Surrounded by a community of innovators,I improved my skills to explore the transformative power of technology in preserving cultural heritage.In2019;the world watched in horror as Notre Dame de Paris(巴黎圣母院)was consumed in flames.Determined to contribute to the-restoration efforts,I took the lead in developing a digital ecosystem for the restoration operation. We developed groundbreaking AI tools generating 3D representations from photographs.By tracking the position and shape of voussoirs(拱石),and digitizing them from photographs,we were able to use the fine geometric information of the voussoirs to reconstruct the arch, thus giving valuable tnformatron to the architects about the structure, the exact geometry, and especially about constructive details of the oldest areas of the church from the 13th century.Notably,AI played a pivotal role in the process. As the restoration project progresses, the AI-driven preservation continues to advance. This knowledge will definitely serve as raw material to be used for AI systems, for example, for studies that can be extended to other buildings.Today, the restoration project is in an extremely advanced state. We hope to complete the restoration work before the 2024 Paris Olympics,so that this architectural masterpiece can regain its former glory.4.What led the author to computer science initially?posing music with CAD.B.Exploring computers for music.C.Studying for a degree in architecture.D.Developing sound sampling systems.5.What is the third paragraph mainly about?A.The application of AI in restoration.B.The structure of Notre Dame de Paris.C.The destruction of Notre Dame de Paris.D.The development of AI digital ecosystem.高三第二次模拟考试英语试题第3页(共10页)6.What does the underlined word"pivotal"in paragraph 3 mean?A.Secondary.B.Independent.C.Discouraging:D.Crucial7.What is the author's attitude towards the AI-driven preservation?A.Indifferent.B.Skeptical.C.Optimistic.D.Objective.CLooking up at the sky during early spring, you may see groups of birds moving as they migrate (迁徙)north. But how do these creatures fly in such a cooperative and seemingly effortless fashion?“The answer lies in aerodynamics(空气动力学),”reports a team of scientists from New York University(NYU)in a newly published study. They also found that the impact of aerodynamics depends on the size of the flying group—benefiting small groups and disturbing large ones.To mimic(模仿)the flying patterns of birds,in which they line up one directly behind the other, the researchers created mechanized wings. They were 3D-printed from plastic and.driven by motors to move in water, which showed how air flows around bird wings and how they interact during flight. For smaller groups, the researchers discovered an effect by which each member gets help from the aerodynamics in holding its position relative to its neighbors. For larger groups, however, these flying interactions cause later members to be thrown out of position, causing a breakdown of the flying patteros due to crashes among members. The researchers then used mathematical modeling to better understand the underlying forces. It indicates that the interactions between neighbors are spring-like forces. However, these “springs”act in only one direction—a lead bird can apply force on its followers, but not the other way around.“The spring-like forces move the members back and forth and then travel down the group and increase in intensity, causing later members to crash together,"explains Leif Ristroph,an associate professor at New York University.“This area of research is important since animals are known to take advantage of the flows to save on the energy or to reduce drag or resistance,"explains Leif Ristroph."Our work may also have applications in transportation —like efficient speeding through air or water—and energy, such as more effectively harvesting power from wind or waves.”高三第二次模拟考试英语试顾第4页(共10页)8.What is the major focus of the NYU researchers'study on birds?A.The migration patterms of birds.B.The flying routes in early spring.C.The benefits of smaller bird grouping.D.The aerodynamc effects on bird groups.9.How do flying interactions affect smaller groups of birds?A.They lead to a breakdown.B.They disturb the formation.C.They help each member in position.D.They cause crashes among members.10.Why does the author mention “springs”in paragraph 4?A.To make a contrast.B.To explain a principle.C.To put forward a theory.D.To present new evidence.11.According to Leif Ristroph,What might be a potential application of this research?A.Relieving public traffic jams.B.Improving harvest of solar energy.C.Changing migration routes of birds.D.Decreasing air resistance of planes.DThe ban on cigarette advertising in the early 1970s in the United States serves as a fascinating case study in the field of public health campaigns and their unintended consequences.Desprte the govemment's intention to discourage smoking and reduce related health risks, the ban led to an unexpected outcome:an increase in cigarette sales for the major tobacco companies. The reason for this unexpected outcome can be traced to the principles