④ 21~99除整十位数外,十位和个位中间要加连字符“-”。

如: twenty-one, thirty-two, ninety-nine。

⑤ 100为a/one hundred,101~ 999除整百位数外,先说几百加and,再说末尾两位数或末位数。

⑥千位以上的数从数字的右端向左端数起,每三位数加一个逗号。从右开始,第一个“,”前的数字后加thousand,第二个“,”前的数字后加million,第三个“,”前的数字后加billion。然后一节一节分别表示,两个逗号之间最大的数为百位数形式。

①表示名词数量的多少。

②表示年龄、价格、时间、年代。

如:? twelve years old 12岁

? two hundred and ninety yuan 290元

? five o'clock 5点钟

? in March,1994 在1994年3月

? in the 1980s 在20世纪80年代

③表示各种号码(车牌号、门牌号或电话号码等)。

如:? in Flat 603 在603号公寓

④表示各种数量或数的加、减。

如:? nine plus twelve 9加12

提醒:①当hundred, thousand, million 等前面有具体数字时,用单数形式。如:? About 1. 35 million people live in our city.

大约有135万人居住在我们的城市。

②表示不确定的数目要用“hundreds/ thousands/millions + of”结构。

如:? There are hundreds of people in the hall. 礼堂里有数以百计的人。

③表示人的不确切岁数或年代,用整十数词的复数形式。

如:? He became a professor in his thirties. 他30多岁时成了教授。

? It was in the 1960s. 那是在20世纪60年代。

20.序数词

解析:(1) 含义:表示顺序的词叫作序数词。

(2) 构成:①第1、第2、第3分别为first, second, third。

②第4~19都由基数词加+ th构成。注意fifth(第5),eighth(第8),ninth(第9),twelfth(第12)的拼写。

③整十位数序数词,将y变为ie,然后再加-th。

如:twentieth(第20),fiftieth(第50)。

④几十几的序数词,十位数用基数词,个位数用序数词,中间加连字符“-”。如:twenty first(第21),thirty second(第32)。

⑤整百、千、百万等的序数词,由hundred,thousand,million等加-th,前面加基数词构成。如: one hundredth(第100)。

(3)用法:①表示顺序、次序。

如:the first month of a year 一年中的第一个月

②表示日期。

如:on the eighth of March 在3月8日

③表示编号。

如:the first unit第一单元on the sixth floor 在七楼

提醒:①使用序数词时,前面应加定冠词the,但如果序数词前已经有其他限定词,则不加the。

如:? His first name is Mike. But I don't know his family name.

他名叫迈克。但我不知道他的姓。

②序数词起副词作用时,前面可省略the。

如:? Daniel always comes first in maths exams.
