The US Secretary of State John Kerry has said the deal with Iran over its nuclear program will make Israel and Middle East a safer place. He was speaking after Iran agreed to limit its uranium enrichment program for six months in return for the relaxation of some sanctions. Mr. Kerry told ABC’s this week program at a long-term deal was now a real possibility. “This negotiation is not the art of fantasy, or the art of the ideal. It's the art of the possible, which is verifiable and clear in its capacity to be able to make Israel and the region safer.”During the six-month period, further talks would be held with the aim of reaching a comprehensive agreement. The temporary agreement has attracted sharp criticism in Israel with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu calling it a historic mistake. His spokesman is Mark Regev. “Nuclear energy does not require centrifuges, nuclear energy does not require a plutonium producing heavy water reactor. You only need those two elements if you want a nuclear bomb. Iran is demanding in this deal allows it to maintain the capabilities to move ahead and build that heavy water reactor and of course, not a single centrifuge has been dismantled in this deal, and that's why we say it's a dangerous deal.”In Washington, hard-line lawmakers urged Congress to push for tougher sanctions to hold Iran to account. But two leading senators, one Democrat, the other Republican, said there was probably an agreement on a six-month window before they tried to pass new sanctions.
A new law restricting public protests has been signed in Egypt by the interim President Adly Mansour. It says the police will have to be informed three days before any planed demonstrations allowing the authorities to ban them if they fear violence. The names and addresses of organizers will also have to be submitted. Human rights groups have criticized the measure has an attempt to criminalize people's right to stage peaceful protests. Tens of thousands of demonstrators have marched through the Ukrainian capital Kiev to protest against the government decision last week to scrap an association agreement with the European Union. President Yanukovych's government has said it could not afford to break relations with neighbouring Russia. David Stern reports. “Ukraine is Europe, the crowd shouted. Protesters packed they ethically named European square insides streets in one of the biggest rallies Ukrainian capital has seen in a decade. They came to support a groundbreaking agreement drawing Ukraine closer to the EU which Ukrainian officials were supposed to sign this week. But last week, President Viktor Yanukovych's government abruptly called off the signing saying the country would suffer huge financial losses.”

A Saudi girl who eloped to Yemen to be with her Yemeni boyfriend has been given UN protection while she seeks asylum. Sebastian Usher reports. “In Yemen, the two lovers, Huda and Arafat have been celebrated as a modern day Romeo and Juliet. Huda across the border several weeks ago promptly followed by Arafat who was working in Saudi Arabia. Huda, who is in her early 20s, says she decided that they have to elope after Arafat's marriage proposal was rejected by her family. The two have been held in an immigration detention centre in the capital Sanaa. Huda is charged with illegally crossing the border. The same charge against Arafat was dropped, but he refused to be freed wanting to remain with her in prison.”
The government in Colombia says ten fighters from the country’s second largest rebel group, the ELN have been killed. An overnight raid by the army close to the Venezuelan border also left at least two other rebels from the left-wing group injured. The Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos said peace negotiations will to be sped up to avoid more deaths. His administration is already in talks with the country's largest armed group the Farc.
People in Honduras have been casting their ballots in the country's general elections with many enthusiastic voters voting early. Opinion polls suggested a close race between the main presidential candidates, the Conservative Juan Orlando Hernandez and Xiomara Castrothe, the wife of the former president Manuel Zelaya who is deposed in a coup in 2009. Hondurans are also choosing new mayors in members of the parliament. The country is the second poorest in Latin America with some of the world's highest murder and inequality rates.

Bells rang out at the moment of silence was observed of the exact moment the president was hit as his motorcade passed through. The mayor of Dallas Michael Rawlings recalled the day of the assassination.
I remember being called into the school gymnasium, hearing the terrible news and told to go home. Stunned civic leaders at the Trade Mart luncheon awaited a president who would never arrive. Crowds prayed outside Parkland Hospital. Traffic stopped in cities across the country as news spread from car to car.
Russia's Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has arrived in Geneva to help push for an agreement on Iran's nuclear program. Negotiators from Iran and 6 world powers have spent a third day trying to resolve their differences. From Geneva, Jeremy Bowen reports.
The arrival in Geneva of some more all of the foreign ministers of the big powers negotiating with Iran does not necessarily guarantee a deal. But they're unlikely to come unless an agreement is much closer than it was when they rushed here 2 weeks ago. The big questions being discussed include the future of a nuclear power station Iran is building which could in theory provide material for nuclear weapon. There is also the question of what limits if any Iran would accept on its enrichment of Uranium. It says its enrichment is legal and peaceful and nothing to do with developing a nuclear weapon.
The international chemical weapons watchdog has announced 10 different companies to bid for the task of destroying Syria's chemical weapons arsenal. The organization for the prohibition of chemical weapons has listed 18 types of chemicals that need to be disposed of at an estimated cost of between 37 and 54 million dollars.
Zimbabwe has warned that from the beginning of next year foreigners who run businesses in retail, farming and many other sectors of the economy will be arrested. Officials said Zimbabweans will be identified to take over the businesses to prevent shortages.

