雅思真题回忆:2011年11⽉26雅思⼤作⽂ People in developing countries are happier than before while people in developed countries are no happier than they used to be. Why? What lesson can you learn from it? 2011年11⽉26⽇雅思⼤作⽂范⽂ Financially speaking, people are supposed to be happier when their incomes exceed expenses, but the reverse seems to be happening to many people in some developed countries. In comparison, people in some developing countries with a much lower measure of per capita income appear to be happier in what they are actually able to buy within their earnings. The message seems clear enough: higher living standards do not necessarily add to happiness but excessive spending can certainly undermine it. It is hard to tell what does bring happiness when wealth may ironically fail as much as poverty. In countries full of comforts and luxuries, there are chances that people are beginning to count their troubles in the presence of rising living costs. This is very unlike people in developing countries who make positive sense of life by counting blessings and joys. Even in rich countries, life may become more stressful and less enjoyable under the pressure of increasingly higher living standards from time to time. What is worse, job security is already a major concern particularly among less skilled employees who are nervous about impending layoffs. Besides, the reality of financial crisis is spreading from one developed country to another, further complicating the difficult situation and fueling the anger of many less happy people. People in most developing countries have reasons to feel happier than before, probably because they live their lives forward. Being relatively poor, they are happier in knowing who they really are, then doing what they need to do in order to have what they want. To them happiness is more like a direction for motivation than a place for leisure. Also, they are more capable of recognizing and appreciating what they do have. In short, they feel happier exactly because they do not expect too much happiness. This mentality is different from people in developing countries who have large incomes but also large expenses, often resulting in negative balance sheets. In sum, the only way to avoid being unhappy in life, whether referring to a developed country or a developing country, is to have happy thoughts about living within their means and having something to hope for. Per capita income can no longer be the only measure for economic happiness, judging from the fact that people in developed countries are not as happy as they used to be. Without any doubt, the lesson about being happy is for an individual as well as for a country to perform a balancing act between incomes and expenses.

(2011.1.22A&G)There are an increasing number of anti-social behaviors in recent years; People generally believe that the society is to blame. What do you think the causes are and who is responsible for this(反社会,犯罪)Anti-social behavior represents the disrespect to society, which occurs mainly in the form of crimes. This phenomenon stems from our social context, but there are also many other contributing factors. The causes behind the rise of anti-social behaviors are complicated, but the fundamental one is that our society is lacking in the law awareness among common people. Education should teach people to judge right and wrong, and also to obey the social order. But today’s schools and universities focus on the cramming of theoretical knowledge as well as working skills. This leads to the lack of law education form most of people. On the other hand, there exists the practice that some anti-social behaviors are not severely punished, that is to say, people may misunderstand that the cost of wrong-doings is low. Thus there will be no deterrence for those potential criminals or gangsters. What’s more, economic factors also play a part. Briefly, the occurrence of some anti-social behaviors can be attributed to the widening income gap. (1)the government should be responsible for this phenomenon. And schools and universities should promote law awareness. (2) citizens should also obey the law and regulations.
Computer technologies are more accessible and cheaper, as a result, more adults work at home and children study at home. Is this a positive or negative development? As a result of the soaring advancement of technologies, the use of computer has become pr evalent in people’s everyday life. For example, a substantial number of people ranging from workers to students prefer to work and study at home instead of physically sitting in the office and at school.Few would deny that learning or working through computer at home seems beneficial to people in a number of aspects. Initially, the most obvious merit can be contributed to the release of traffic jams. Since less people tend to use the public or private vehicles commuting from work or school to their home, there is a lower possibility of the incidence of traffic jams. Subsequently, it is convenient for people to work or study at home. Distance learning program is a good case in point. It is the distance learning programs through computer that largely helps people who are unable to go to school have access to education. On the contrary, a host of people oppose the opinion above. They believe working or studying at home will probably reduce the communication among colleagues and classmates. They fear that this may encourage people to be more indifferent to others, thus resulting in relationship not as close as in the past. Another consideration for those people lies with people’s physical impairments induced from sitting in front of the computer too long. Since all work needs to be done on computer, barely can people spare a minute for rest and a cup of coffee, which will inevitably hazard people health. All in all, this development can be taken as beneficial as detrimental. It is acceptable for people to work or study with computer at home for sake of the convenience it brings about, but it will also spark off health-related problems and the decrease of people’s social interaction.。
In the contemporary era, the rapid advancement of technology has profoundly influenced our lives, creating both opportunities and challenges.
