In 1969，two American astronaut landed on the moon for the first time in American history . They stayed there for 21 hours before returning to the earth. On December 4，NASA（美国宇航局）said they would send people to the moon again. But this time not just for a quick visit- Astronauts will build a moon base（基地）and stay there，forever.
NASA said they would build the moon base to get ready for a trip to Mars. A base on the moon will help people travel farther in space.
