早上好!今天国旗下讲话的主题是“乐观向上，做一个自信的人”。
一个生长在孤儿院中的小男孩，常常悲观地问院长：“像我这样的没人要的孩子，活着究竟有什么意思?”院长总是笑而不答。一天，院长交给孩子一块石头，让他拿到市场上去卖。但院长又悄悄告诉他，无论别人出多少钱，绝对不能卖。第二天，孩子惊奇地发现，不少人对他的石头感兴趣，而且价钱越出越高。第三天，在黄金市场上，石头的价钱高了10倍。最后，当石头被拿到宝石市场上时，石头的身价又涨了10倍，更由于男孩怎么都不肯卖，石头竟被传扬为“稀世珍宝”。
后来，院长是这样告诉小男孩：“生命的价值就像这块石头一样，在不同的环境下就会有不同的意义。一块不起眼的石头，

国内外多少科学家，尤其是发明家，哪一位不是对自己所攻克的项目充满信心呢?一次又一次地失败只会一次又一次地激发起他们的斗志——他们认为：失败越多，距离成功也就越近了。但自信不是平白无故地就会附着在人身上的，人首先要有真才实学，才会有真正意义上的自信，并把它作为一种极其有用的动力。
空有满腹自信，那只说得上是自以为是罢了。这种所谓的“自信”，不但不能推动人前进，反而害人不浅。
同样，在我们的学习中，仅有自信也是不够的，自信应该与努力有机地结合起来。时常见到有部分同学在考试前没有一丝紧张，满怀自信地步入考场。但考试过后，这部分同学中有的分数挺高，有的分数却羞于见人。为什么呢?因为前者既自信，又刻苦认真地学习;后者是单有自信，却未付出努力。这两类同学看上去都是充满信心去考试，但由于平时知识的积累不一样，后果就截然不同。
