My view on opportunity

Views on opportunity vary from person to person. Some people think that opportunity is nothing important. They are of this opinion because they think that if you have knowledge, skill or experience, opportunity will come to you naturally.

Others, however, take a positive attitude to it. From their point of view, opportunity is the most important factor on the way to success. Without opportunity, to their mind, hard work equals nothing. Besides, they always complain that they are not successful

because they are so unlucky as not to meet any opportunity.

My view on opportunity falls between the two extremes. In my opinion, I am more in favor of an objective attitude to opportunity. I hold this view because I think opportunity is necessary to one’s success, but it’s not decisive. It’s true that opportunity tends to help bring a person’s talent and abilities into full play, but it doesn’t mean that everyone can make full use of it when it is under their nose. Besides, “opportunity is fair to everyone:. Therefore, we should not rely solely on opportunity. Instead, we should work hard and get well prepared for its arrival.

But every coin has two sides, and sports are no exception. There are also some apparent negative aspects with sports. To begin with, we may hurt other players if we are not careful enough in sports. Besides, excessive training can also do harm to our health, which is contrary to what we desire. And last but not least, sports take up time, and if we do not strike a balance between our sports and study, they may do us more harm than good.

How to solve the Housing problem in Big City

-- Living in Satellite Cities or Underground

As is know to all, when it comes to the housing problem in cities, we will always find it difficult to make up our mind as to whether to solve it by building satellite cities or by living underground. There are many striking differences between the two alternatives, and we should keep the following points in mind while making the choice/decision.

In the case of building satellite cities, it is clear that the fresh air and beautiful scenery there appeal greatly to the people in overcrowded cities. Besides, with many people leaving the city, more space will be available for those who stay behind. What’s more, it will not only relieve big cities of the burden on land and space, but also provide a much better environment for people to live in. on the contrary, if we live underground, we tend to feel warm in winter and cool in summer. In addition, by living underground, we are still living close to where we work or study. And finally, living underground can keep up away from the traffic noise and polluted air.

No doubt, it depends on which kind of life style we value more. As far as I am concerned, I prefer to build satellite cities, because I’s rather live quietly in fresh air. And this is based on my consideration that health is more important than convenience. Pattern 5: “原因起因——Why”类模块

Why I Take the College English Test Band 4

Nowadays, there is a widespread interest in taking college English Test on campus. We are surprised to learn that universities and colleges throughout China have attached so much importance to English study that passing CET-4 is now a must in most of the Chinese colleges.

There are many reasons why I decide to take CET-r, but in general, they come down to three major ones. For one thing, I think, most well-paid jobs reauire personnel with good knowledge of English, often with a CET-4 certificate. For another, english is

becoming more and more important in our country because of the open-door policy. But the prime reason is perhaps that CET-4 as a more difficult test than Precto3 is a challenge and it is this challenge that appeals to me.

As a result, I am doing my CET-4 now. No doubt, besides providing grade, it also lets me know what I need to spend more time on, and helps make my English permanent. Therefore, I would make more efforts to achieve success in it.

It can also be seen, as a sharp contrast, that the infant mortality has dropped steeply by 15%, from 250 deaths per 1000 births to about 100 deaths per 1000 during the same period. There are several causes contributing to the development shown in the graph. Among other things, the rapid advance in medical science has made it possible to cure a lot of originally incurable diseases and save the life of millions of newborns who might well have been choked or killed before their birth. Besides, the

general improvement of ordinary people’s living standard arous ed their interest in healthy foods and healthy activities. They are feeding on a balanced diet and doing a lot of physical exercises. And finally, the rapid development of science and technology at large have wiped out famine and minimized the damages caused by floods, earthquakes and other natural disasters where mothers and children suffer most.

Film is Giving Way to Tv

The two curves give us a general illustration of change in audiences between TV and the film. It is obvious that there was a sharp rise in TV-watchers from about 6 thousand to above 90 thousand, while a great fall in film-goers during the same period. From these figures we notice that TV is taking over the public from the movie industry.

There are plenty of factors contributing to this development, of which the first and most important is that TV can provide various cheap, convenient and round-the-clock entertainments as well as

services. Besides,it offers us news, sports, matches, comics, TV plays, to name only a few. And finally, it also carries a great variety of educational programs, which makes it possible for TV watchers to teach themselves at home.

However, in the case of the film, it won’t be completely squeezed out. But rather, it will continue to exist as a major source of entertainment for the public for quite a long time to come. One possible reason for this tendency is that, the films are always more touching, thrilling and closely-knitted as compared with TV plays. In addition, the endless ads and the poor quality of TV programs are encouraging a lot of impatient watchers to go all the way to the cinema for a kind of time-saving enjoyment. And again, sitting with a large audience is always a desirable experience. In short, it can be concluded from the two changes that TV and films as 2 major kinds of entertainment will coexist, instead of one killing the other.
