BBC英语听力2012年05月合辑（文本+翻译）：BBC0510The Chinese activist Chen Guangcheng has appealed to the central government for justice after making a dramatic escape from hous e arrest. One activist told the BBC that Mr Chen, who's blind, was helped to climb the garden wall at his rural house and was taken to the US embassy last Monday. There's been no confirmation or denial from the US State Department. Charles Scanlon reports.Activists have told of a daring rescue mission, in which the blind campaigner was smuggled out of his home in a rural village which has been surrounded by plain-clothes agents. He was driven across country, and then transferred to another car and taken to an undisclosed location in Beijing. From there, Chen Guangcheng recorded a video making a direct appeal to the Prime Min ister Wen Jiabao, who's seen as the most liberal member of the leadership. President Barack Obama has called US congressional leaders to urge them to tackle the country’s budget deficit together following his re-election for a second term in office. Mr Obama faces the immediate challenge of getting both sides to agree budget reforms to avoid going over what’s been described as “the fiscal cliff”. The EU is going after Iran where it really hurts. It's targeting Iran's oil exports. France's foreign minister Alain Juppé has told a news conference that he hopes the EU will impose an embargo on Iran's oil exports. The move is expected to be announced at an EU foreign ministers' meeting to be held in Brussels at the end of January. These potential new measures target oil which is at the heart of Iran's economy. Iran's state gets more than half of its revenues through the export of crude oil. At the moment, the EU buys around 17% of Iran's oil exports. If Europe does stopping buying, Iran will have to turn to countries in Asia and those countries will demand a discount.欧洲此举指向伊朗石油出口，直击伊朗要害。

The United States has been consulting its allies in East Asia about the death of the North Korean leader Kim Jong-il. President Obama spoke with the South Korean head of state Lee Myung-bak while the American Secretary of State Hillary Clinton met her Japanese counterpart Koichiro Gemba. Mrs Clinton said the United States and Japan shared an interest in a peaceful, stable transition in North Korea. The North Korean government has called on citizens to rally behind the son of Kim Jong-il. State media described the son, Kim Jong-un, as the "great successor".美国与其东亚友邦商谈有关朝鲜领导人金正日去世一事。

One of the most influential and notorious advisers of the late Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi is in detention in Tripoli nearly a year after he first went on the run. The former intelligence chief Abdullah al-Senussi was handed over by the authorities in Mauritania where he was arrested in March when he arrived on a false passport. He added that the prosecution would begin questioning him as soon as possible. For decades, Abdullah al-Senussi, Libya's former spy chief was Col. Gaddafi's right hand man. The US National Guard has been deployed in New Orleans as the city, which has a population of 360,000, waits for the arrival of Hurricane Isaac. The massive new flood gates designed to pr otect the city from a storm surge have been closed. Isaac is e xpected to make landfall exactly seven years after another hurricane Katrina killed more than 1,800 people in New Orleans. I'm standing on Canal Street in the French Quarter at the moment, and the first scores of the storm are starting to strike; and the tidal swell thrown up by Isaac is starting to be felt along the gulf coast. Libya’s short left prime minister elected, Mr. Abu Shagur proposed an emergency cabinet list with a small number of ministries. He described the country as facing dangerous challenges. People in Venezuela are voting in a most hotly contested presidential election since President Hugo Chaves came to power 14 years ago. Mr. Chavez is seeking another 6-year-term to continue what he calls a socialist revolution. His main rival, Henrique Capriles, is backed by a broad coalition of opposition parties. We went out this morning to polling stations and saw thousands of people waiti ng to vote and that some indications of how supporters on both sides feel it very important to go and have their say and made their decision. Because I think for the first time many people in the opposition feel as if they have a real chance of winning, a real chance of challenging Hugo Chaves and of course Chaves has many strong suppor ters who will felt it very important to try to maintain their president in power. The Turkish ministry has responded with artillery fire after a Syrian shell landed about 200m inside Turkey near a border village where 5 civilians were killed on Wednesday. Our correspondent James Reynolds visited Akcakale where the blast took place.对落于其境内200米处的一枚叙利亚炮弹事件，土尔其给予炮火反击。

Motors coming on way artillery fire the other way. It doesn’t seem to be escalating beyond that, but I can’t stay in the town of Akcakale. There is extre me amount of tension and anger. I saw a Turkish armed vehicle facing the Syrian border. There were armed police chief driving around the town. A car bomb has exploded near a police headquarters in the Syrian capital Damascus. At least one person was killed, several others were injured. Syrian State Television described the blast as a terrorist attack.叙利亚首都大马士革警察总部附近发生一起汽车爆炸事件，造成至少一人死亡，数人受伤。
