What a strange day! First, I saw a dog on the way to school. OK, that?s not so strange. But the dog was wearing a hat and sunglasses. And someone was feeding him ice cream. Then, the guy took a bite of the ice cream himself. How disgusting!
At school, classes were pretty much the same as usual. We watched a neat movie in history class. It was about World War II. The photographers were very brave. They took pictures during the fighting! I don?t think I would do that.
In the hallway on the first floor，I saw the most amazing thing. A girl was dressed in a really expensive dress. She was dressed in a really expensive dress. She wore diamond earrings, and her makeup looked great. I thought it was the president?s daughter! Can you believe it? It was Cecilia Dryer!!! I almost fainted. She never looks so good. It may still be six days until the 34th anniversary（周年纪念日）of the Tangshan Earthquake, believed to be the largest earthquake of the 20th century, but Aftershock, the movie about it, opens today to the public.
The movie took the first 30 minutes to tell the story of the earthquake. That 30 minutes is really moving（感人的）. It makes people sad with parts of buildings falling and injured people and while it feels like the quake goes on for a long time, it probably is over in a few minutes.
Yuan Ni, the mother who lost her husband in the quake had to make the difficult decision between saving her son or her daughter, and she chose her son. What she doesn't know is that her daughter survives（活下来）the quake, though she says she has no memory of what happened. She lives in another family and grows up in comfortable conditions, while her mother and younger brother (who lost an arm in the quake) have a hard life in Tangshan. The story follows the two paths of the two children (who are twins) as they grow up, as well as the hard experience faced by her mother, before ending with the Sichuan earthquake in 2008 that brings about a family get-together.
It tells a very moving story and it will have you thinking about it long after. This was the quickest Chinese movie to ever reach RMB100 million and it's probably going to set viewing records（观看记录）in 2010.

Want to stay away from colds? Put on a happy face.
Compared to unhappy people, those who are cheerful and relaxed are less likely to suffer from colds, according to a new study. It's possible that being happy helps the body fight illnesses, say the researchers from New York University.
"It seems that positive feelings may reduce the danger of illness," said the study's chief researcher Sheldon Cohen. In an earlier study, Cohen found that people who were cheerful and lively caught coughs and colds less often. People who showed positive feelings were also less likely to tell their doctors that they felt ill. In this study, Cohen's group interviewed 193 adults every day for two weeks. During the interviews, the people told researchers about the happy or bad feelings they had that day. After two weeks, the people were given colds by doctors and had to stay alone in a room for six days.
The results showed that everyone in the study was equally likely to get ill. But for people who said they felt happy during the research period, their illness are less serious and lasted for a shorter time.
Cohen believes that when people experience positive feelings, their body may produce a chemical that helps fight illness and disease. So if you are worried about your health, look on the bright side more often.
