[6] Elizabeth Bennet is the heroine of Pride and Prejucide. What kind of character do you think Elizabeth Bennet is?

答:

答案:Elizabeth is clever, alert, and observant. She is able to match wits with Darcy several times and with Colonel Fizwilliam, earning their respect and admiration.

Fearless and frank, not rattled by the attack of Lady Catherine de Bourgh, she wins a notable cictory, sending her ladyship away completely routed.

She is independent but not infallible in her judgement-- taken in by the charm of the worthless Wickham. She cannot be blamed for misjudging Darcy. She shows flexibility, discernment and honesty of mind when she reads Darcy's defense in his letter and admits the justice of much of what he says.

She is able to control her emotions at times of stress-- when she first encounters Darcy at Pemberley; when she realizes that she loves Darcy and has good reason to fear that she has lost him, she waits without replying for time to bring a solution. She is witty, fun-loving, recognizing humor in herself and in others, but ridicuing only folly, nonsense, and inconsistencies. She recognizes the follies of her own family and their shortcomings as well as their virtues.

Chapter I The Renaissance Period Definitions of the Literary Terms: 1. The Renaissance: The Renaissance marks a transition from the medie val to the modern world. Generally, it refers to the period between the 14 th & 17th centuries. It first started in Italy, with the flowering of painting, sculpture & literature. From Italy the movement went to emb race the rest of Europe. The Renaissance, which means "rebirth" or "reviva l," is actually a movement stimulated by a series of historical events, such as the re-discovery of ancient Roman & Greek culture, the new discoverie s in geography & astrology, the religious reformation & the economic expa nsion. The Renaissance, therefore, in essence is a historical period in whic h the European humanist thinkers & scholars made attempts to get rid of those old feudalist ideas in medieval Europe, to introduce new ideas that e xpressed the interests of the rising bourgeoisie, & to recover the purity of the early church from the corruption of the Roman Catholic Church. 2. The Renaissance was slow in reaching Englan d not only becaus e o f England?s separation from the Continent but also be cause of its domestic unrest. It was not until the reign of Henry VIII that the Renaissance really began to show its effect in England. With Henry VII I?s encouragement the Oxford reformers, scholars and humanists introduc ed classical literature to England. 15th century, began the English Renaissa nce, which was perhaps England?s Golden Age, especially in literature. H umanism: Humanism is the essence of the Renaissance. It sprang from the endeavor to restore a medieval reverence for the ancient author s and is frequently taken as the beginning of the Renaissance on its consci ous, intellectual side, for the Greek and Roman civilization was based on s uch a conception that man is the measure of all things. Through the new l earning, humanists not only saw the arts of splendor and enlightenment, b ut the human values represented in the works. Renaissance humanists fou nd in the classics a justification to exalt human nature and came to see th at human beings were glorious creatures capable of individual development in the direction of perfections, and that the world they inhabited was thei rs not to despise but to question, explore, and enjoy. Thus, by emphasizin g the dignity of human beings and the importance of the present life, they voiced their beliefs that man did not only have the right to enjoy the bea uty of this life, but had the ability to perfect himself and to perform wond ers. Thomas More, Christopher Marlowe and William Shakespeare are the b est representatives of the English humanists. The first period of the English Renaissance was one of imitation and assimi lation.

A. cold B. hot C. sunny D. rainy 【解析】此题易误为A。 D。2. —_______ do you _______ about spring? —The flowers and the green trees. A. How, like B. How, think C. What, think D. What, like 【解析】此题陷阱选项为A或B或C。 The flowers and the green trees. D。 3. —What’s your sister like? —_______. A. She is a worker B. She likes pears C. She is very thin D. She is like her father 【解析】此题陷阱选项为B或D。 What’s … like? 4. —It’s too hot. Would you mind _______ the door? —_______. Please do it now. A. to open, OK B. opening, Certainly not C. opening, Of course D. to open, Good idea 【解析】此题陷阱选项为A。 由答语中的Please do it now. B。 5. —If you have any trouble, be sure to call me. —_______. A. I am glad to hear that B. I will. thank you very much. C. I have no trouble D. I will think it over 【解析】此题陷阱选项为A或D。 1. We should keep _______ in the reading-room. A. quite B. quietly C. quiet D.quickly 【解析】此题容易误选A或B。 C。 2. The l ight in the room wasn’t _______for me to read. A. enough bright B. brightly enough C. enough brightly D. bright enough 【解析】此题容易误选A或B。 3.
