Surface treatment Y 100 covers different surface treatment classes. The class of the treated component is established on the basis of relevant requirements concerning environment and finish. Ytbehandling Y 100 upptar olika ytbehandlings-klasser. Klassen f?r den behandlade komponenten fastst?lls beroende p? aktuella milj?- och finishkrav.

This standard covers coatings free from hexavalent chromium for corrosion protection of threaded iron and steel parts with friction requirements. Denna standard omfattar bel?ggningar fria fr?n sexv?rt krom f?r korrosionsskydd av g?ngade j?rn- och st?lartiklar med friktionskrav.

2 Application 2 Till?mpning

For components where there is risk for galvanic corrosion of adjacent component, surface treatment must be chosen with special consideration and expertise with in the area of corrosion and surface treatment shall be consulted. An example might be when assembling a steel component to an aluminium component. 3 Definitions 3 Definitioner

For this standard, the following definitions apply: F?r denna standard g?ller f?ljande definitioner.

Significant surface: the part of the object which is covered or shall be covered with the surface coating, and for which the surface coating is necessary with respect to usability and/or appearance. Used when the requirement for corrosion protection is less pronounced. - Y 100-1 Ringa korrosivitet

An example of this environment is inside a compartment. It is also used on fasteners that are mounted on untreated bodies and coated at a later stage, in e.g. EC bath (EC, electro coat). 5.1 General requirements

5.2 Appearance 5.2 Utseende

The significant surface of the surface coated part shall be free from clearly visible surface treatment defects such as blisters, pitting, rough surfaces, cracks or uncoated areas. The coating shall have good adhesion and must not display blisters or show any tendency to peel or flake when subjected to burnishing tests in accordance with STD 5712,104. Since prevailing torque feature or micro-encapsulated locking fluid might be used, consideration to this must be taken when choosing surface treatment and/or prevailing torque

feature/locking fluid. This is to prevent shear fracture in the surface treatment and to prevent screw rupture when dismounting. Eftersom friktionsgivande element eller mikrokapslad l?sv?tska kan komma att

5.4 High-strength steel 5.4 H?gh?llfast st?l

If electrolytical treatment is applied, heat treatment in accordance with STD 5700,21 shall be carried out for the purpose of stress relief before surface treatment and for the purpose of hydrogen embrittlement relief after surface treatment on steels with a tensile strength exceeding

1040 N/mm2 (corresponding hardnesses approx. 320 HV). Om elektrolytisk behandling till?mpas ska

5.5 Environmental requirements 5.5 Milj?krav

Substances included in surface treatment as per this standard shall be reported with regard to composition and weight in accordance with VCS 5036,5. Ing?ende ?mnen i ytbehandling enligt denna standard ska rapporteras med avseende p? sammans?ttning och vikt enligt VCS 5036,5.

Electrolytic Zn/Ni coatings shall be applied using an alkaline Zn/Ni process, and the Ni content of the coating shall be 12-15 % Ni. Elektrolytiska Zn/Ni-bel?ggningar ska appliceras med en alkalisk Zn/Ni-process och nickelhalten ska vara 12-15 % nickel.

5.6 Mechanical requirements 5.6 Mekaniska krav

Unless otherwise stated, all mechanical requirements for surface treatment shall be tested on fasteners with metric threads. Samtliga mekaniska krav f?r ytbehandling ska provas p? f?stelement med metriska g?ngor om inget annat anges.

5.6.1 Coated threads 5.6.1 Ytbelagda g?ngor

The coating thickness in the threads must not prevent normal entering. This shall be checked before the surface treatment by gauging the fasteners with a NOT GO screw ring and a GO screw ring for external threads and with a NOT GO screw plug gauge and GO screw plug gauge for internal threads. For threads to be surface treated, the tolerance value normally applied shall be used (for example 6e for screws and 6G6H for nuts, see VCS 5081,159). Surface coated threads shall be gauged using a GO screw ring gauge with

tolerance position h (external threads) and with a GO screw plug gauge in position H (internal threads). (See STD 5081,1801).

Torque requirements for fasteners with prevailing torque feature concerning maximum downrunning torque and minimum disassembly torque are specified in VCS 7121,1619.
