Several months ago, I saw a movie named “Confessions of a Shopaholic”. It?s story about how a girl changed from a shopaholic to a successful writer. That?s a quite good story, especially when the girl really rid herself of the debt of credit card, I even clap my hands for her brave behavior. The movie reminds me a lot. I think this isn?t just a story about credit card addiction or swinging cards, but it also warns us about a kind of consumption. It has done much harm to our society, such as wasting sources, damaging the environment, stop a country or a region from sustainable development, even worse, it help the class consciousness grow.

ⅠLuxuries: Lose Their Soul
What I?m tr ying to tell you is, buying luxuries is not so good as you imagine. In a way, luxuries are not bad because it represents a brand that can guarantee its quality, and it?s a symbol of enjoying life.
Now I have some measures for you to read: There?s a 30% raise of the luxury sales amount, and as the experts predict, the number of people who are willing to pay for luxuries will raise from 40 million up to 160 million in 5 years.
A quite large group and a quite large amount of money, right? But do we have to? We don?t have to wear leathers, in fact, cotton is quite comfortable, and it?s looks good as well; we don?t have to wear a watch with all the bijou, let?s just wear an electronic meter; we don?t have to wear all the jewels, the colorful silicone bracelets are quite amazing.

Most of you will say yes, especially you are a shopaholic or you have some your own hobbies. Collecting things as a hobby is not bad, but when we buy things we can?t fully use, something like too much food, too many pen-holders(just because they look good, you bought it without hesitater), too many clothes…… You just buy it out of some reasons, but the reason is
not fully using it, at least you don?t use up all of them at last.
This can left us a big problem. The more we consume, the more rubbish we will make. Day after day, the rubbish will get more and more, and the environment, however, can?t bear this, or we should say that the nature can?t degrade so much rubbish one time, finally, all we get is a freaking-out nature system.
My mom usually criticizes me because of those “emba rrassin g”rubbish. She calls things this way to remind me that I have too many things that never use and no use but regrettable to drop. But once we really drop it, we will result in another problem: we make too much trash, and those will finally pollute the environment.
Now many countries have set up a policy to limit people?s rubbish discharge per day. It specifically regulates how much rubbish one or a family can drop out, and as for the punishment, they are very severe. In this way, people will know the importance of making less rubbish and they will get to know the importance of environmental protection as well. They won?t buy anything they don?t need, they will simply take what they really need, and they will work out a way to reduce the discharge of rubbish.
I think this policy is exactly what we need now. Many people don?t know about how serious it is to buy too many things and to make too much rubbish. They just don?t know. And this policy will get them know the seriousness, so they can also help protect the environment, and the more people join in, the more possibility the environment have to get better.
