A: Hey, we’ve just celebrated Christmas. What did you do on that day? Did you attend a party or something like that?
B: Ah, why are so many people asking the same question over and over again? To tell the truth, I am not so crazy about Christmas and other western festivals like that and I did nothing special on Christmas day.
A: But many western festivals are of great fun and by celebrating them not only can we obtain more knowledge about western cultures but we can also spend more time with our friends especially foreign friends!
B: I don’t see eye to eye with you. You know, some western festivals are so strange that they just make me sick. Take Halloween for example. People are dressed up in strange clothes and even kids dress themselves up like ghosts! And there are also frightening vegetables such as pumpkins with eyes on them! I simply can’t stand it!
A:But there is also peaceful and nice festivals that are not so crazy. Like the Thanksgiving. It brings family members together and everyone gives thanks to somebody or something that has ever helped him or her. B: well, I just went to the airport and saw Linda off. She is going to study abroad and it will be a long time before we meet again.
A: which country will she be studying in?
B: America. Like many others. Nowadays more and more Chinese students go abroad to study and they believe that overseas study is very rewarding.
A: it surely is. By studying abroad, there are at least three advantages. Firstly, it can open up your eyes to a new world. You can experience different cultures and customs. Meet people with characters that differs with Chinese people. All these experience will enrich your life and expand your knowledge. Secondly, in abroad, especially in countries like UK and the USA, which are famous for their higher education, you can study more freely and benefit a lot. last but not least, you will definitely be more independent if you study abroad!
B: I agree. But there are also disadvantages. For example, some chinese students choose to study
abroad just because they want to get away with chinese examinations! And many of them lead a dispirited life abroad without the supervise of their parents. A:Hi! Jessie, have you heard that the divorce rate has been increasing, leading more and more people to notice prenuptial agreements. Have you ever heard of premarital agreements?
B:Yes. Prenups are negotiated by lawyers for the prospective spouses, and signed before a minister binds them in marriage.
A:It seems that you know a lot. So, what is your attitude towards it?
B:Well, prenups show distrust and unconfidence of each other. It’s just like a commercial trade between spouses. Prenups would remind one of them that there is a possibility of infidelity. So in my opinion, it is not proper to sign a premarital agreement.
A: But there are some advantages to sign prenups. For example, if we sign a prenuptial agreement on sth like housework, it will largely reduce the conflicts that might happen in the future marriage life. So the prenup helps to clearly define the responsibilities that the couple needs to take, avoiding many quarrels in the future.

D Of course. I am very sorry for those who have suffered the disaster.
J Year, I think that the earthquake is the worst disaster in nature. take the earthquake in Japan for example ,it resulted in thousands of deaths, and it caused great destruction of property.
D Actually, the earthquake may lead to many other disasters, such as the tsunami in Japan and the mud avalanche in WenChuan. They are really horrible.
J I would go along with you there. Japan is a region where earthquakes are frequent. And it has suffered a lot from earthquakes. But because of their thorough preparation, the loss of the country was reduced to the minimum.
D Exactly, An earthquake usually occurs suddenly, so we should make preparations in advance. Just like the WenChuan earthquake, people did not make any preparations in advance. So It led to very serious results .so how we should prevent the destruction of earthquakes is really something we should concern. Do you have any ideas?
J yeah, most people are killed by falling buildings during earthquakes. Therefore, building structures that can withs tand the power of earthquakes is the most important. What’s more, regular checking and reinforcing of houses are also necessary.

I heard that now scientists have invented a new type of steel joint. an I-joint ,which appears to be the most durable type of joint. besides, I think people living in places where earthquakes happen frequently should place heavy objects in low position, fasten the door, and attach the cupboards or cabinets to walls so that they will not fall down when an earthquake occurs.

C:well, I don’t see eye to eye with you. I think there will be no problem for a baby to learn two languages together only if he has the scientific trainning. Actually , the most scientific training is to do nothing compulsorily , just to make a natural two-languages-learning environment. You know ,in many areas of china, we have many dialects, some of which just don’t have the same grammar rules, the same proununciaton and the same spelling ways. So for them, the dialects and the Putonghua are just two kinds of languages. As we all can see ,they can have a good command of both languages and even switch freely at the same time!
J: but dialect is not the same as a second language at all. for ordinary people they don’ t have the access to two languages-learning-environment at the same time. For them it will be unnatural to learn two languages together. If we stick to teach them different languages together and they can’t learn them well ,they will be disappointed and lose the interest in learning the other languages.
C:maybe ,but it depends on the baby’s talent. Provided a baby who has a gift for language learning, he will find learning two languages together is very easy even without a good environment.
J:But you should admit the fact that not every baby has the gift for language learning . as for
them ,it will be miserable and “bamiaozhuzhang ”.

重庆邮电大学移通学院14-15学年第一学期 大学英语3期末口语考试命题原则 1．命题标准 大学英语（3）课程是本科非英语专业大学一年级第一学期开设的一门公共基础课程，共4学分，理论学时64学时。根据重邮移通学院应用性人才的培养目标，大学英语课程注重知识到能力的转化，强调英语综合应用能力的培养，实施过程评价与终结评价的结合。由此，本学期大学英语2课程拟在学生学期成绩评定方面尝试变革，加入口试部分。考试命题标准参照全日制普通高校同层次、同课程的本科水平，并体现三本学生培养应用型人才为主要目标的特点。在口试难度上保证中等水平的考生能够在规定的考核时间内完成全部口试任务。 2．考试依据和范围 以《大学英语课程教学要求》以及课程组制定的课程教学大纲和考试大纲为依据，题目涵盖本学期教学计划规定的课堂教学内容和学生课外自主学习内容，包括全新版大学英语（第二版）综合教程3的1-4单元、全新版大学英语（第二版）听说教程3的1-6单元的关键话题和对话内容。 3．知识与能力的关系 大学英语（3）课程教学既要注重对词汇和语言点的理解和掌握，又要注重语言实际应用能力的培养。本次口试命题以语言实际应用为考查点，测试了学生对英语口语的掌握情况和语言的灵活运用能力，包括两个部分：小型演讲和生生 对话。每个部分具体的考查范围和分值如下： 第一部分：小型演讲（Mini-speech）（50分）：测试时间2到3分钟。要求两名学生分别就以下题目进行小型演讲，每位同学演讲时间不超过1.5分钟： 1.Which do you prefer, urban life or rural life? 2.Which one you prefer, high school life or university life? 3.What do you need to prepare before a job interview? 4.Do you agree with the death penalty? They may go on a diet to maintain a good figure, they make up to improve their appearance, put a facial mask or skin smoother on their faces during the night, have their teeth straightened, or have their nails polished. Some others have a face-lift to change their nose or chin, make their single-fold eyelids double folded, and have their skin tightened to smooth out wrinkles and crow’s feet. Some even inject botox(瘦脸针) to remove wrinkles. More drastically, some people may have liposuction to remove ,in my opinion the best way to improve appearance is trying to learn to be more elegant and to be more Knowledgeable. ●Why do some people want to improve their appearance? A love of beauty is part of human nature. People like to see beautiful scenery, flowers, and animals. It is not strange that they also want to look at good-looking humans and improve the way they look themselves. With improved features, one may find a better job, attract a more desirable spouse, and gain faster occupations attach great importance to appearance. Do you think “we all have a responsibility to be safe”? There is no denying that safety plays an important part in our daily life. Recently our school has carried out a program aiming at increasing our safety awareness. I consider this as indeed a good practice, which will remind us that safety should always come first in our daily life, whether when we stay at school or outside it. For example, when we are doing sports, we should attach great importance to safety and avoid being hurt.
