第三部分阅读理解(共15小题;每小题2分,满分30分)

请认真阅读下列短文,从短文后各题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中,选出最佳选项,并在答题卡上将该项涂黑。

(A)

I believe that my country, Poland, is a perfect example for a

place where food is particularly important. When we were little

children, we began to understand how much a loaf of bread meant

to our parents—to some it might sound silly but for me the

custom of kissing bread before you started cutting it was simply amazing. It's not so common nowadays to treat food that way,

since you hardly ever bake your own bread. Besides, everyone

would call you crazy if you tried to kiss every bread roll before you ate them! But though we no longer make our food from scratch (起点), some customs have been kept--that's why I feel so sorry

every time I have to throw any food away—even though I no longer live with my parents and nobody would blame me for this anymore!

Many people of our nation are still working as farmers, eating

what they grow and harvest and therefore enjoying everything more.

It's widely known that you value more anything that needs your

effort in the first place. In most homes in Poland, especially

those of farmers, the whole family would try and have their meals together--extremely difficult now, but so rewarding ! You can

share other members' troubles and successes, give your children

some attention, or just sit down for a moment instead of rushing through life aimlessly. Furthermore, your body, and stomach in

particular will be very grateful for such a time!

In Poland, a wedding, Christmas or even a birthday is celebrated with a great meal. Women in the house get together and cook,

考单招——上高职单招网

sometimes for a few days before the event, and the extremely good or unusual food will be remembered and widely talked about.

You cannot over-value the importance of food in the country. What's more, almost everyone in Poland will be as interested in the topic as I am.

56. When the writer was a child, he / she ________.

A. found people were crazy about bread

B. began to realize the importance of food

C. thought that cutting bread was amazing

D. learned people hardly baked their own bread

57. The writer feels very sorry when he/she has to throw away any food because _________.

A. he/she makes food from scratch

B. his/her parents would blame him/her

C. some customs still have effect on him/her

D. many people are still working hard as farmers

58. From the text, we can learn that, in Poland, ________.

A. most meals can be interesting topics for a long time

B. the whole family often have meals together nowadays

C. it's common for women to get together to cook for a few days

D. family members can know more about each other by having meals together

(B)

考单招——上高职单招网

We can make mistakes at any age. Some mistakes we make are about money. But mostmistakes are about people. "Did Jerry really care when I broke up with Helen?""When Igot that great job, did Jim really feel good about it, as a friend? Or did he envy my luck? "And Paul, why didn't pick up that he was friendly just because I had a car?"When we lookback, doubts like these can make us feel bad. But when we look back,it's too late.

Why do we go wrong about our friends—or our enemies? Sometimes what people sayhides their real meaning. And if we don't really listen we miss the feeling behind thewords. Suppose someone tells you, "You're a lucky dog, "and that's being friendly. But"lucky dog"? There's a bit of envy in those words. Maybe he doesn't see it himself. Butbringing in the "dog" bit puts you down a little, what he may be saying is that he doesn'tthink you deserve your luck.

"Just think of all the things you have to be thankful for"is another noise that says onething and means another. It could mean that the speaker is trying to get you to see yourproblem as part of your life as a whole. But is he? Wrapped up in this phrase is thethought that your problem isn't important. It's telling you to think of all the starvingpeople in the world when you haven't got a date for Saturday night.

How can you tell the real meaning behind someone' s words? One way is to take agood look at the person talking. Do his words fit the way he looks? Does what he saysagree with the tone of voice? His posture? The look in his eyes? Stop and think. Theminute you spend thinking about the real meaning of what people say to you may saveanother mistake.

59. This passage is mainly about ______.

A. how to interpret what people say

考单招——上高职单招网

B. what to do when you listen to others talking

C. why we go wrong with people and how to avoid these mistakes

D. why we go wrong with people sometimes

60. According to the author, the reason why we go wrong about our friends is that .

A. we fail to listen carefully when they talk

B. we tend to doubt what our friends say

C. people tend to be annoyed when we check what they say

D. people usually state one thing but mean another.

61. The underlined word "it" in the second paragraph refers

to______.

