英语阅读出现MUST,ONLY,NEVER一般都是错的。

Move Earth — it's no science fictionLONDON — Scientists have found an unusual way to prevent our planet from overheating:move it to a cooler spot. All you have to do is send a few comets(彗星)in the direction of Earth, and its orbit(轨道)will be changed. Our world will then be sent spinning into a safer, colder part of the solar system. This idea for improving our climate comes from a group of US National Aeronautics and Space Administration(NASA) engineers and American astronomers. They say their plan could add another six billion years to the useful lifetime of our planet—effectively doubling its working life. The plan put forward by Dr Laughlin, and his colleagues Don Korycansky and Fred Adams, needs carefully directing a comet or asteroid so that it passes close by our planet and sends some of its gravitational energy to Earth.“Earth's orbital speed would increase as a result and we would move to a higher orbit away from the Sun,” Laughlin said.Engineers would then direct their comet so that it passed close to Jupiter or Saturn. The comet would pick up energy from one of these giant ter its orbit would bring it back to Earth, and the process would be repeated. In the short term, the plan provides an ideal way to global warming, although the team was actually concerned with a much greater danger. The sun is certain to heat up in about a billion years and so “seriously compromise”our biosphere(生物圈)—by cooking us.That's why the group decided to try to save Earth. The plan has one or two worrying aspects, however. For a start, space engineers would have to be very careful about how they directed their asteroid or comet towards Earth. The smallest miscalculation(误算)in orbit could fire it straight at Earth—with deadly consequences. There is also the question of the Moon.As the current issue of Scientific American以约30词概括文章大意_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________Ⅱ. 1.What makes the scientists plan to move Earth?A.A few comets are moving to the direction of Earth.B.Earth's working life is coming to an end soon.C.Earth will become too hot for mankind to keep alive.D.The moon is moving farther and farther away from Earth.2.If the plan is successful,Earth will have a working life of ________years.A.12 billion B.6 billionC.18 billion D.24 billion3.What serious problems might the plan cause according to the passage?A.The comet might hit Earth and man might lose the moon.B.Earth might be moved too far away and man might be frozen to death.C.The comet might hit Jupiter or Saturn and never return to Earth.D.Earth's working life might be greatly shortened.4.What does the underlined word “compromise” mean?A.provide B.benefitC.share D.endanger5.Which of the following best shows how the plan would work?参考答案ⅠThe text is about a way to save the earth from overheating:to send a few comets in the direction of Earth, making the earth spin into a safer, colder part of the solar system.(35 words)Ⅱ1. The sun is certain to heat up in about a billion years and so “seriously compromise” our biosphere(生物圈)— by cooking us.
Section D Directions: Read the passage carefully. Then answer the questions or complete the statements in the fewest possible words. Sociologists have long recognised that organisations of less than 200 individuals can operate through the free flow of information among the members. Once their size goes beyond this figure, the organizations are getting less flexible. So it seems necessary to prevent total disorder resulting from failures of communication. One solution to this problem would, of course, be to structure large organisations into smaller units of a size that can act as a group. By allowing these groups to build reliance on each other, larger organizations can be built up. However, merely having groups of, say, 150 will never of itself be a complete solution to the problems of the organization. Something else is needed: the people involved must be able to build direct personal relationships. To allow free flow of information, they have to be able to communicate with each other in a casual way. Maintaining too formal a structure of relationships inevitably prevents the way a system works. The importance of this was drawn to my attention two years ago by the case of a TV station. Whether by chance or by design, it so happened that there were almost exactly 150 people in the station. The whole process worked very smoothly as an organization for many years until they were moved into purpose-built accommodation. Then, for no apparent reason, the work seemed to be more difficult to do, not to say less satisfying. It was some time before they work out what the problem was. It turn out that, when the architects were designing the new building, they decided that the coffee room where everyone ate their sandwiches at lunch times was an unnecessary luxury and so did away with it. And with that, they accidentally destroyed the close social networks that strengthened the whole organization. What had apparently been happening was that, as people gathered informally over their sandwiches in the coffee room, useful information was casually being exchanged.
(Note: Answer the questions or complete the statements in NO MORE THAN EIGHT ORDS.) 81. What size of an organization may lead to communication failures? 82. What are the two solutions to the communication problem within a large organization? 83. After the TV station moved into new accommodation, its operation _____________. 84. From the case of the TV station, we can conclude it is ______________ that make(s) an organization more successful.
An organization of more than 200 individuals. 本段中的第一句“Sociologists have long recognised that organisations of less than 200 individuals can operate through the free flow of information among the members.”
82. 【参考答案】Structuring smaller organizations and building direct personal relationships. 第二段的第一句“One solution to this problem would, of course, be to structure large organisations into smaller units of a size that can act as a group.”中有一个“solution”, 即:“structure large organisations into smaller units of size that can act as a group”。另一个“solution”是“the people involved must be able to build direct personal relationships”。 完整的句子则是:“Structuring smaller organizations and building direct personal relationships are the two solutions to the communication problem within a large organization.”,然后再这基础上进行改写。
83. 【参考答案】seemed to be more difficult / less satisfying 【解题思路】 本题涉及的内容在第三段,具体的句子是“The whole process worked very smoothly as an organization for many years until they were moved into purpose-built accommodation. Then, for no apparent reason, the work seemed to be more difficult to do, not to say less satisfying.”。关键词是:“smoothly, until, moved into, more difficult, less satisfying”。
