SNOWFLAKE' is one of 1,000 words to be added tothe latest edition of the Oxford English Dictionary.
According to the latest edition of the OED, 'snowflake' is “an insult to describe someone whois "overly sensitive or as feeling entitled to specialtreatment or consideration".-根据牛津词典的新增释义,雪花是对于那些过分敏感或者认为自己享有特权或者优待的人贬义统称。
The words are just a few of 1,000 new words thathave made it into the new edition of the bible of theEnglish language.
The OED also gives the approval to ‘madnsplain’ –ladies you’d better ask a man for apatronising explanation of that word – and BFN –standing for ‘big fat negative’.
To make it into the revered bible of the English language the OED requires severalindependent examples of a word being used and evidence that it has been in use “for areasonable amount of time”.
史蒂文森说,他现在很留意一个叫glamping的词,这是glamorous(耀眼)和camping(露营)的综合体。
Bromance是Brother(哥儿们)和Romance(相恋)的合并,是指两个男人亲密却不含性行为的关系。

Brexit may mean Brexit to Theresa May, but the Oxford English Dictionary has come to the aid of those who wish for a less opaque definition.
The word is among 1,500 new words added to the dictionary this week.
OED editors steered clear of political controversy by defining the process of Brexit rather than its consequences or implementation.《牛津英语词典》的编辑们没有从脱欧产生的后果或最终的实现来下定义,而是对Brexit 的过程进行定义,避开了该词背后的政治纷乱。
The definition reads: The (proposed) withdrawal of the United Kingdom from the European Union, and the political process associated with it. Sometimes used specifically with reference to the referendum held in the UK on 23 June 2016, in which a majority of voters favoured withdrawal from the EU.
