Blanche Vavra was careful to spend her money all her life. She tried to save money whenever she could. Vavra never married nor had a child. She had supported
her mother since her father passed away. She never bought anything she didn’t need. She put most of her money in a bank.
“She wears very common clothes every day,” one of Vavra’s neighbors told the local newspaper, “but she looks very nice.”
When Vavra passed away at the age of 90, her friends were surprised to see how much she had saved: $2.8 million. She’s saved nearly all of her income. According to her decision, the money would be donated to 11 charities in her local area.
