Teaching procedure:

Part1

上课时，教师拿出一个塑料杯问学生：“What’s this? Yes, what’s it made of? Right. It’s made of plastic.”接着，教师拿出一支铅笔问：“What’s this? Yes, It’s a pencil. What’s it made of? Yes , it’s made of wood.”教师再拿出一把折叠刀问大家：“What’s this? Yes, it’s a knife. What’s it made of? It’s made of plastic.”说刀这里，教师对学生说：“Now you can take one thing and come to me and ask me, ‘What’s it made of?’ Do you understand? You can ask me, ‘What’s it made of?’”教师鼓励学生拿着一件东西到前面来问老师，然后教师回答：“It’s made of…”这样做是让学生学会使用问句。待五六个同学问完之后，教师拿着一些物品对学生说：“Now please look carefully. I will tell you what they are made of.”教师拿着不同材质的东西依次陈述，同时把这些材质的单词卡片在黑板上。教师贴的时候要注意稍微分开一些。教师带着学生把每个单词都熟悉一遍，然后指着wood这个单词对学生说：“Look here, if you have things which are made of wood, please bring the things with you and come here and show them under the wood ‘wood’.”教师让所有拿着木制东西的同学到前面，并将这些东西举着站在wood这个单词的附近。教师稍稍评论一下，接着指着metal说：“Look here, if you have things made of metal, bring them here quickly and show them to us.”教师让那些拿着用金属材质做东西的同学到前面，展览其东西，并站在metal这个词的旁边。教师用同样的方法将其他的词都依次问到，学生也可以尽可能地到前面展示自己所带的各种材质的东西。这些练习基本完成后，教师让学生看本单元的图，并对大家说：“Now please check the things on this page, and tell me what these things are made of.”教师让学生指出各种各样的东西并说出他们的材质。

最后，教师让学生两人一组进行对话练习，并在练习的基础上更换练习者。这样可以反复练习同样的内容，以达到熟练的程度。

Part2

第二部分是学生根据物品的质地分别在它们的材质上打勾。学生经过了大量的句子和对话练习后不会觉得这个练习太难，但教师仍然应该要求学生认真从头做到尾。

Part3

第三部分是绕口令。教师先带着学生慢慢地说，然后逐渐加快速度。刚开始的时候教师不宜过快，要以准确、标准、好听为原则。然后，教师让学生以小组为单位，每个人都念一

下，最后推荐出自己组最好的一个到班级里比赛。参赛学生的成绩代表本小组的成绩。Part4

第四部分是阅读理解的练习。文章是有关回收旧物品的做法。教师可以先让学生自学，划出不懂的地方，然后以提问的方式问老师，老师给予适当的解释或回答。希望通过学习这段文章能唤起学生环保的意识。

Part5

第五部分是检查各种东西的质地。教师可以这样说：“Now you can see all these things. But once they are bad or they are broken, we have to throw them away. But now we can’t throw things away, because they can be recycled. Now look at the things on this page.”教师指着该书的页码说：“Turn to this page and look at the things. Try to draw a line between the things and the recycled box.”学生做完后，教师进行核对，保证大家基本能知道某种物品该去哪个地方。

Part6

第六部分是一段很有意思的小诗。这里的china意思是“瓷器”。教师需让学生反复练习朗读这些句子，直到每个人都比较熟练为止。

Part7

第七部分是看图讲故事。教师可以先让学生自己任意编一个故事，先两人一组说，然后再在小组里说，最后在全班的范围里说。这部分活动的目的是给学生一个大量练习的机会。故事的大致情节是：

1)One day a man and a turtle both saw a bottle of juice on the ground
