The 2010 Business Blue Book shows that the automobile consumption is becoming a major part of China consumption. In 2009 China auto market achieved the sales of 13.6 million cars and created a miracle. In 2010 China auto sales will probably make a higher historical record of 15 million cars.

It can be expected in 2010, a series of polices about auto financial aspects will be gradually released, including the automotive consumer credit, auto finance lease, auto saving and so on. China Automotive Technology and Research Center (CATARC) released the latest China auto sales statistics, which show that in May China passenger car sales were 885,800 units, up 25.02% year on year, but it declined by 10.85% than last month. Meanwhile, in April, China passenger car sales were 1,064,500 units, down 7.3% than March.

So some China auto industry experts showed a general concern on China auto sales in the second half year of 2010, and the next few months is the traditional China auto sales season, so a number of China auto institutions have lowered the expectations of China auto sales in 2010, from a breakthrough of 17 million cars sales or 18 million cars sales in early year to the current 15 million cars sales.

In May, the main China automakers’ sales fell slightly. After in the April the sales fell

slightly, in May Shanghai Volkswagen's car sales fell slightly again and declined by 4.8% than April. In May Toyota sales in China was 59,000 cars, up 16% year on year, but it declines by 8% than last month. Chana Ford sold 23,700 cars, but it was lower than 26,500 cars in April. Shanghai GM sold 83,300 cars in May, but it was also lower than 89,500 cars in April. Even last year's China micro-van winner, SAIC-GM-Wuling's sales also declined from 106,200 micro-vans in April to 105,000 micro-vans in May.

Obviously, in the second half year of 2010, China auto independent brands’ sales pressure is much bigger. The statistics released by China Automotive Technology and Research Center (CATARC) showed that in May, China auto independent brands’ passenger cars production and sales shares respectively accounted for 41.8% and 41%, lower 3.37 and 1.44 percentage points than in April.