A. being friendly

B. a bit of envy

C. lucky dog

D. your luck

62. When we listen to a person talking, the most important thing

for us to do is __.

A. notice the way the person is talking

B. take a good look at the person talking

C. mind his tone, his posture and the look in his eyes

D. examine the realmeaning of what he says based on his manner,

his tone and his posture

63. The author is most probably a ______.

A. teacher

“Image is everything.” An entire industry has been built upon

the precondition that image is everything, but when it comes down

考单招——上高职单招网

to it, an appealing image is not enough. If there is no substance behind the image, the product, service or person will fail at length.

First of all, one should consider how important image is in the selling of products and services. Advertising agencies have

raised the art of creating an image to a state of near perfection. Public concept of that product or service is certainly managed by the images created by the advertising agencies. But if the

product or service does not live up to the image that was created, the customer will be very dissatisfied and possibly ask for their

2

money back. For example , the Arthur Andersen accounting firm

had spent decades building up an image of trustworthiness. But

the recent scandal (丑闻) showed that behind that image, it had dishonest business practices. Despite theprevious positive image, the firm is being accused of criminal actions and it will

probably not surviveas a business unit. Although the image had been nearly perfect, the reality behind the image has ledto the downfall of the world famous accounting firm.

Similarly, personal consultants can build up a public image for politicians and movie stars.Putting out positive news releases, making sure that only the best photographs are published, andensuring that the person is seen in all the right places can build up a very positive image in the viewof the general commons. But once again, history is filled with examples of both

politicians and moviestars that fell from grace (体面) like the story of the Hollywood actor giving in to the pressures offame

and fortune. With people, just as with products and services, image is certainly important, butwithout positive substance

behind the image, failure is close.

To summarize, it is clear that an appealing image is extremely important to success, whetherthat image is related to selling a product or service or to the " selling" of a person. But image is

考单招——上高职单招网

only half of the equation. What lies behind that image is every bit as important as the image itself—the person or product must deliver on that image or there is little chance for long-term success.

64.Why did some famous people fall from grace?

A.Their images were not well built up. B.They failed to live up to their images.

C.They felt much pressure from the public.D.They paid little attention to fame and fortune.

65. The structure of the passage is .

A: Argument P: Point C: Conclusion

66.The author tries to argue that______.

A.image creates everything B.image is the key to success

C.truth goes hand in hand with image D.truth and image are equally important

(D)

Alone in the wilderness. Nothing but jungle. A world of shadow with the rays of light fallinglike blonde hair from the crowns of the giant trees. Jungle in the midday sun. Everything motionless. Not a sound from sky or earth. Complete silence. Only some coconuts falling, at longintervals, very far away. The world reduced to the soft touch of cool grass along my naked back, anda sweet smell of rich soil and vegetation. Stretched out with closed eyes beside my heavy burden offruit and firewood, I enjoyed the feeling of fresh blood streaming through every part of my body andfresh jungle air filling every corner of my lungs.

考单招——上高职单招网

Resting motionless, I could see the sun through my closed eyelids, alone in the sky, as lonelyas I, and as motionless and silent as everything else. The earth had surely stopped turning and somewhere on this planet there was supposed to be roaring

traffic in busy streets. What a crazy, unbelievable thought!

