学习英语音标的重要性

现在大家都已充分认识到英语学习的重要性,但无论英语教材或英语教学法怎样改,有一样是不能变的,那就是英语音标的学习,换句话说,也就是学习英语音标是学习英语或学好英语的第一步。为什么这样说呢?理由如下:

(一)语言特性所制:(语言的起源)

从语言的起源来看,语言是在人们不断的沟通中把其中的一种或几种交流方式固定下来,久而久之就形成了语言。由此来看,语言的本质就是一种交流工具,表情达意是其主要作用,语音是其传递意义的外在形式。如果语音传递有误,则表达的意思也会产生误差。而语音相比文字来讲,则有无形化、短暂化、易失化等特性,这就要求我们在学说一种语言时,一定要准确把握它的语音,只有这样才可学会、学好一种语言。

英语的语音也就是英语音标。因其英语这种语言不同于汉语的发音规律,所以,我们在学习英语时更应把准确掌握英语音标做为学好英语的第一步。准确掌握英语音标不仅仅可以做到发音正确、表达清晰、易于别人理解待特点外,更重要的一点是:英语音标可培养我们良好的语感,使英语单词记背变得简单易行。通过音标的学习,我们掌握了发音规律和拼读规律,这样就可借助词典进行自主学习了,而摆脱了依赖老师或各种学习机的被动状况。

所以说,我们应给予重视,应及时补上音标学习这一课。

(二)学习规律所制:(语言学的理论)

上面我们已提到,语言是用来表情达意的,这项活动的完成是依赖于一定的字词和语法的。我们在学习汉语时采用的是“沉浸学习法”,即把自己完全置身于一个汉语环境,通过父母反复的强化来把握汉语的语言规律,然后再通过小学、中学、大学这样一个不断强化的过程,最后达到较好的汉语水平。

而就目前情况来看,很少家庭具备“英语环境”,这就使“沉浸学习法”无用武之地。所以,大部分中国学生在学习英语时都把单词学习放在了第一位。其实,实践证明,这种安排是合理的。因为,学生在毫无英语基础的情况下必须储备足够的英语单词,只有这样,学生才能把自己的思想情感表达出来。而单词的学习其时也就是一个音标学习的过程。例如:我们会通过音标知道某个单词如何去读,我们还会通过音标知道某个单词如何去写,最后我们知道如何通过单词的语音来表达我们的思想情感。

所以说,那种完全口语化教学或模仿式教学都会让学生变成“英语鹦鹉”,只知道模仿,老师教过的知道,老师没教的或变种说法,学生就不知所云了,这样的结果就是一方面增加了学生的英语学习负担,一方面让学生把英语学死了,成了老师的“英语附属品”。

(三)学习英语音标的优势:(具体运用)

其实从上面两点大家或许已知道了学习英语音标的益处,在此再次强调一下学习英语音标的优势:(1)让学生学习英语之处就准确地掌握了英语正确的发音,为以后口语学习打好基础。

(2)英语音标学习是通过手势、肢体动作来完成的,教学模式较为多样,课堂气氛也轻松、活泼,这样对刚入门的初学者来说,可减少学习压力,培养英语学习兴趣。

(3)通过英语音标记单词是快速记背单词的最有效的一种方法。如果学生熟练掌握了英语音标的发音规律,可做到“见其形读其音,听其音写其形”,具备了这种能力,可极大地减少学生在高年级时的英语单词记背任务感。。

(4)学习英语的最高境界就是语感的形成,学习英语音标可较早地培养学生的语感

因此,音标是听力和口语提高的前提,是学习英语的最重要的也是最基本的工具基础.
