Unit 1 How can we become good learners ？
Words and phrases
一、conversation n. 交谈，会话；
1、talk 内容可正式可不正式, 也可以私人 : Let’s have a talk.
2、conversation 一般用于正式文体中, 内容上往往不正式: They are having a conversation.
3、dialogue 对话, 可以指正式国家与国家会谈 : China and Korea are having a dialogue.
4、chat 闲聊, 就是北京人说的“侃” , 说的是无关紧要的事.
5、gossip 嚼舌头, 说长道短

二、pronunciation n. 发音
pronounce vt. 发音；宣判；断言vi. 发音；作出判断

….by reading loud to practice pronunciations.
四、aloud /laud/ adv. 大声地；出声地p.2 read aloud朗读, think aloud自言自语地说
1、aloud
(1)通常与动词read, speak, think 等动词连用强调“出声”，即把话说出来，而不是在心里默默地“说”
( 2) 表示“大声地”，通常与动词 cry, laugh, shout, call 等动词连用，
如： She called aloud for help. 她大声呼救。
2. loud 表示“大声”或“响亮”，可用作形容词和副词：
(1)如：He has a loud voice. 他嗓门大。
(2) 用作副词(与 loudly 同义) 作副词时，意为“高声地;响亮地”，常与speak, talk, sing, laugh等动词连用
3. loudly的用法loudly 只用作副词(与用作副词的 loud 同义)。如：Don’t talk so loudly [loud]. 别这么大声讲话。
五、patient adj. 有耐性的，能容忍的n. 病人；患者
be patient of能忍受You should be patient of criticism. 你应该能容忍批评。
be patient with对……有耐心
You’ll have to be patient with my mother—she’s going rather deaf. 你对我母亲得有耐心――她的耳朵越来越不好使了。
六、expression /ikspre?n/ n. 表达（方式）；表示p.3
n. 表现，表示，表达；表情，脸色，态度，腔调，声调；式，符号；词句，语句，措辞，说法
express vt. 表达；快递[ 过去式 expressed 过去分词 expressed 现在分词 expressing ]
adj. 明确的；迅速的；专门的
n. 快车，快递，专使；捷运公司

You can say that something happens overnight when it happens very quickly and unexpectedly. 突然地
例：The rules are not going to change overnight.这些规则是不会突然改变的。
If something happens overnight, it happens throughout the night or at some point during the night. 通宵地; 在夜间
例：The decision was reached overnight.这个决定是夜间做出的。Alexander Graham Bell did not invent the telephone overnight.
