the fashion element out of my experience, yes, but it also made the morning less hectic. It completely eliminates fights between children and parents over clothing choices. More importantly, it puts clothing in perspective. It shouldn't be the most important decision a child or teen has to make in the morning. *Money Saving Parents have a lot of financial decision to make. One of them shouldn't be about how much money they are willing to spend to keep their child up to date with what others are wearing. There's a place for fashion clothing, but is it important to make a fashion statement every day at school? Having a uniform allows children to keep their best clothes for going out, making them appreciate them more; and it allows parents to save money for things that are more important to their child's life. *Equality. Clothing is just one of the many areas in which students are harshly judged by their peers. I was already last to be chosen in gym because of my size. I can't imagine how bad it would be if I was also judged because my parents couldn't afford to buy me designer jeans. Uniforms even the playing field, at least in one aspect of school life. *Focus. I didn't wear my uniform anywhere else but school, so putting it on put my mind in the frame of school. You know how different you feel when you dress up. You sit differently at home when you are in your grungy clothes than when you are wearing your work clothes. You associate different activities with clothes. I remember the first time I saw a parent buying "school clothes" for her child. I couldn't tell the difference between "school clothes" and "play clothes", since the parent was buying a variety of shorts and T-shirts. If I couldn't tell the difference, I'm sure the child couldn't. While children should have fun in school, uniforms provide a subtle reminder that there is something different happening at school than at home or at the park. *Setting Priorities. What do we tell our children when we start them in Kindergarten with designer clothes and shoes? I know that all parents don't fall into the "label" trap, but many do. And, as I've mentioned previously, those who can't afford the "labels" are harshly judged by those who can't. When wearing a "label" becomes a priority, it sets priorities out of whack. What's more important making a fashion statement or getting a good education? I'm not saying that wearing fashion clothing eliminates the possibility of a good education. I'm just saying that putting more time and money into fashion clothing tells children that it is more important than education. What surprises me most with this issue is the number of people who are against uniforms. There is nothing about them that will harm a student - yet students and parents have a lot to gain from them if they only take a moment to consider the benefits. AGAINSTI don't believe that public school students should be required to wear uniforms. There are many problems with enforcing a uniform in public schools, but for the sake of not turning this into a book, I will only name a few.1. Individuality- With most schools cutting most arts out of their budgets and writing assignments being mostly research papers and reports, how else do students have to express themselves but with their clothing and hair styles? Most school uniforms require students to only wear certain colors, styles, and some even limit hair styles! How is a student supposed to show his or her uniqueness?2. Concentration- I have found that students required to wear uniforms are more focused on what they can or can't wear that they start "slipping up" when it comes to academic work. Most students come to think negatively about the school and even begin to hate attending classes.3. Safety- Most schools are enforcing a uniform because they are worried about gangs, other violence, popularity negatively affecting their students. I believe that they fail to realize that students will adjust and learn to "represent" their "status" regardless of what they are required to wear. Popularity will still be an issue surrounding studeno matter what any school tries to do. It is just a fact of life. Some people are more popular to others and there are always gong to be cruel people in existence.4.School uniforms have placed on extra burden on lower-middle class parents, and there are many discrimination among the different uniforms in different school. Schools need to seriously attempt to enforce their current dress codes before instating a uniform policy. At my old high school, there was a dress code, but they adopted a uniform because, "...a majority of students aren't adhering to the dress code. Therefore, we believe a uniform is the best action to take..." Students weren't adhering to the dress code because there was NO punishment for it. Teachers were supposed to write two warnings and after that, they were to suspend the student. The teachers felt that it took too much of their time to write the warnings and depended on the administrators to issue them. Schools need to consider their students and the negative and positive outcomes of having a uniform. Nine times out of ten, the negatives far out weigh the positives。