The words he used were Zadam for homeland to which the fans replied Spemny, Ready. It's a chant associated with Ustashas, a puppet regime which ruled the country during the World War II. It was responsible for the brutal persecution of Jews, Serbs, Gypsies and other anti-Fascists. Simunic denied it was used in a political context.

There have been 2 explosions in the busy neighborhood in the Pakistani city of Karachi. Eyewitnesses said 5 people have killed in a blast in the Ancholi area where many Shia Muslims live. Many other people have been wounded.
British police investigating the case of 3 women who were held captive for 30 years at a house in London say they've uncovered a complicated and disturbing picture of emotional control. Police say the women had been physically abused including being beaten but detective inspector Kevin Hyland who's leading the investigation said that may not have been apparent.
There was a degree of physical abuse and there was what would be over a period of years, some form of grooming, just generally, you know making them do, as they were wanted them to do. They may to the naked eye look like somebody just going around with their ordinary business. But actually, they controlled in a way but it was invisible.
Rescue services in Latvia say they will continue to search through the night for survivors in the rubble of a supermarket that collapsed in the capital Riga on Thursday. Forty-eight people including 3 firefighters are known to have been killed. The cause of the collapse is still unclear and the police have launched a criminal investigation. The government has declared 3 days of mourning.
The Norwegian chess prodigy Magnus Carlsen has won the world championship crown. The 22-year-old beat Viswanathan Anand of India who'd held the title since 2007. Here is Andrew North.
Nearly half of his opponent's age, Magnus Carlsen already had a reputation as a chess prodigy before taking the title from Viswanathan Anand. The final moment came after several hours of intense spar in the tenth game in which the two men had matched each other move for move. But then, to the dismay of the Indian supporters, he capitulated, ending Carlsen an unassailable lead and the world crown. His youthful look has prompted the Russian chess legend Garry Kasparov to dub him a Harry Potter type super talent.

Up to 2,700 overseas students have to leave the country or find an alternative course by 1 December, after a British university has been stripped of the right to recruit international students. London Metropolitan University is no longer allowed to authorise visas for students outside the European Union after its licence was revoked . The UK Border Agency made this controversial decision after it found that London Metropolitan University has not taken adequate measures to ensure applicants are genuine students. It claims that more than a quarter of the 101 students sampled have no right to remain in the UK and that there isn't proper evidence to show students have reached a satisfactory level of English. It says there are also attendance monitoring issues, which means it is impossible to know whether students are turning up for lectures . The UK Border Agency's decision has been widely criticised for damaging the reputation of the UK's universities and disrupting legitimate students. Donna Marie Winstanley, from Hong Kong, doesn't know whether she'll be allowed to finish her university course: "If you have studied in London, you are more likely to get a better job in Asia. (…) I 've already paid around ￡16,000 in fees and was preparing to pay just over ￡8,000 for this year's fees." MPs have called on Immigration Minister Damian Green to allow existing students to finish their degree courses, but Mr Green said he would "enforce the rules". [00:12.25]For many years British people have been recommended to eat at least 'five-a-day' ¨C [00:17.96]that is five items of fruit or vegetables every day in order to improve their health and reduce the likelihood of illness, in particular cancer. [00:27.75]The recommendation was first put forward in 1990 by the World Health Organization [00:33.62]which said that the 'five-a-day' diet could prevent cancer and other chronic diseases. [00:39.80]Since then the advice has been a mainstay of public health policies in many developed countries, [00:46.20]such as the UK, where the population eat a high proportion of junk food. [00:51.12]Many health campaigns have promoted the advice, and indeed much food packaging in Britain states how the contents will constitute part of your five-a-day. [01:01.64]However, a study of 500,000 Europeans from 10 different countries refutes the commonly-believed suggestion [01:09.31]that up to 50% of cancers could be prevented by increasing the public's consumption of fruit and vegetables. [01:16.58]Instead the study, which is led by researchers from a well-respected New York medical school, [01:22.33]estimates that only 2.5% of cancers could be averted by eating more fruit and veg.
