1 In summer of 20xx, public officials in our province of Saskatchewan issued a decree: that allaffected people leave their homes and in mass exodus, travel to places of refuge where theycould be safe and accounted for. They were escaping blazing forest fires of epic proportions. It was the largest evacuation in Saskatchewan history. Thousands of people were on the move, all of them in uncertain circumstances, not knowinghow quickly they would return home. For a few young women, these circumstances had an added dimension of uncertainty. Theywere in the late stages of pregnancy. These young women were living as displaced persons far from home, without the supplies theyhad gathered for their new baby. Thankfully, for all concerned, healthy babies were delivered in hospitals close by with medicalstaff to give assistance. We are privileged to live in a province where people come together. That can be difficult whenstress levels are high. And so I salute the evacuees, and the firefighters, and the troops, and the Red Cross, and thelocal officials, the mayors and chiefs. Those who shared money, food and supplies, those who prayed for an ending to this situation. All rose to the occasion. Two thousand years ago, a public official named Caesar Augustus issued a decree that all peopleneeded to be accounted for. Itaffected the entire Roman world. Everyone needed to beregistered. Many people were on the move, with primitive travel arrangements, not knowing how long thiswould take. I'm sure for some young women, this circumstance had an added dimension of uncertainty.Like being in the late stages of pregnancy. For one of these young women, the time came to have her baby, her first. Not in a local hospitalalong the way, not even in a clean, comfortable Holiday Inn, but in a stable, with precious fewamenities. Her only assistant, a most likely very, very nervous husband, with perhaps some curiousanimals looking on. She didn't have much for supplies either. All she had were a few strips of cloth to wrap him in.And all she could lay him in was not a cradle made by her carpenter husband, but just asimple, dirty manger. Crude surroundings for a King. His first visitors – an adoring group in from the fields smellingstrongly of sheep. They were alerted by a type of atmospheric media unlike any we couldimagine. All rose to the occasion. This Christmas, we celebrate the arrival of that very special baby boy. The "Divinest Heart thatever walked the earth was born on that day" as it has been said. His name is Jesus, the essence of hope and peace and the ultimate example of self-sacrificefor love. So from me and my wife Tami, and our family, and on behalf of my colleagues in theGovernment of Saskatchewan: "May you have the gladness of Christmas which is hope; thespirit of Christmas which is peace; and the heart of Christmas which is love." And may you spread joy to others who need it most. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
(1) When I was still a freshman in college, one Scottish professorcomplained to me about being overcharged at a grocery store. He explainedthat many business owners in China would assume that white “foreigners”are rich and unable to understand Chinese. My amiable professor, unwillingto start a conflict, would always pay the undue price even though he wasonly meagerly paid by my university and was able to speak perfect Mandarin. As a student of humanities, I’m particularly intrigued by theramifications of cross-cultural encounters entailed by the new era. Wehave to bear in mind that whenever we talk about the new era, there isalways an old era that keeps haunting us in various ways. Last year I wentto the University of Tokyo for a one-year exchange program. Before I left,my grandma seemed quite distraught and apprehensive: she told me to takecare of myself as if I was about to go to the battlefield. But we Chinese are not the only ones infested by outdatedmisconceptions. When I was bidding farewell to my American professor atan academic writing class in Japan, she stopped me and asked me, “Areyou really from China?” At first I thought she was pointing at my handsomeness, asking me whether I had been to Korea for plastic surgery.Well, clearly this is another stereotype that we should get rid of. Butto my disappointment, she was actually referring to my English skills.“I’ve never met any Chinese student who can talk and write like you do,”She said, “You must have been stayed in the States for some time, haven’t you?” It does seem that even a specialist in linguistics can’t escapethe illusion built up by the last generation of Chinese students: gaucheand diffident, unable to articulate themselves in English.Nevertheless, such stereotypes are becoming a thing of the past. When professors around the globe meet with an increasing number of students from China with both language proficiency and academic competence, well-qualified students will no longer be a surprise. Moreover, with more people going abroad and enjoying firsthand encounters with different cultures, people like my grandma will no longer be subject to the fossilized, antiquated narrative of the past. The interesting thing is, after I told my grandma my experiences in Japan, how clean, safe and beautiful their cities are and how nice, polite and considerate their people are, she gladly removed Japan from the list of least-want-to-visit foreign countries and put it instead to the most-want-to-visit one.Even the shop owner near my campus is now repenting for his peccadillo. When gradually more international purchasers become his patrons, he would no longer treat them differently. And he would even occasionally call out for them, yelling “come, come,”“cheap, cheap,”“thanks thanks” with a very