of game theory, particularly the prisoner's dilemma paradox(悖论).Just as in the prisoner's dilemma, where cooperation leads to the best outcome for both parties, the tobacco companies would benefit collectively if none of them advertised. This action would create fairness in competition, ensuring that no individual company gains an edge by advertising. However, the dilemma arises when considering the potential actions of eompetitors. If one tobacco company decides to ignore the ban and advertise its products,it stands.to gain a significant market share and increased sales compared to its non-advertising competitors. This creates a situation where each company faces the urge to advertise, fearing that their competitors may do the same and leave them at a disadvantage.高三第二次模拟考试英语试题第5页(共10页)In the end, most tobaco companies deided to play it safe and invested in advetising, despite the ban,to avoid being lef behind in the competive landscape. This stategic deision relleets the uncertainty and stategrc considerations that hape business decisions, even in the face of regulations aimed at public health goals. This application of game theory provides vatuable insight into the complexies of influencing human behavior through policy interventions. While wellintended efforts such as adverising bans may sem staightforward in theory, the realies of stategic decision-making and competitive dynamics ofen lead to unforeseen outcomes. As such, understanding the complexies of game theory can provide valuable insight for poliymakers seeking to deign more effective interventions and address complex societal challenges.12.What is a direct result of the ban in the 1970s?A.Cut in tax income.B.Rise in tobacco sales.C.Reduction in health risks.D.Cooperation of companies.13.It benefits all competitors in the prisoner's dilemma if theyA.trust each other and follow.the regulationsB.act independently and pursue their own interestsC.increase their market share at the expense of othersD.ignore competifion and focus on their own strategies14.Why do most tobacco companies finally choose to advertise?A.To avoid intense competitton.B.To achieve public health goals.C.To gain a competitive advantage.D.To shape better business images.15.What can be a suitable title for the passage?A.A Failed Prison BreakB.A Ban with Good IntenttonC.A Policy to Boost Public HealthD.A Cigarette Ban Ends in Smoke高三第二次模拟考成英语试题第6页(共10页)第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分)阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。

Stop I"Getting no response I called again, but my shouts were carried away in the opposite direction by the wind.Seconds passed.Nothing.I was gradually being left alone, completely defenseless against the low temperatures of Antarctica. My strength increased when I thought of a cold, lonely death.I pulled again my sledge, which moved a little.I removed the ice with my ski-pole and boot, desperately trying to break the sledge free. The sledge shot forward, knocking me off balance.I struggled to my feet and set off after the team.I caught up just as Reena, my teammate from India, looked behind her and noticed there was one person missing. She swung around on her skis.in shock and spotted me in the near distance. As we continued, my panic slowly faded. For the rest of the day.each of the team was glancing over their shoulder every few minutes. They were not going to risk losing me again.56.From the first paragraph we can safely infer that the author .A disliked her teamB got seriously illC was in panicD lost her way57.What is special about the expedition team?A.They were all female.B- They were all professional.C.They made the longest expedition.D.They had been strictly trained.58.What made the author get her sledge out of the ice was .A the shouts from her teammates B.her strong desire to liveC.the sudden change in wind direction D.the natural beauty ahead59.At last, each of the team members kept looking back .A to avoid being attacked from behindB to make sure that none fell behindC to check the distance they had coveredD to keep a record of the route they took60.Which may be the best title of the passage?A.How to survive in Antarctic.B.A mysterious trip to the South Pole.C.A female expedition team.D.Being left behind in the snow.BYou're happy to let your best friend borrow your mountain bike, but would you be willing to loan it out to a total stranger if you could make some money off the arrangement? That's the idea behind peer-to-peer (P2P)renting, a new model conducted by sites such as eBay and Craigslist.Instead of selling an idle (闲置)thing, you loan it to people in your town, get paid a small rental fee and get it back when the borrower's done with it.In the past few years, almost a dozen websites have popped up piwmsing to connect lenders and borrowers. For instance, you can use GetAround to rent out your car or motorcycle, SnapGoods to rent out electronics and gadgets, ToolSpinner to rent electric drills and lawnmowers, Zaarly and Knb to rent out a little bit of everything else.Old as it may sound, P2P renting is more high-tech than before, with websites