Another coconut fell, to make the world come to a complete standstill. I had to roll over onto my stomach to feel that at least I could move and make noises. Then I found company. A

little brown ant was struggling to find its way with a bit of dry straw through the jungle of leaves and grass below my nose. I wondered if I could give the little fellow a lift with its burden, but it showed not the slightest sign of tiredness and struggled

on with all six legs, head first or head last, waving its feelers energetically as if the trip had just started. Who ever saw a

tired ant? Tiredness, unpleasant tiredness, is restricted to hunted animals, slaves and modern man . It is as great an effort for an office clerk to walk five blocks with a loaded brief-case

as it is for a jungle-dweller (居民) to cross a valley with a

goat on his back. It is as hard to get up and climb or run when you have been seated for years as it is to get up and walk when you have been in bed for months. The body is strange. Spare it, and you get really tired for almost nothing; use it, and almost nothing makes you really tired.

I rose to my feet. I had heard a horse neighing(嗨呵地用力) down in the valley. Above me, on the open highland plains, there were wild horses. But down in the valley there was never a horse unless there was a man on it. Somebody was making his way up the valley and my wife was alone.

67.The author mentions coconuts’ falling to .

A.show his loneliness B.add beauty to the jungle

C.express his love of nature D.stress the absolute silence

考单招——上高职单招网

68.How does the author feel about the ant?

A.He admired its attitude toward work. B.He was amazed at its tireless efforts.

C.He showed sympathy for the little ant. D.He was content to have it as a companion.

69.It can be inferred from the last paragraph that the author

would probably .

A.work harder than before B.talk to the man on the horse

C.make his way home D.stay in the valley

70.We can learn from the passage that the author .

A.enjoyed being alone B.had an unforgettable adventure

C.missed his busy life in the city D.experienced a world of quietness

第二卷(两部分,共35分)

第四部分任务型阅读(共10小题;每小题1分,满分10分)

请认真阅读下列短文,并根据所读内容在文章后表格中的空格里填入最恰当的单词。注意:每空格1个单词。

I used to be the messiest person alive. Over the years, through watching others and by trial and error, I have finally found ways to come up with plans, organize them and follow through with them.

Make an outline of everything you need to have and do to make your plan happen. Make a list of all of the steps that need to be accomplished and think about what needs to be done.

Detail everything thoroughly and read over it so you can start coming up with some mental solutions of how to carry out your plans.

考单招——上高职单招网

You should ensure that if for some reason way one doesn’t work, you have way two and way three to lean back on. Therefore, different ways are needed at hand. It’s just a matter of being o rganized. Chances are that there is always more than one way of doing things, and chances are that if one of those ways doesn’t work, one of the other ones will.

Committing yourself to finishing at least part if not all of your plan at once is also necessary. It will show that you not only have initiative to get things rolling, but that you are interested in the results obtained with making the move to get everything done.

If you make a commitment to finish before a specific time, make sure that you carry that out, and be sure to do everything in the way you said you would, within the time-frame you set for yourself.

Don’t try to tackle more things all at a time. All that does is delay your progress, distract you and make you lose your interest, motivation and energy.

Carrying out an effective plan requires being as organized as possible. You will only achieve this by sticking to the order of the plan and not deviating or trying to do more at a time.

Last but not the least, you should never abandon things mid-project. It will only annoy everyone around you including yourself. Unfinished plans are a waste of time, energy and, in some cases, even money.

So, don’t be afraid of organization. The older we get, the more necessary it becomes to have the skills necessary to follow through with confidence and to be able to carry through plans in an organized and manageable way. It pays to be organized, after all.

How to build an economized society

考单招——上高职单招网

Our government is aiming to build an economized society. It is everybody’s duty work hard to achieve this goal including us students.

Recently, the statistics in the report of one certain school in two school terms suggest that the expenses of electricity, water and paper are surprisingly large and growing rapidly, which draws our attention.

As a common member of society, we must keep the following points in our minds.First, make sure that the lights and all the other electric facilities are turned off when we finish our work and leave the room.Secondly, try to form the habit of turning off the tap after it is used and the waste water can be reused for more purposes before being thrown into sewers.Thirdly, save paper as much as possible in our everyday life.It is even better to reuse it.

In a word, if we pay much attention to our everyday behavior and take actions to reduce waste, we can make contributions to an economized society.