strong Chinese accent. Meanwhile, my Scottish professor has now equipped himself with Wechat and Alipay, assimilating seamlessly into the local life here. The old era is like a cocoon, protecting us from possible dangers outside and providing us with warmth and comfort. However, an overreliance on memories and experiences of a long-gone past can also hinder us from genuine, meaningful interactions for the future, just as the cocoon can also serve as a wall to bar us from the beautiful world outside. But in order to make a brand-new attire or to build a modern silk road, we have to plunge the cocoons into hot water and obtain the silk despite the pain. So ladies and gentlemen, don’t be trapped by the old era. Transcend it, and embrace the new one.Thank you. (2) The struggle of the youth is the most beautiful奋斗的青春最美丽Friends, do you know what is meant by life? Ladies and gentlemen,Good morning/afternoon/evening. It is my great honor to stand before you today to deliver a speech on the power of unity in sports. Sports, as a universal language, transcends borders, cultures, and languages, bringing people together under the same roof. Today, I would like to share with you the significance of unity in sports and how it has shaped our lives in countless ways.Firstly, unity in sports fosters a sense of camaraderie and teamwork. Whether it is a local community match or an international tournament, the spirit of unity is evident. Players from different backgrounds, with different skills, and diverse cultures come together to achieve a common goal. This camaraderie not only strengthens their bonds but also teaches them the importance of working together and supporting one another. In life, the same principles apply. By embracing unity, we can overcome obstacles and achieve greatness together.Secondly, unity in sports promotes inclusivity and diversity. Sports have always been a platform for social integration, bringing together people from various walks of life. For instance, the Paralympic Games showcase the incredible abilities of athletes with disabilities, reminding us that unity can bridge gaps and empower everyone to participate in the spirit of fair competition. This inclusivity extends beyond the playing field, encouraging us to embrace diversity in our daily lives and appreciate the unique qualities each individual brings to the table. Moreover, unity in sports instills values such as discipline, perseverance, and respect. Athletes train rigorously, facing numerous challenges and setbacks. Through this process, they learn the importance of discipline and perseverance. Additionally, the competitive nature of sports teaches athletes to respect their opponents, the rules, and the裁判. These values are not only crucial for success in sports but alsoin our personal and professional lives. By embracing unity, we can cultivate these values and become better individuals.Furthermore, unity in sports has the power to inspire and motivate. Stories of athletes overcoming adversity, uniting their communities, and inspiring millions around the world are countless. These stories remind us that sports have the power to bring people together, fostering hope, and creating a sense of purpose. When we witness the power of unity in sports, we are reminded that together, we can achieve the unimaginable.Lastly, unity in sports can have a significant impact on global issues. Sports events, such as the FIFA World Cup and the Olympic Games, bring nations together, fostering diplomatic relations and promoting peace. In times of conflict and division, sports can serve as a unifying force, reminding us that our common humanity is more important than our differences. In conclusion, the power of unity in sports cannot be overstated. It fosters camaraderie, promotes inclusivity, instills valuable life lessons, inspires and motivates, and has the potential to impact global issues. As we witness the remarkable achievements of athletes around the world, let us remember the importance of unity and strive to bring people together, both on and off the playing field.Thank you for your attention. Let us embrace the power of unity in sports and make it a beacon of hope and inspiration for generations to come.。

I still remember the day when I participated in the online English speech contest. It was a truly unforgettable experience. As soon as I heard about the contest, I knew I had to take part. I was both excited and nervous. The excitement came from the opportunity to showcase my English skills and share my thoughts with the world. The nervousness, well, that was because I wasn't sure if I could do well.I spent countless hours preparing for the speech. I chose a topic that I was passionate about – my love for nature. I researched and gathered as much information as I could. Then, I started writing and rewriting my speech. I wanted it to be perfect. As the day of the contest approached, my nervousness grew. But I told myself to stay calm and believe in myself. When it was finally my turn to speak, my heart was pounding. But as I began to deliver my speech, I gradually became more confident. I could feel the passion in my words.During the contest, I also listened to the speeches of other contestants. They were all so amazing. Some had unique perspectives, while others had great delivery. I learned so much from them. After the contest, regardless of the result, I felt a sense of accomplishment. I had overcome my fears and challenges. This experience has not only improved my English speaking skills but also made me realize that I can achieve anything if I put my mind to it. I am now more confident and eager to take on new challenges. I want to continue to grow and make a positive impact on the world.

