文化溯源Cultural History

新中国诞生之初,百废待兴。

中国建筑各成员企业按照党和国家的统

一指挥和调遣,义无反顾地参与了以中国一

重、二重、长春汽车厂等为代表的156个国家

重点项目及大庆油田、燕山石化等一大批国家

基础设施工程的建设,被誉为“南征北战的铁

军,重点建设的先锋”,为祖国社会主义事业

做出了巨大贡献,也为中国建筑的组建奠定了

坚实的基础。

Following the founding of modern China, all

previously obstructed projects were restarted.

All member enterprises affiliated to CSCEC

took their initiative and devoted themselves into

construction of 156 key national projects typically

represented by China First Heavy Industries,

China Second Heavy Industries and Changchun

Automobile Plant, etc., and a large number of national

infrastructure projects, particularly including Daqing

Oil Field and Yanshan Petrochemical Complex, and

etc., under the unified command and deployment

by the CPC Central Committee and the Central

Government. CSCEC was highly honored as “Iron Army

of Construction Campaign across China and Vanguard

of Key Constructions”. Besides, it has contributed

tremendously to the China’s socialist cause and has

CSCEC.

At the beginning of reform and opening

up, CSCEC actively participated in the foreign aid

engineering construction projects. China Overseas

Construction Engineering Co., Ltd. was officially

registered and established in Hong Kong to mainly

engage in the foreign engineering project contracting

and labor service cooperation.

At this stage, CSCEC established its core cultural

value of “Iron Army” spirit, including the specific

contents of “Willing to dedicate, work hard, and break

a new path” while firmly establishing the image and

reputation of CSCEC in the minds of people. It has

become the powerful base of the corporate culture of

CSCEC.

In June 1982, State organizations went through institutional restructuring. After this historic change, CSCEC was among the first batch of the independent legal entities directly controlled by the CPC Central Committee and the relevant organizations under the State Council and began to operate independently and assume the full responsibility for its profits or losses.

During this period, CSCEC survived the storm-raging baptism in an unprecedented period when China’s planned economy was transformed to the market economy, during which CSCEC moved forward from tradition to creative innovation and made greater breakthroughs against rivals. At this stage, the corporate culture of CSCEC was gradually consolidated and diversified. All subsidiaries generalized different corporate cultural values according to their respective actual situations and features, and the aspiration after high quality and faithful compliance has become the integral part of the corporate culture. In 1990, the company headquarters defined the corporate spirit highly featuring “Devotion, Practical-mindedness; Innovation and Excellence” through the extensive investigation, screening and extraction, and the discussion and recognition by leaders, managing executives, workers and family members of the working staff so as to hold a banner to encourage all working staff to strive to make much progress and achieve the best and win more honors and strongly promote the rapid progress of the corporate culture.

这一时期,中国建筑承接了国内外一系列知名、重大工程项目并再创建筑奇迹。二局、三局在深圳地王大厦项目创造了“两天半一个结构层”的“新深圳速度”。中建八局在“天上无飞鸟、地上石头跑”的戈壁腹地巴丹吉林沙漠承建了酒泉卫星发射中心工程,并以顽强拼搏的铁军作风,高质量完成了建设任务,创出了三项世界第一、一项亚洲第一、三项中国第一的建筑奇迹。

Strongly inspired by the Southern Tour Speech of Deng Xiaoping, CSCEC quickened its pace for the efficient restructuring and development.

During this period, CSCEC contracted and undertook a series of well-renowned and important domestic and overseas engineering projects and continuously created architectural miracles. China Construction 2nd Engineering Bureau and China Construction 3rd Engineering Bureau created the “New Shenzhen Speed”—“One structural floor constructed in two and a half days” in building Shenzhen Di Wang Commercial Center. China Construction 8th Engineering Bureau took its initiative to conduct the engineering construction for Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center Engineering Project in Badain Jaran Desert Hinterland highly featuring “No bird flying in the sky while only stones rolling on the ground”, completing the construction task with high quality by the Iron Army’s pioneering spirit while creating the architectural miracles as the project won three world No.1s, one Asia No.1 and three China No.1s.

During this period, China Overseas Holdings Co., Ltd., successfully launched its IPO in Hong Kong Stock Exchange and quickly realized the highly effective combination of the production operations and capital

At this stage, CSCEC established the “Desert Spirit” highly featuring “hard work and desire for high quality products” based on its successful completion of Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center Engineering Project, which was honorably recorded into China’s architectural development history. CSCEC positively introduced Corporate Identity (CI) strategy and implemented the cultural integration and unified brand to vigorously promote the brand building of “CSCEC” and “China Overseas”, thus having laid the image foundation and the cultural foundation for the fast development of CSCEC. Especially in 1996, CSCEC ambitiously promoted “3-in-1” cultural building program, respectively the cultural concept, CI strategy and code of conduct, thus having brought into solid combination between project management and civilized engineering construction, and between culture and management, leading to an inner breakout and setting a good example for other enterprises in the industry while making a positive social impact and initiating a new chapter in the corporate cultural development in China’s architectural construction industry.

CSCEC seizes the opportunities with innovations to upgrade its major business indicators dramatically in terms of business scale and net profits. CSCEC has strongly followed the scientific development trend and is honorably ranked 147th on the Fortune Global 500 list.

During this period, CSCEC is highly characterized by the striking reorganization and leap-forward development with great breakthroughs achieved in the institutional restructuring. In 2007, CSCEC jointed the alliance with China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), Sinochem Group and Baosteel Group Corp oration to complete the overall reorganization and system transformation by founding China State Construction Engineering Corporation Limited, which was publically listed on A-stock market in Shanghai Stock Exchange in 2009.
