TPO6 Task1

Talk about a photograph or painting you have seen that was memorable. Explain what you liked or disliked about it.

Ian::I can’t forget the photogragh that in my memorial netebook.it’s our high school schoolmates photo.it was taken in one summer when we graduated from high school.In the photo,I can see my all shoolmates standing in three rows. In the front row sit our teachers.They were very happy. we all got our huge smiles on our faces. But it was the last time we got together and took a pictures .

S ince then,many of us have never met again .but we didn’t know this fact at that time. It remainds me the lines in THE LIFE OF PI:All of life is an act of letting go ,but what hurts the most is no taking a moment to say goodbye.

Tpo7 Task1

If friends from another country were going to spend time in your country, what city or place would you suggest they visit? Using details and examples, explain why.

Ian::I would suggest them to visit Changsha.Changsha is the capital of Hunan province and as known as the star city for its well developed entertainment industry and tourism. There are numerous places and attractions worth recommending, and Yuelu Mountain is the first one that I’d like to introduce to them. in the foot of Yuelu Mountain is the prominent Yuelu Academy. It has an exceedingly long history and in the peak,we can have a wonderful panorama of the whole city.

Tpo8 Task1

Talk about a time a friend or a family member helped you in the past. Describe how the person helped you then explain why this was important to you. Ian::When I quiked my job and went back to changsha ,I can’t afford a single room. So I had no place to live until found the new job. There was one friend who worked in Changsha. And he lived alone in a suite . he called me to live with him in his suite for free. so I got a free and spacious place to lived. You know,it helped me solveing a big problem. Otherwise I had to lived on the street.

Tpo9 Task1

Talk about an important experience that you recently had. Describe what happened and explain why it was important to you.

Ian:: Last summer, I took part in an English summer camp. Every mumber should communicate with each other in English. All of us were very happy and excited in the camp. In addition,many activities were held in the camp such as, debate,English speech competition. But what impressed us most was the English party.Some were singing in English and others were dancing. I want to take part in it next summer.

Tpo10 Task1

Talk about a time when you accomplished something you did not think you could do. What did you accomplish? Why did you think you could not do it?

Ian:: When I was working,I also took the postgraduate entrance examination.

and I passed and I got 420 which is almost the full mark is 500. Originally I didn’t think I could get above 380 because I just got 280 when I first attended. And in preparation for the second time, I had worked and had left the campus.

I did’t have enough time to study. I also had a lot of work problems to deal with.So,you know, it was amazing.

Tpo11 Task1

Talk about an interesting book you have read. Explain why you thought the book was interesting. Give specific details and examples to explain your answer. Ian:: Recently,I read an interesting book named”LonelyPlanet”. Accurately ,it is a series of guidebooks. I am crazy about it,because I love travel .it is the first item on my bucket list that traveling all around the world. The lonely planet series has become the most important tool backpackers around the world. It has detailed national guidelines,city guidelines and district guides. The Lonely Planet series offers a detailed introduction to history,customs food and culture. So if you cant travel somewhere,just look at the Lonely Planet about there. Tpo12 Task1

What is the most efficient type of transportation in your country? Explain why you think it is efficient. Include specific reasons or examples.

Ian:: Well,there is no doubt that high-speed rail is the most efficient type of transportation in my country.because its fast ,convenient and comfortable .it’s no slower than a airplane,but much more convenient than a plane. Taking high-speed rail don’t need to check-in in advance.this saves me a lot of time. And there are no restrictions on luggage.what’s more,everytime on the high-speed rail,the phone can be opened.I can deal with my work by my iphone. Tpo13 Task1

Talk about a game, sport, or other group activity that is played in your country. Explain why you think the activity is enjoyable.

Ian::well,mahjong is one recreational game that is played in my country. It’s enjoyable because people can relax and get happy from playing mahjong. Majong is a kind of very skilled work.it’s really instereting. it’s also a tradition to playing mahjong during the spring festival. adults come to play togetheron every weekend. It can promote friendship and reduce stress. In a word,almost all Chinese love it.

People enjoy reading many different types of books such as mystery, biography, romance, etc. Of all the different types of books that there are, what type do you most enjoy? Explain why.

