American usage • Cut vegetables with a knife in your
right hand, fork in your left hand and fork teeth down. This is the same as the European style. But after cutting vegetables, put the knife in the right hand flat on the top of the tube plate, and then change the fork from the left hand to the right hand, fork teeth upward, like a shovel, will cut the food into the entrance. After each bite, then turn the right hand back to the left hand, take the knife from the plate with the right hand, and cut the food. For simplicity, you can also cut all the dishes first, and then pour the fork into the right hand and eat slowly.

• The most basic way to use Western tableware is to use all kinds of tableware from outside to inside. Generally, the outermost knife, fork and spoon are used first, and then gradually to the inmost knife, fork and spoon.
