3.leave—alone和leave----aside(搁置一边,不予考虑)进行辨析,要注意leave的其它短语;leave behind 留下;leave for动身去;leave off停止;leave out省略,忘掉。

4.set aside是新课标的重要短语,意思较多,可以在不同语境中有不同意思;另外,与set有关的短语之间的辨析也是常考点。2010年高考仍有可能考到set的有关用法。

5.have sb. doing/have sth. done、have sb.do;当have后接这三种形式的宾语补足语时,要区分它们的不同用法,特别是have sb. doing用于否定句,其中have有“容忍”的意思,表示不许,不让某人做某事;2005年天津卷曾这样考查过。2010年也会考查have的这三种情况。

6.动词不定式为每年高考考查的热点,2010年仍会对其考查,考生要注意情景下的设题;要注意不定式的被动语态。

Every object tells a story. Even the most ordinary objects can present to us powerful images. Sometimes it is the ordinary nature of these objects that actually makes them so extraordinary. Such is the case with an old leather shoe in a museum in Alaska. At first glance it does not look like much. It is a woman’s shoe of a style popular in the 1890s. But what is unique(独特的) about this shoe is where it was found. It was discovered on the Checkout Pass, the famous trail used by the people seeking gold in Alaska. Who it belonged to or why it was left there is not known. Was it perhaps dropped by accident as the woman climbed up the 1500 stairs carved outface? Or did she throw away goods that she didn’t need in order to travel lighter?

Over 100, 000 people with “gold fever” made this trip hoping to become millionaires. Few of them understood that on their way they would have to cross a harsh wildness. Unprepared for such a dangerous journey, many died of starvation and exposure to the cold weather.

The Canadian government finally started requiring the gold seekers to bring one ton of supplies with them. This was thought to be enough for a person to survive for one year. They would carry their supplies in backpacks(背包) each weighing up to fifty pounds; it usually took at least 40 trips to get everything to the top and over the pass. Whoever dropped the shoe must have been a brave and determined woman. Perhaps she was successful and made it to Alaska. Perhaps she had to turn back in defeat. No one will ever know for sure, but what we do know is that she took part in one of the greatest adventures in the 19th century.

60. The ord inary woman’s leather shoe is considered unusual because _______.

A. it was an important clue to life in the past

B. it was found on a famous trail

C. it at one time belonged to a VIP

D. it was a fashionable shoe at that time

A. they would not die of hunger and cold

B. the army would have enough food for fighting a war

C. they would change these goods with the Eskimos

63. No matter what happened to the woman who owned the shoe, _______.

A. she must have lived a happy life

Do you know how to use a mobile phone (手机) without being rude to the people around you?

Talking during a performance irritates (激怒) people. If you are expecting an emergency call, sit near the exit doors and set your phone to vibrate (振动). When your mobile phone vibrates, you can leave quietly and let the others enjoy the performance.

Think twice before using mobile phones in elevators, museums, churches or other indoor public places—especially enclosed spaces. Would you want to listen to someone’s conversation in these places? Worse yet, how would you feel if a mobile phone rang suddenly during a funeral! It happens more often than you think. Avoid these embarrassing situations by making sure your mobile phone is switched off.

When eating at a restaurant with friends, don’t place your mobile phone on the table. This conveys the message that your phone calls are more important than those around you.

Mobile phones have sensitive microphones that allow you to speak at the volume you would on a regular phone. This enables you to speak quietly so that others won’t hear the details of your conversations. If you are calling from a noisy area, use your hand to direct your voice into the microphone.

Many people believe that they can’t live without their mobile phone. Owning a mobile phone definitely makes life more convenient, but limit your conversations to urgent ones and save the personal calls until you are at home.

64. What should you do when you need to answer a phone call during a performance?

A. Call back after the performance.

B. Answer it near the exit door.

C. Talk outside the exit door.

D. Speak in a low voice.

65. Putting your mobile phone on a restaurant table may make your friends think_____.

A. you prefer to talk to your friends at the table

B. you value your calls more than your friends

C. you are enjoying the company of your friends

D.you are polite and considerate of your friends

66. The author implies that the use of mobile phones in such places as museums should be_____.

When a rare disease ALD threatened to kill the four-year-old boy Lorenzo, his parents refused to give up hope. Doctors explained that there was no cure for ALD, and that he would probably die within three years. But Lorenzo’s parents set out to prove the doctors wrong.

The parents devoted themselves to keeping their son alive and searching for a cure. But doctors and the families of other ALD patients often refused to take them seriously. They thought the efforts to find a cure were a waste of time, and drug companies weren’t interested in supporting research into such a rare disease.