Right before I got home, four satellite channels of CCTV were added to the 14 channels we had already had. In prime time at night, they all had interesting shows. Therefore, the five of us-my parents, my sisters and I-had to argue over what to watch. Finally, we agreed that we should watch the "most interesting" programme... If wecould agree what that was. However, all of us there remember that for a long time after we had TV, there were only one or two channels available. The increase in options reveals an important change in our life: the abundance of choice.Fifteen years ago we all dressed in one style and in one colour. Today, we select from a wide variety of designs and shades.Fifteen years ago, we read few newspapers. Today, we read English newspapers like the China Daily and the 21st Century, as well as various Chinese newspapers.Fifteen years ago, English majors took only courses in language and literature. Today, we also study Western culture, journalism, business communications, international relations, and computer science. The emergence of choices marks the beginning of a new era in China's history; an era of diversity, of material and cultural richness, and an era of the rebirth of the Chinese nation. We enjoy the abundance of choice. But this has not come easily.About 150 years ago, China was forced to open up its door by Western canons and gunboats. It has been through the struggle and sacrifice of generations that we finally have gained the opportunity to choose for ourselves. The policy of reform and openness is the choice that has made all the difference.Like others of my age, I'm too young to have experienced the time when the Chinese people had no right to choose. However, as the next century draws near, it is time to ask: What does choice really mean to us young people? Is choice a game that relies on chance or luck? Is choice an empty promise that never materializes? Or is choice a puzzle so difficult that we have to avoid it?First, I would like to say: To choose means to claim opportunities.I am a third-year English major. An important choice for me, of course, is what to do upon graduation. I can go to graduate school, at home or abroad. I can go to work as a teacher, a translator, a journalist, an editor and a diplomat. Actually, the system of mutual selection has allowed me to approach almost every career opportunity in China.Indeed, this is not going to be an easy choice. I would love to work in such big cities as Beijing or Shanghai or Shenzhen. I would also love to return to my hometown, which is intimate, though slightly lagging in development. I would love to stay in the coastal area where life is exciting and fast-paced. I would also love to put down roots in central and western China, which is underdeveloped, but holds great potential. All of these sound good. But they are only possibilities. To those of us who are bewildered at the abundance of opportunities, I would like to say: To choose means to accept challenge. To us young people, challenge often emerges in the form of competition. In the next century, competition will not only come from other college graduates, but also from people of all ages and of all origins. With increasing international exchanges, we have to face growing competition from the whole outside world. This is calling for a higher level of our personal development.Fifteen years ago, the knowledge of a foreign language or of computer operation was considered merely an advantage. But today, with wider educational opportunities, this same knowledge has become essential to everyone.Given this situation, even our smallest choices will require great wisdom and personal determination. As we gain more initiative in choice making, the consequence of each choice also becomes more important. As we gain more initiative in choice making, the consequence of each choice also becomes more important.Nuclear power, for instance, may improve our quality of life. But it can also be used to damage the lives and possessions of millions.Economic development has enriched our lives but brought with it serious harm to our air, water and health. To those of us who are blind to the consequences of their choices, I would like to say, To choose means to take responsibility. When we are making choices for ourselves, we cannot casually say: "It's just my own business. " As policy makers of the next century, we cannot fail to see our responsibility to those who share the earth with us.The traditional Chinese culture teaches us to study hard and work hard so as to honor our family. To me, however, this family is not just the five of us who quarreled over television programmes. Rather, it is the whole of the human family. As I am making my choices, I will not forget the smile of my teacher when I correctly spelled out the word "China" for the first time, I will not forget the happy faces of the boys and girls we helped to send back to school in the mountains of Jiangxi Province. I will not forget the tearful eyes of women and children in Bosnia, Chechnya and Somali, where millions are suffering from war, famine or poverty. All these people, known and unknown, make up our big human family. At different points, they came into my life and broaden my perspective. Now as I am to make choices for myself, it is time to make efforts to improve their lives, because a world will benefit us all only if every one in it can lead a peaceful and prosperous life.