that avoid cash for credit cards.A user creates an online listing for the item she wants to rent out, choosing her own rental fee. When someone wants the item, he keeps it on an online calendar, and the two arrange a time and place for pickup. Each site operates a little differently, but all use technology to make renting easy, safe and relatively inexpensive. Why rent your stuff? You may not make a ton of money, but it is a good way to get some use, out of idle things. The people who rent those goods are able to save thousands of dollars by renting instead of buying new. There may be other benefits."It brings convenience, security and adventure," says All Hart, JustSharclt's spokesperson."But, more important, we're really connecting people and building community, too."Get to know your neighbors and make a few bucks in the process? Sounds like a good deal.61.The new model of peer-to-peer renting helps people ______.A.make better use of their idle things B.share ideas on the InternetC.keep up with high-tech trend D.earn tons of money in a special way 62.GetAround, SnapGoods, ToolSpinner, Zaarly and Krrb are all .A.the companies selling idle things B.the special people good at P2P rentingC.the websites for P2P renting D.the courses to teach people to do P2P renting 63.What does the third paragraph mainly talk about?A.How P2P renting works online.B.Why P2P renting should be encouraged.C.How credit cards are used in P2P renting.D.Where the lenders and borrowers meet.64.According to Ali Hart, the greatest benefit of P2P renting is .A.making a considerable sum of money B.saving money and protecting the environmentC.making the Internet convenient and safe D.keeping die people in the community connected 65.What might be the purpose of the passage?A.To teach people how to rent idle things.B.To encourage people to do P2P renting online.C.To explain why the Internet changes out life.D.To guide people to be fashion consumers.COn a recent trip to California, I stopped by Natural Bridges, where the monarch butterflies overwinter. Many years ago, I livedclose enough to it that I could walk there regularly and study theirgatherings-the most memorable experiences when living in California,This visit, however, turned out to be disappointing.Though theway to the protected monarch garden looked just as I remembered it, Ispotted only a few butterflies there. So I had to drive about a mile south to Lighthouse Field a more open area visited by large numbers of bikers, dog walkers and tourists. Many monarehs-at least several hundred - gathered in a small forest of pines there. Why had they moved to this less hospitable habitat-John Dayton, a biologist from San Jose provided an answer.During the 1990s, a deadly disease killed off most large pines sheltering the monarch habitats at Natural Bridges, forcing monarchs to seek shelter elsewhere.Still, since the mid-1990s, the number of overwintering monarchs in California has declined by nearly 90 percent.Butterfly populations at Santa Paula alone, for example, have dropped from about 120,000 to less than 1 ,000-the lowest figure intwo decades. In California, coastal development has reduced the area suitable for overwintering monarchs.Illegal logging, poorly regulated tourism and water withdrawals near the butterfly habitais are also endangering the butterflies.Throughout the butterflies' North American range, declines in milkweed plants-which monarchs need to reproduce-are also knocking down the insect's numbers.Chemicals are widely applied, wiping out the milkweed once growing in the agricultural land.Climate change may worsen the monarchs' situation. As atmospheric levels of CO2continue to rise, milkweeds are likely to produce fewer toxic compounds(有毒化合物)that protect both butterflies and caterpillars (幼虫)from their enemies.Milkweed leaves also may get tougher.Caterpillars will have a harder time chewing the leaves.66.Why did the author feel disappointed during his revisit to Natural Bridges?A.Because it had been overpopulated with Monarchs.B.Because the monarch's living habit was changed a lot.C.Because fewer monarch butterflies overwintered there.D.Because the people there were not so hospitable as before.67.Where did the author find those monarchs moved?A.Natural Bridges B.Lighthouse Field C.San Jose D.Santa Paula68.What caused a sharp decline of overwintering monarchs according to Para 3?A The loss of large pines.B A disease of monarchs.C Water pollutionD Too many caterpillars.69.According to the passage, the decline of the milkweeds is connected with .A coastal developmentB illegal loggingC poorly regulated tourismD the abuse of chemicals 70.Which diagram shows correctly how the passage is developed? (P= paragraph)DThe Toyota Prius hybrids adapted by Google's engineers have covered 300,000 miles on the roads of California without a human at the wheel, but with only one accident by a human-controlled car. It's clear that driverless cars are much safer than human-controlled ones.40,000 people are killed every year in road accidents in the US, many of which are caused by human error.Besides, driverless vehicles could