OK, let's get started. Good afternoon, everyone. Thanks for coming. Today I'm going to be talking to you about facing your fear. So by way of introduction,let me just indicate the structure of the talk. Firstly, I am going to tell you everyone there is a fear. Maybe everyone^s fear is defferent .Secodly,I will tell you some concrete examples of success in overcoming their fears. last but not least,I'll go on to discuss how to overcome fear according to my experience.
A psychologist once said, ”If you’ve conquered every one of your fears, congratulations—you’re dead.” This humorous quote points to a simple truth: No one can escape fear completely.So everyone will have fear.Fear can not be beat, the key is to overcome it.Maybe everyone^s fear is defferent. Some people are afraid of failure; Some people fear dark; Some people are scared of deep sea;Some people fear cockroach.I think, sometimes fear can be a good thing. It is a natural, healthy reaction to danger. But sometimes we are afraid of things that aren’t dangerous. You might fear of being alone, failing a test, or being rejected. And I, afraid of speaking in public.
I will tell you two concrete examples of success in overcoming their fears. Everyone is familiar with DongQing who is a famous CCTV host. She is very good at hosting.However ,she was informed to start a new program named The Reader as a producer.She was in a panic Because she
had not been in touch with the production related work before.She was afraid of not doing well and affecting her reputation.Her predecessor NiPing encouraged her: There is only one thing that makes a dream impossible to achieve: the fear of failure.DongQing felt deal when she herard the passage.She is actively preparing for work.As a result, her show is at the top of the audience.
The other story is the famous director LiAn. He won countless awards for his fantasy drifting.Most of the scene of the play needs to be done on the water.However no one knew LiAn was scared of water because he was almost drowing when he 6 years old.But for the play , he had to play on the water everyday. Areporter interviewed him how to overcome the fear water.LiAn said: The goal is to conquer the fear, not to avoid it or pretend it does not exist.The reason why fear is so powerful is because you believe it to be stronger than you. So I told myself I could overcom the fear, I am stronger than fear.
The above two examples tell us that fear is not invincible.So how can we successfully face our fears? I'll try the following methods.
(1)Admit my fears:
I don't want to always be the annoyance, So I must first admit that what I w as afra id of, And then share it with the people I trust.I think it can make me no longer fear. You might worry that others know your fears will despise you. But you might be surprised how many other people
share the same fears. What do you do?
(2)Change the angle of view:
When I feel scared ，i will Ask yourself, “What is the worst-case scenario?”This question can help me gain perspective.If I want, the worst may not be so bad. Such as when I spoke, I would say to myself, in the worst case is to forget the words didn't say.When it came to power, will feel nervous, but will continue to encourage myself,because it is not the worst.
(3)Take baby steps:
Finally, take small steps toward conquering your fears. For exmple,I fear public speaking, don’t try to give a presentation in front of hundreds of people. Start by giving a small talk to a few people. When I talk is not smooth, try again. Persistence is one of the keys to success.
You might never completely conquer your fear of certain things. But what is important is that you can bring yourself to do what you fear. True bravery is feeling scared but doing what you have to do anyway.
