You can keep your old friends close and make new friends with the students who make your life better and happier.Make a planYou might have more difficult courses but high school teachers won't take care of you like in junior high. Mostly, you have to learn by yourself. Getting enough sleep and exercising more are both important. You need to manage your time wisely. You'd better make a time plan or a calendar can help.Be responsible(负责的) for yourselfThere is always someone smarter, richer or better looking than you. I hope that you only pay attention to your own work. Please find out your goals and make them clear. Then stick to your decisions and be responsible for the results.Help other studentsNot everyone is going to be nice to you. But you should give him a hand when you find someone is in trouble. Giving makes each other closer and makes you more popular.Passage 5(2023邵阳)There are many successful people in the world. If you want to succeed like them, the following rules of success are of great importance to you.Speak less. Let your results speak for you. You don't always need to tell everyone what you are doing, or what you're planning to achieve. Let your results do the talking. People will notice and respect you more if they see your results before they hear your plans.Listen more. You can not learn if you do not listen. You cannot grow if you do not learn.Listen with purpose. If you are serious about making your life great, you have to be devoted to(致力于) it.Observe more. The closer you observe, the better your understanding and decisions will be. Pay close attention to those you admire. Pay close attention to what you want to master. Observe what works and what doesn't work in your own life and make changes. Finally, take action. Knowing is not enough and willing is also not enough. We must do. If you want anything in life, it's not coming to you while you sit on your hands. Get up, get out there and get it. Do whatever you can to achieve your great goals.子主题4劳动与职业Passage 6(2023南充)Cooking should be considered as art just like any other activity which requires skills and knowledge. It is often said that students are supposed to learn scientific facts as well as how to prepare meals. The following will explain why cooking should be taught in schools.Cooking is an important skill in life.Schools are supposed to teach knowledge to the students so that they can lead successful independent lives when they are out of school. Also, they can step into the world knowing how to make a living.Cooking helps discover future career. When schools offer cooking lessons, students will show an interest in it and might take cooking as a career. This will give them the chance to perfect their basic skills and be creative in the kitchen.Cooking avoids wasting money. One of the main reasons why cooking should be taught in schools is that the students alwaysuse a lot of money to buy readymade food, while in the real sense they could prepare a nice meal with less cost by buying the required ingredients.Cooking betters math learning.Schools do not just teach how to prepare delicious meals. Students are also taught to follow the instructions in a standard when mixing ingredients. If it is, ‘add 1/4 spoon of salt,' students should only add that amount. So there is no more or less.Cooking Should Be Taught in Schools.Opinion Students should learn scientific knowledge and cooking skills.1.______An importantskill in life•Students can lead independent lives 2.________ when at homealone.•Students can depend on themselves for basic living after graduation.

I’m Montano. My parents always told me that I couldn’t dance, because it was a girl’s sport. But I never gave up my interest and I really wanted to become a dancing star. I practised secretly, learning from books, movies and shows. However, without my parents’ support, this dream seemed impossible to achieve. One summer, my little sister Mary was going to have dance lessons. Luckily, I was asked to take her to the lessons. What a good chance to learn dancing! One day, Mary asked me to dance with her in the school dancing competition, because none of the boys in her class would like to do that. They thought she was slow. “You can be a good dancer!” I encouraged her. “Let’s show those people that they are wrong!” In the following months, we practised every evening, still hiding from our parents. Finally, a big day came. I become nervous when I saw my parents watching the competition. But as the music begin, I took a deep breath and tried to put my heart into the dance. We moved perfectly, shining with pride. From the cheering of the crowd, I was sure we had done a good job. When we got off the stage, my fathe r came towards me. He put his hand on my shoulder. “Well done, son. I have to say you are born to dance. Go for it and make us proud of you.”Everyone has to go through lots of difficulties before he achieved his dream.
A group of fantastic pictures show the moment a skull
(脑壳) appeared in an icy wave (波浪). In the water of Port
Stanley in Ontario, Canada, “a face” was about to
appear when Trevor Pottelberg, a photo educator born
in 1976, caught the very moment with the camera in his
hand in 2018.
“I caught the group of these seven pictures in one
second. It wasn’t until I returned home and started to
choose through all my pictures that I noticed a face in
the fourth picture of the order. If a man see it in an
ordinary way, he will not see the subtle (微妙的) changes
in each wave. The waves form and fall apart in a flash.”
He added, “I would like to call the picture ‘Father
Time’ because it looks like a face rising out of the
ocean, from the bottom of the dark depths. It tells us
that our time here on earth is limited and we can’t avoid it!” It now becomes his favorite wave photograph.
Trevor continued to explain how the face was formed.“Winds strengthen (加强) as air changes in the autumn months from October to December. The result of the fight between warm and cold air creates strong winds that drive huge waves.” he said.
Yet, the reason why a face was created in this way is still unknown. Perhaps it was just an accident. Who knows?
1. Where was the photo taken ?
2. How old was Trevor when he took these pictures?
3. How long did Trevor spend in taking the group of pictures?
4. What’s the name of the photo given by Trevor?
5. What is created by the fight between warm and cold air?