make better use of the road and reduce the size of car parks, too. With technology, a machine can perform a complex task without human involvement This means our thought about what machines can and cannot do needs updating urgently. However, ignore the beautiful words and think about what Google has done. This isn't just about care.Economists are increasingly puzzled by the fact that the rate of job-creation is much lower than expected and the length of time for which people are unemployed has rocketed to 40 weeks twice as long as that during any previous postwar recovery.Economic theory says that when companies begin to grow or become profitable again, they buy equipment and hire workers. But that isn't happening.Companies are still buying equipment, but they're not employing workers. So where did the jobs go? Andrew McAfee explains his view in his new book Race Against the Machine." Advances in self-driving car by Google represent the next wave of job-eliminating technology. Many skills (such as driving)may eventually become worthless, at least in the job market."And as for those thinking that driverless cars might appeal to most motorists, there is the uncomfortable fact that the car has peaked. We are driving less year on year.Traffic jams reduce the romance from driving. And young people no longer have the desire to own cars like they used to.71.According to the first paragraph, driverless vehicles are ______.A.faster B.lighter C.smaller D.safer72.The underlined word "updating" in the second paragraph means " ".A.abandoning B.renewing C.starting D.returning73.The third paragraph suggests that ______.A technology doesn't ease the pressure on employmentB companies gain profit by employing more workersC it takes people less time to find a job than beforeD people will see another economic recovery in future 74.What will be the influence of driverless cars according to Andrew McAfee?A The economic recovery is to be sped up.B Many companies may make higher profits.C Traditional skills will be improved.D More people may lose their jobs.75.The last paragraph tells us that the car industry ______.A will be given up by young peopleB is lo blame for traffic jamsC is reaching the highest pointD will expand in all directions第Ⅱ卷(共45分)第Ⅱ卷共2页,用0.5毫米黑色签字笔答在答题卡上。

Fastened to the end of the rope is a metal cage and inside are oysters(牡蛎).Taking turns, the students measure all the oysters, and then compare notes. The biggest oyster is over 2 inches long, much bigger than a healthy size for its age! They also measure the level of oxygen. As more oysters grow, the water should become clearer and hold more oxygen. Also, other animals should move in.Oysters are soft-bodied animals, and share the underwater community with plants, fish, and other life. They are food for crabs and other animals. As new oysters grow, they attach their shells to older ones, forming big reefs with many small spaces where other animals live.Oysters eat algae(藻类).If algae grow too fast, they can decrease oxygen from the water-and even fish need oxygen to breathe! But what happened to the oysters 100years ago in New York Harbor? Before then, lots of oysters lived in these waters. They were shipped to restaurants around the world. By the early 1900s, people were eating them faster than they could grow. Pollution was pouring into the waters. The harbor became seriously polluted. Since the 1970s, new laws have helped reduce poisonous waste. Some fish started to swim through again. But oysters were still missing-until recently. The Billion Oyster Project began in 2014 to help bring oysters back to New York Harbor. The project has recruited(招募)more than 6,500 students at more than 100 middle schools and high schools to help grow, distribute, and study the oysters. Finally, the students put the oysters back in the cage. Mr. Rodman lowers the cage into the river. In a few months, they will check the cage again. When the oysters are big enough, they will be moved to join a heaIthy reef in the middle of the harbor.4.Why do students come to the pier over the Harlem River?A.To do research.C.To buy oysters. B.To go fishing.D.To clean up the river.5.What is the second paragraph mainly about?A.What oysters are like.B.How oysters get fed.C.Why algae grow fast.D.What role oysters play.6.What can we learn about oysters in New York Harbor?A.People's love of eating oysters boosted their numbers.B.More oysters than before lived in waters in the 1900s.C.Polluted water was partly to blame for the missing of oysters.D.New laws in the 1970s were crucial to oysters' recovery.7.Which of the following can be the best title for the text?A. Oysters Raised in New York HarborB.The Harlem River Polluted HeavilyC.Nature's Helpful Crew Brought BackD.Teacher Devoted to Wildlife ProtectionCIntroduced species have a bad reputation. It has been believed that the species mix in a particular place should remain as unchanged as possible. But this is just an opinion. Other opinions are possible. A study published recently by Dov Sax of Brown University, thus asks how the benefits of introduced species might be better assessed, so