Well,I would like to talk about a handmade scrapbook which I gave as a parting gift for my best friend who had to move to another country.I’ve known her since primary school and we have been best friends for over ten years so before she leaves,I wanted to give her something special.I decided to give her a scrapbook since I think it’s the best way to keep all the treasured mementos,photos,tokens and stories that defined our friendship and to remind her of the times we spent together.Apart from that,I really love doing arts and crafts projects so this was also the perfect opportunity for me to ignite my creativity.
To be honest,making a scrapbook takes a lot of time and effort.Fortunately,the crafts store in my hometown had plenty of bows,stickers,decorative tape,and artsy embellishments to choose from so I didn’t have problems buying the materials. However,I did have a difficult time in sifting through all our pictures.My friend and I had numerous photos together that I didn’t know which ones to include.In the end,I just chose the wackiest and goofiest pictures we had to at least cheer her up whenever she felt homesick.Anyway,apart from that,I had to gather all the tokens and memorabilia I have saved.It was a god thing that I kept all the tickets and stubs from the movies or concerts we went to together.
I read somewhere that the best scrapbooks tell a story on every page through the images,text,and mementos.For this reason,I decided to tell the story of how we first met and listed down all the best trips and memories we’ve had since then. While making each page,it felt really nostalgic and heartwarming to be able to reminisce all the times we spent together.But,for me,one of the best parts in the whole scrapbooking process was choosing the color schemes and
coming up with witty captions.It really exhausted all my creativity but since it was for someone I cared deeply about,I didn’t mind investing so much of myself.
All in all,it took me almost two weeks just to finish the whole thing.But I felt really satisfied with my work since it really expressed how grateful I was to have spent all these moments with her.Thankfully,my friend really loved it.She even cried and told me that she will treasure it forever.After all that hard work,seeing her happy made it all worth it.
