Unit 4 Don’t eat in class.( Reading)

1,Teaching aims:

Read the letters (2b) and master the main idea of the letters.

Know about the rules of Molly’s family and the advice of Dr Know.

2,Ability aims:

Be able to master some abilities of reading.

3,Emotion aims:

Nothing can be accomplished without norms and standards.

Teaching importance:

1) 通过进行阅读练习来进一步学习运用本课时的新语言知识。

2) 掌握阅读技巧

Teaching difficulties:

1)阅读训练。

2)理解must, have to/ can/can't的用法

Procedures:

Step1. Warming up.

Let’s chant.

It’s time for class for class for class

Don’t talk No talking Be quiet.

Step2: Leading:

See a video about family rules.

Free talk.

Talk about the video,and ask the students “what rules do you have in your family?”( have a competition)

Step 3. Presentation:

Reading

1.Fast reading (2minutes)

1) Read the letter again and underline the rules for Molly.

2) Ss read the letter and try to find the rules for Molly and underline them.

3) Check the answers with the class.

What does Molly feel about the rules?

2. Careful reading (5 minutes)

T: There are many rules in Molly's home and school. She feels unhappy. Read the letter and find the answer to this question:

Ss read the letter and find the answer to this question.

1. What does Molly think of her family rules?

2.Why Molly can't play basketball after school?

3. When does she have to go to bed?

4. What can Molly do after reading a book?

5.Does Dr.Know know how Molly feel?

6.When does Dr.Know say Molly can watch TV?

(Have a competition with “lucky eggs”,Let some Ss read their answers aloud. )

3. Careful reading.

1. Read the letter again and complete the sentences with have to/ must, can or can't. Step4: Role play.

According to the passage ,make conversations with your partners.Then show them in the class.

Step5. Summary

There are too many rules around us family rules school rules... We have to follow them because it is a saying:Nothing can be accomplished without norms and standards.

Homework:

What rules do you have in your family? Please write an article about them.