that opinions can be more informed. Specifically, he identifies several aspects for that.Initially, whether introduced species provide direct human advantage is taken into account. Dr. Sax and his colleagues ignored crops, since their benefits are obvious. But they included transplanted grass species that have gone wild, yet provide grazing(牧草)for domestic animals, and introduced forest trees that produce wood for construction.Another factor is their possible benefit to the ecosystem into which the introduction has happened. Such introduction is sometimes made to reduce the risk of a localised species becoming extinct. Pyne‘’s ground plum (李子),native to a handful of sites in the central basins of Tennessee but now transplanted to others, falls into this category. The last value is experienced on an emotional rather than a practical level. Lots of people feel good about native wildlife, which is generally the main motive for its conservation. But that feel-good factor can extend to introduced species as well. Such value can cut both ways, however. For example, ring-necked parakeets, an Asian and African species, have been spreading through Britain for several decades. Some find them a colourful addition to the local wildlife, others a noisy competitor for native birds. In light of their analysis, Dr. Sax and his team therefore suggest that researchers studying introduced species should in future create a clear distinction in their studies between changes that have happened and judgments about the value of those changes. In addition, when making those judgments, they should acknowledge all types of values, rather than focusing narrowly on one or two of them. That done, many species will surely still be accused of possible damage. But others, badly thought of in the past, may not.8.What is Dr.Sax's study aimed to do?A.Kecp track of introduced species.B.Get introduced species fully understood.pare opinions on introduced species.D.Identify consequences of introducing species.9.Why was Pyne's ground plum transplanted to other places?A.To provide graze for local animals.B.To produce wood for construction.C.To build a new local ecosystem.D.To save local species from dying out.10.How do local people react to the introduction of ring-necked parakeets?A.They don't care about it.B.They consider it acceptable.C.They can't put up with it.D.They hold divided opinions on it.11.What does Dr. Sax suggest to the future researchers?A.Focusing on main values.B.Evaluating evident changes.C.Analyzing previous researches.D.Presenting all-round assessments.DSeveral research groups have previously generated images from brain signals using AI models that require numerous data analysis. Now, Shinji Nishimoto and Yu Takagi at Osaka University in Japan have developed a much simpler approach by slightly adjusting Stable Diffusion,a popular text-to-image generator, allowing it to turn brain signals directly into pictures.Shinji Nishimoto and Yu Takagi built two additional models to help make Stable Diffusion work with brain signals. The pair used data from four people obtained by using functional magnetic resonance imaging(fMRI)(功能磁共振成像技术)to scan their brains while the four were viewing 10,000 pictures.Using around 90 percent of the brain-imaging data, the pair then trained one model to make links between fMRI data from a brain region that processes visual signals and the images that people were viewing. They used the same dataset to train the other model to form links between text descriptions of the images and fMRI data from a brain region that processes the meaning of images. After training, these two models could translate brain-imaging data into forms that were directly fed into the Stable Diffusion model. It could then reconstruct around 1000 of the images people viewedwith about 80% accuracy. This level of accuracy is similar to that previously achieved in a study that analysed the same data using a much more tedious approach, which involved more time and efforts. However, the study only tested the approach on four people. “This approach requires huge fMRI machines”, says Sikun Lin at the University of California.“In future, more practical versions of the approach could allow people to make art or change images with their imagination, or add new elements to gameplay, but it is still a long way from daily use,” she says.12.What do we know about Stable Diffusion?A.It calls for more data analysis.B.It was created to read brain signals.C.It was launched by Japanese scientists.D.It helps change brain signals into pictures.13.What are the two models intended to do after training?A.To process data.B.To redraw images.C.To scan human brains.D.To match text descriptions.14.What does the underlined word “tedious” mean in paragraph 3?A.Simple.C.Effective. plicated.D.Convenient.15.What does Sikun Lin say about this approach?A.It is practical for daily use.B.It has been widely used in art.C. It will enrich people's imagination.D.It will be applied in a broad range.第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分)阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。
