Shopping for clothes is not the same experience for a man as it is for a woman. A man goes shopping because he needs something. He knows what he wants, and his purpose is to find it and buy it, the price is a secondary consideration . All men simply walk into a shop and ask the assistant for what they want. If the shop has it, the salesman immediately produces it, and the business of trying it on is done at once. All being well, the bargain(交易)can be and often is

completed in less than five minutes, with hardly any chat and to everyone’s satisfaction.

For a man, slight problems may begin when the shop does not have what he wants. Then the salesman tries to sell the customer(顾客)something else-he offers the nearest he can to the thing required. He usually says, “I know this jacket is not the style(式样)you want, sir, but would you like to try it on for size? It happens to be the color you wanted. ”Few men have patience with this treatment, and the usual reply is: “This is the right colour and may be the right size, but I should be wasting my time and yours by trying it on. ”

Now how does a woman go about buying clothes? She does so in the opposite way. She has never fully made up her mind what she wants, and she is only “having a look round”. She is always open to persuasion, indeed she considers of great importance what the saleswoman tells her, even what her friends tell her. She will try on any number of things. Highest in her mind is the thought of finding something that everyone thinks suits her. Most women have an excellent sense (判断力)of value when they buy clothes. They are always trying to find an unexpected bargain. Faced with a roomful of dresses, a woman may easily spend an hour going from one counter(柜台)to another before selecting the dresses she wants to try on. It takes a great deal of time but gives great joy. Most dress shops supply chairs for the waiting husbands.

67.The passage mainly talks about ________.

A. differences between men and women shoppers

B. A man goes shopping because he needs something

C. How women go about buying clothes.

D. Women are better at shopping than men

68. The underlined sentence “the price is a secondary consideration” in the first paragraph

means when a man is shopping, ________.

A. he buys good quality things, so long as they are not too dear

B. he buys whatever he likes without considering its value

C. he does not mind how much he has to pay for the right things

D. he often buy things without giving the matter proper thought.

69. What does a man do when he can not get exactly what he wants?

A. He buys a similar thing because of the color he wants.

B. He usually does not buy anything.

C. At least two of his requirements must be met before he buys.

D. So long as the style is right, he buys the thing.

70. What is the most obvious difference between men and women shoppers?

第五部分:任务型阅读(共10小题;每小题1分,满分10分)

请认真阅读下列短文,并根据所读内容在文章后表格中的空格里填入一个恰当的单词。

It’s never too late to right your wrongs, big or small.

Working as hard as I had been over the years, I had become disconnected from(失去联系的)the people who mattered most to me. I decided to spend a year reconnecting with my friends and relatives and making amends(补偿). I devoted myself to caring for what I called “my unfinished business”, which has helped me become a more attentive husband, father, son and friend —and a happier, more energetic person.

Now that I’ve had a good opportunity to revisit my past mistakes—and experience the rewards of fixing them—I’d like to share some of the lessons I have learned:

Have you lost touch with people who were important to you? Are there things you’ve done or not done that are in front of you? Are there people in your life you don’t know how much they meant to you? List your unfinished business and take action to deal with it.

Instead of trying to put an end to the cold war dividing your family, begin with a small thing you can control. Apologize to your brother for not attending his Super Bowl party. Respond to an e-mail you should have answered a week ago. Write a note or make a call.

No matter what the wrong is, the most important thing in making it right is your sincerity. If you reach out with a genuine (真诚的)heart, your friends will be glad to hear from you again.

This is the key to learning and growing. Keep a journal, or summarize what you’ve learned in e-mails to friends. The difficulty we face in dealing with our unfinished business can seem impossibly big, but the first step to clearing them can be simple: Again, write a note or make a phone call .Once you discover your fears and get over them, you’ll become a more complete and pleased person.

书面表达

One possible version:

Should students make friends online?

Some people say yes. The Internet helps students make many friends. Chatting online, students can express their feelings and opinions more freely and even get help with their foreign language studies.

Others, however, think students should not make online friends. They think it a waste of time to make friends online, which should be spent more meaningfully on their studies. Otherwise, their normal studies will be much affected. Besides, some students may even get cheated online.

From my point of view, making friends online is harmful rather than helpful. Students should think of their study, health and safety first. As for friendship, we can easily find it in our classmates and other people around us. (115words)