However, the parents still refused to give up and spent every available hour in medical libraries and talking to anyone who would help. Through trial and error, they finally created a cure from ingredients (调料) commonly found in the kitchen. The cure, named "Lorenzo’s Oil", saved the boy’s life. Despite the good results, scientists and doctors remained unconvinced. They said there was no real evidence that the oil worked and that the treatment was just a theory. As a result, some

families with ALD children were reluctant to try it.

Finally, the boy’s father organized an international study to test the oil. After ten years of trials, the answer is: the oil keeps ALD children healthy.

68. Doctors said that Lorenzo might die within three years because_____ .

A. they had never treated the disease before

B. Lorenzo was too young to be cured

C. no cure had been found for ALD

D. ALD was a rare disease

69. The families of other ALD patients thought that _____ .

A. the research for the new cure would cost too much money

C. various cures have been found for ALD

D. the oil really works as a cure for ALD

Every day 25 million U.S. children ride school buses. The safety record for these buses is much better than for passenger cars; but nevertheless, about 10 children are killed each year riding on large school buses, and nearly four times that number are killed outside buses in the loading zones. By and large, however, the nation’s school children are transported to and from school safety.

Even though the number of school bus accidents is not large, the safety of children is always of intense public concern. While everyone wants to see children transported safely, people are divided about what needs to be done--particularly whether seat belts should be compulsory.

People in favour of seat belts on school buses--many of them parents and medical organizations--argue that seat belts are necessary not only to reduce fatality and injury, but also to teach children lessons about the importance of using them routinely in any moving vehicle. A side benefit, they point out, is that seat belts help keep children in their seats, away from the bus driver. People who object to seat belt installation suggest that children are already well protected by the school buses that follow the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA) safety requirements set in 1977. They also believe that many children won’t wear s eat belts anyway, and that may damage the belts or use them as weapons to hurt other children.

A new Research council report on school bus safety suggest that there are alternate safety devices and procedures that may be more effective and less expensive. For example, the study committee suggested that raising seat backs four inches may have the same safety effectiveness as seat belts.

The report sponsored by the Department of transportation at the request of Congress, reviews seat belts extensively while taking a broader look at safety in and around school buses.

72. Each year, children killed outside buses in the loading zones, are about_____.

A. 10

B. 40

C. 30

D. 50

73. According to the passage, who has the greatest de gree of control of the school buses “safety”?

C. The Medical Organization.

D. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

74. It may be inferred from this passage that_____ .

A. many of the opponents(反对者) of seat belt installation are parents and officials of the

Department of Transportation

B. proposals of seat belts on school buses would be seriously considered

C. an alternate safety device (raising seat backs four inches) may be taken into consideration

D. The Department of Transportation may either take the idea of seat belts or other measures

第二卷非选择题(满分45分)

第一节阅读表达(共5小题;每小题3分,满分15分)

阅读下面的短文,并根据短文后面的要求答题。(请注意问题后的字数要求)Every year 2.2 million tons of oil are spilled ( 散落,溅出) into the ocean. Actually, this only amounts to a small percentage of the total 1.6 billion tons of oil shipped around the world each year. However , this spilled oil has terrible effects on ocean life, including the coastlines where the off washes up onto shore. Some of the largest spills in history were caused by oil tankers running into each other or by an oil tanker sailing into shallow water and hitting the bottom of the ocean.

After these spills, officials try to discover who or what was at fault to help prevent similar accidents in the future.

One of the worst oil spills in history occurred along the Alaskan coastline in 1989. In this accident, 42,000 tons of oil spilled from a tanker which resulted in terrible damage to this sensitive natural area. In this spill, the tanker's captain, who was tired from overwork and drinking alcohol, had gone to___________. He gave control of the ship to the third mate. The third mate was unfamiliar with the path the ship took, and he ran the ship onto Blighe Reef. Blighe Reef is a natural underwater rock wall near the Alaskan coast. Damaged by the reef, the ship leaked oil out into the ocean. More than 1,600 kilometers of coastline were affected by the oil spill. Some scientists who studied nature in the area guessed that 580,000 birds and 5,500 otters died when the oil from the spill covered their skin. As well, smaller shellfish and other sea creatures were later eaten by seals, whales, and other animals. The most oil ever spilled was actually dumped on purpose as an act of ecological warfare. The term ecological warfare means to fight by doing harm to nature in the area under attack. In 1990, Iraq sent soldiers into Kuwait and set off the Persian Gulf War. As part of the Iraq war plan,900,000 tons of oil were let out into the Persian Gulf Way Iraq. This oil covered 1,500 square kilometers of water in the Persian Gulf. The oil also damaged 650 kilometers of the coastline of both Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. In some places, oil floating on the water was measured to be 43 centimeters thick. Water birds, water plants, and baby fish were all seriously affected by the oil. The long-term effects of this act on the food chain in the area are bound to cause problems tar into the future.
