I suddenly had the feeling of not being able to feel the ground with my feet anymore. For my 10th birthday, my sister and I Were taken out to the Great Barrier Reef. There were fish in different colors, caves and layers of coral. They made such an impression on me. When I learned that only 1 percent of Australia's Coral Sea was protected, I was shocked. Australian marine life is particularly important because the reefs have more marine species than any other country on earth. But sadly, only 45% of the world's reefs are considered healthy. This statistic is depressing, so it's important forms to do everything to protect them. The hope that the Coral Sea remains a complete eco-system has led me to take action. I've become involved with the Protect Our Coral Sea activity, which aims to create the largest marine park in the world. It would serve as a place where the ocean's species will all have a safe place forever.Together, Angus and I created a little video and we hope it will inspire people to be a part of the movement. Our need for closure is our natural preference for definite answers over confusion and uncertainty. Every person has their own baseline level of need for closure. It likely evolved via natural selection. What I find really fascinating is how our need for closure is affected by the situationwe're in. Our need for closure rises when we have to act rather than just observe, and it matters much more when we're rushed, or bored, or tired. Any stress can make our discomfort with uncertainty increase, and a high need for closure negatively influences some of our most important decisions: who we decide to trust, whether we admit we're wrong and even how creative we are.In hiring, for instance, a high need for closure leads people to put far too much weight on their first impression. It's called the Urgency Effect. In one experiment, psychologists tried to lower people's need for closure by telling them, right before participants are about to make various judgments of a job candidate, that they'll be responsible in some way for them, or that their judgments have serious consequences. In making any big decision, it's not enough just to know that we should take our time. We all know that important decisions shouldn't be rushed. The problem is that we don't keep that advice in mind when it matters. So, one of the best solutions is to formalize the reminders. Before making important decisions, write down not just advantages and disadvantages butwhat the consequences could be. Also, think about how much pressure you're under. If your need for closure is particularly high that day, it's even more important to think twice.32. How does "need for closure" probably come into being?A. By nature.B. By accident.C. By acquiring.D. By imitating.33. It can be inferred that a high need for closure_____.A. brings about more stressB. causes discomfort and uncertaintyC. leads to not so good decisionsD. promotes one's creativity34. In the experiment the psychologists reduced participants ' need for closure by telling them to_____.A. be cautious about their judgmentsB. value their first impressionC. be responsible for their bossD. pay little attention to the consequences35. What would the author probably discuss in the paragraph that follows?A Another strategy to escape the pressures of modern life.B.Some serious consequences of making decisions.C.Other approaches to making important decisions.D.More helpful solutions to high need for closure.第二节(共5 小题;每小题2 分,满分10 分):根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填人空白处的最佳选项。

A LONDON—The Britain-China relationship will be "greater" this year after a "golden" year of 2015, Prime Minister David Cameron said at a reception in his office attended by about 100 representatives from Britain and China to celebrate the Chinese Lunar New Year.
―If you want one year of harvest, grow grain. If you want ten years of harvest, grow trees. If you want a thousand years of harvest, grow relationships between people and people, Cameron used a Chinese saying to explain the reason why they engaged in the building of this great relationship between Britain and China.
Speaking highly of Chinese President Xi Jinping's visit to Britain last year, Cameron said it not only helped build up a golden age of bilateral(双边的)relationship, but also led to deals worth around 40 billion pounds ($57.7 billion). It's reported that Britain accounts for around 30 percent of China s total investment (投资)in Europe. According to the British government, Britain is also China‖s second latest exporter in Europe. "It is great when you think about how deep and strong the relationship is,‖ said Cameron, adding that the two countries are working closely with each other in areas of trade, investment, finance, education and so on.
―I think education is an area we can take to an even higher level. Many Chinese students are studying in Britain. I would like to see more British students take the opportunities to go and study in China. I think there is a huge opportunity in the years ahead.‖ Cameron said.

B I wasn’t sure what this work involved, but it must have been exciting because the Lab itself was exciting. Anywhere we didn’t go often was exciting. We would get there in a heavy wooden rowboat, built in the five-house village half a mile away --- our mother would row, she was quite good at it --- or by following a twisty, winding footpath, over fallen trees and around rocks. It was too far for us to walk and our legs were too short, so mostly we went in the rowboat. The Lab was made of wood; it seemed huge, though in the two photographs of it that survive it looks like a small house. Inside it there were things we weren’t allowed to touch – bottles containing a dangerous liquid in which young white insects floated, their six tiny front legs held together like praying fingers, and plugs that smelled like poison and plates with dried insects. All of this was so forbidden which made us confused. At the Lab we could hide in the ice house, a dark and secret place that was always bigger on the inside than it was on the outside, where there was a silence, and a lot of sawdust(木屑) to keep the blocks of ice cool. What did we do in there? There was nothing to actually do. We’d pretended we had disappeared suddenly – that nobody knew where we were. This in itself was strangely energetic. Then we’d come out, away from the silence, back into the pine-needle fragrance and the sound of waves beating against the shore, and our mother’s voice calling us, because it was time to get back into the rowboat and row home. 24, In Line 1, ―this wok‖ clearly refers to _______. A. Writing B. food science B. C. photography D. insect research 25, The details of the passage suggest that the author is _______. A. an adult remembering a recent incident B. an elderly person thinking of her middle age C. an adult looking back on a place from childhood D. a child describing a frightening place 26, The description of the Lab and ice house are similar in that both _______.