as everyone knows, he was arrested and his book; zhong ni and qu yuan banished for spring and autumn; ode to a left thalamic blindness, mandarin; sima qian; the" historical records" prison; beethoven wrote" moonlight sonata". be too numerous to enumerate examples, but the truth is only one, it is perseverance!in his daily sailing kolumb diary is always written with such a sentence:" we keep going!" this sentence may seem trivial, but contains a profound truth. with this advance courageously spirit, they marched towards the vast sea, acrothe tempestuous waves, after savage wilderness, overcome go through untold hardships, finally found a new continent, completed the history of an amazing feat!have one words of song, everyone for having heard it many times," no experience of wind and rain, how to see rainbow!" the road of life is not smooth, but carries a beautiful dream, just stick to the direction of life, they will be able to create their own or even human miracle!finally, i would like to use a poem:ugly bat with thousands of years of hard work was to win the praise of the poet a buffalo with a million works won the painter's green eyes,we are not born for fame and live to die,we are for the faith and to fight song!Thank you. 3DREAM——A word that has changed the worldHello, everybody !it is my great honor to be here to share my idea withyou .Today,I will talk something about DREAM——A word that has changed the world .“What do you think is the word that has really changed our world ”When I was asked about this question for the first time ,without thinking it too much ,a word flash into my mind ——DREAM ,D-R-E-A-M.People more or less dream about different things ,to be a teacher ,a doctor ,a scientist ,a businessman and so on .All these people who have dreams should berespected ,because Dreams make the world go around .We grow great by our dreams. All big men are great dreamers in their youth.Everyone has a dream ,and everything starts as one’s daydream.Martin Luther king had a dream. He desired for a future where blacks and whites would coexist harmoniously as equals.By speaking the way he did,he educated,he inspired,he informed not just the people there, but people throughout America and unborn generations. He pushed forward the pace of American black society towards the racial equality .Thomas Edison had a dream. He dreamed of a lamp that could be operated by electricity, began where he stood to put his dream into action, and despite more than ten thousand failures,he stood by that dream until he made it a physicalreality! And today, his dream lights up the world at night.Walt Disney had a dream. This,in itself, wasn't unusual -- he was always dreaming. He dreamed of making the first animated feature film, and of building an amusement park that parents could enjoy right along with their kids.Walt Disney empowered his dream and today,Disneyland,Disney world and Disney theme parks attract around the world thrill millions of visitors each and every year.John F.kennedy had a dream. He wanted to land a man on the moon and return him safely to earth so as to restore faith in the American way of life.John F.kennedy empowered his dream and 8 years later Neil Armstrong stepped on theface of the moon. The moon landing certainly gave Americans new found confidence.Dream --- A word that has changed the world Yes ,I would say so ,wouldn’t youYouth is a special life relay station ,the growth with the worry ,the life feeling become aware happily with the dream ,collected a unique youth melody in here .We decide. We choose. And as we decide and choose,so are our lives formed. In the end, forming our own destiny is what ambition is about. And most importantly ,You are the one you choose to be.It is easy to waste our lives ,our days ,our minutes .It is easy to exist than living .So hold fast to your dreams,For if dreams die, life is a broken-wingedbird,That cannot fly.Hold fast to your dreams,For when dreams go,life is a barren field,Frozen with snow.I hope you everyone he梦--一个改变世界的词大家好!
