Jane: Let's drop the subject. I hate kungfu, it's merely brutal violence.

I believe yoga is a far better way to develop oneself physically

and mentally.

Raymond: How could you say that, Jane? Y ou know nothing about kungfu.

It's one of the most precious parts of Chinese culture.

Jane: I'm sorry, Raymond. I didn't mean to hurt you, but you can't

make a living teaching kungfu.

Raymond: I don't teach kungfu to make a living. I teach kungfu to promote

Chinese culture.

Jane: Maybe you're right. We should never deny the values of our

traditional culture.

【英语牛人教你如何一次性听懂英语影视节目】 每天听英语忽然听懂了 首先声明一下,我这里叙述是我的真实经验,总结出的理论也有我个人的偏见,无意引起过多的流派之间的争端;每一个人的学习方法更多是他个人的性格、环境和际遇造就的。一次性地听懂英语影视节目一直是国人学英语的最大难点之一,那么如果我们每天坐在电视机前面象看母语一样看下去,到底能不能最终一次性听懂?这里跟大家分享一下我在这方面的探索和经验。一次偶然的机会之下,我开始了每天晚上看香港的英文电视,和看中文电视一样坐在电视机前,各种各样的原版电视剧、电影、真人秀、脱口秀、舞台选秀、新闻科普、社会节目等等就一直当娱乐看下去,不用耳机,一次性听下去。开始的时候几乎什么都听不懂,速度都跟不上,也根本没想过什么时候会听懂;就这样慢慢听下去发现很多发声和音调越来越熟悉,越来越“入耳”,有的词句莫名其妙的也听懂了,后来渐渐地总结出了一些方法,思维开始超越声音融入画面,最后大部分节目都能听懂了,常用的句子心不在焉也能听懂;去外国出差酒店里的英语电影也好,去电影院看大片也好,绝大多数都能轻松欣赏,当然总有个别字不懂,但能感觉到大概的意思,对整体剧情的欣赏影响不大。先说一下我得出的观点,再回头说我的经历是如何得出这样观点的:一次性听懂不能认真地听声音(要泛听),思维必须超越声音融入剧情,这是一种特别的超然的状态,和脱口而出的口语有点类似;还有就是听力的瓶颈有很大一定程度是个人的口语能力和音调(intonation)。先说一下看英语电视之前的状况,我学英语是从大量泛读原版报刊开始的,尽量不查字典以避免先入为主,从上下文磨练出来语感,这是我一贯的学习的motto。看多了就自然语感很强,单词量也很大;在口语上我得益于高二买的扶忠汉的《双向式英语》,其它就是敢说,和什么人都能用英语聊,一般的口语也比较熟悉,所以尽管我很少练过听力,但听力还可以,无论是和外国客户交谈,还是出国旅游听力都没太大问题;但是一说到英语电影,就完全不行了,简直是灾难,完全跟不上速

各类英语学习法及其分析 由于缺乏语言环境的支持,传统教学方法的效果被大打折扣。大多数人在学完十余年英语课程后仍然不能自由地运用这门语言。由于这个原因,催生了若干广为流传的学习方法和教程。其中,比较流行的当属双向式英语、AAA英语、疯狂英语、逆向式英语等。 双向式英语 在20世纪80年代较为流行。它针对华人使用的英语教材较少、内容较为陈旧和不实用等特点,以日常用语、商业用语作为教材的主要内容。同时,也有配套的语音磁带。在那时的国内,这样的教材还是较少的。如今,类似的教材已经很多了。 AAA英语 初现于1992年,它有几个重要的概念,即"正向迁移","Assurance(安全感)","Achievement (成就感)",以及"Acceleration(加速度)"。所谓正向迁移,就是指一个人,尤其是成人,在学习或接受一个新东西时,总要用自己已有的观念和知识来分析、评价这个东西,或者说用"先入结构"作基础,来消化吸收"后入"的成分。这样,就可能造成语言上的错误和文化上的误解。但是,只要学习者有意识地将两种语言、两种文化进行对比、对照时,能够自觉地揭示隐伏在语言背后的、引起误会和冲突的文化因素,能够自觉地改变和调整自己固有的框框,并且利用母语作为支援力量,以此作为一种优势,不仅不排斥它,而且大胆地利用它,就能造成"正向迁移"。Assurance(安全感)是指,教材在内容上、单词量上、编排上都比较接近学习者的心理(AAA英语主要针对成年华人),使他们一接触到教材就有一种安全感。Achievement(成就感)是指,该教材是按场景来编排的,每学一个单元,熟悉一个场景,对这个场景所有的对话、内容都了如指掌,而且学了就能用,就能产生一种成就感。有了这两个感觉,加上教材通俗易懂,语法讲解详细,利用母语作为支援,这样便容易达到速成的效果,即Acceleration(加速度)。Assurance,Achievement和Acceleration都是以A开头,所以教材叫"AAA英语"。 关于AAA英语,给我印象最深的,是各种杂志邮购该教材的广告。想必它十分适合于邮购吧。关于"正向迁移"的说法,我觉得很难评价。从理论上讲头头是道,但实际操作起来却难以找到那种感觉,怎么看都觉得它只不过是一种英汉对照得比较周到的教材。至于Assurance(安全感),是因人而异的。Achievement(成就感)需要学习者对学习内容的完全掌握,并且能够及时运用。对于那些有语言环境的海外华人而言,它应该是较为实用的。Acceleration(加速度)的本来含义(通俗易懂,语法讲解详细...)是很多教材都强调的观念,此处就不多说。疯狂英语 在20世纪90年代中期开始流行。在阐述了"一个典型的中国人学习英语的故事"以及"英语学习者的痛苦心声"之后,它提出了自己的解决方案。它的学习理念是,首先要有疯狂的学习精神和若干导致"疯狂"的技巧,其次是以句子为中心的学习方法(如"三最口腔训练","一口气训练")。提倡疯狂的学习精神是值得称道的,其实质就是学习者必须进入某种状态,即自我营造一个学习的环境。至于以句子为中心,其用意有两个。一方面是将语言的形式和某些典型句子的内容绑定(见图2),而不是直接对语言形式进行记忆。这样,在记忆语言的形式时,就有了固定的参照内容,从而易于记住语言的形式。另一方面,这些句子表达了某些典型的场景或思想,记住它就记住了语言的内容。 疯狂英语受到了很多人的欢迎。它激发了中国人学习英语的热情,指出了许多学习者的误区。但是,它提出的解决方案,依然存在某些局限。其一是,尽管很多人都承认"疯狂"的重要性,但由于性格、环境等诸多问题的限制,要长久地保持"疯狂"的状态是十分困难的。这一要求