Ian::I enjoy travel notes most.because I love to travel .it is the first item on my bucket list that traveling all around the world.Recently,I read an interesting book named”LonelyPlanet”. it is a series of guidebooks. People make friends in many different ways. What do you think is a good way to make new friends? Use specific details and examples in your response. Ian::I think backpacking trip is a good way to make new friends. In the course of the journey, people usually can walk together. And on the train or in the youth hostels,they can share their stories or plans. During the conversation,

people start to know each other and then make friends. For example ,when I lived in YHA’s youth hostels,I played together locally with my temporary roommate.and then we shared our stories to each other. So we become friends

kinds of work at different points in their lives. Which do you think is better? Explain why.

Ian::I think people do different kinds of work at different points in their lives is better .because I think doing different kinds of work is a way to enrich your life.Take myself as an example,I became a soe engineer when I just graduated frome college.and then, I got bored and comfortable with it.so, I changed my job and went to the private company. After a year of stressful and passionate life, I suddenly wanted to pursue master’s degree.so ,you know ,now I am a postgraduate in 湖南university. Life is a long,long journey in which we go to many different places and in each place we do different things.

State whether you agree or disagree with the following statement. Then explain your reasons, using specific details in your explanation.

Learning through online courses is more effective than learning in the traditional classroom setting.

Ian:: I agree this statement.I believe that learning through online courses is more effective than learning in the traditional classroom setting. We can listsen the same online course many times until we fully understand. And then,we can learn online course on anywhere ,in the classroom,in the dormitory or in your home as long as we have a computer. What’s more,online course is really developed now. I mean,there are many interactions in oline course,sutdent can also have discussions. if a student doesn’t understand a concept or an idea, he can raise hand to ask the teacher directly.

TPO8 Task2

Some people enjoy taking risk and trying new things, others are not adventurous, they are cautious and try to avoid danger. Which behavior do you think is better? Explain why.

Ian:I think that taking risk and trying new things is better . Take myself as an example,I didn’t like long-distance running until I were a freshman.so long-distance running was a kind of new thing to me at that time.

But I tried to running a long-distance,starting at 5 km.and then I became interested in long-distance running. Later on ,I even took part in the marathon. you kown,If I ha dn’t tried to running,I wouldn’t have known the pleasure of long-distance.

TPO9 Task2

Some people think that family members are the most important influence on young adults, others believe that friends are the most important influence. Which do you agree with? Explain why.

Ian: I believe family members are the most important influence. Even if we all know that friends are always our companies. But most of us need instruchtions from family members,especially parents. we prefer give more turst to our family members in China.

Take myself as an example,my grandpa and my mom had kept a diary everyday. So do I. B ut my friends haven’t this habbit. And my classmates like to playing computer games and staying up everynight. But I have a healthy habits.

My friends might have some influence on me, but they are not the most . TPO10 Task2

Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Use details and examples to explain your answer. All children should be required to learn a second language in school.

Ian:I dissagree this statement that all children should be required to learn a second language in school for the simple reason that there are not everybody need it and not everybady like it.

Take myself as an example,I have spent a lot of time learning English. But I am not good at until now. you know,I can use this time that I spent on learning English to like playing basketball or playing the piano. What’s more,many people don’t need to use foreign language in their work. So I dissagree this statement.

TPO11 Task2

Some people think that children should be allowed to watch whatever television programs they choose to. Others think that parents should exercise control over the television programs their children watch. Which do you agree with? Explain why.

Ian: I agree with the second opinions that parents should exercise control over the television programs their children watch for the simple reason that there are

many television programs unsuitable for children. Some programs are full of violent ,horrible pictures and other some unhealthy things. It will bring wrong values to the children,which not help their growth

Take myself as an example, when I was 6-year-old, I had watched a movie that there was many people smoking and drinking everyday. Later on ,I believe smoking is a particularly correct behavior until my primary school teacher told me that’s uncool.

TPO12 Task2

Some people believe it’s essential for a person’s education to learn to play a musical instrument. Others don’t believe music education is important. Which view do you agree with? Explain why.

Ian:I think that it is not essential for a person’s education to learn to play a musical instrument for the simple reason that there are not everyone likes it. Take myself an example, I have spent a lot of time learning guitar. But I don’t like it .and I am not good at until now. I can’t read music at all. Well ,l love music,but it is not essential for me to learn to play a musical instrument. you know,I can use this time that I spent on learning how to play the guitar to playing basketball or learning a second language. it also brings me happiness. TPO13 Task2

When looking for information for a research project, some students prefer to get their information mainly from the Internet. Others prefer to mainly use printed materials such as books and academic journals. Which do you prefer and why? Ian:I prefer to use printed materials to look for information for the simple reason that the accuracy of informations that in printed materials is more higher than that in Internet. Although now we have many search engines such as baidu and google, wo just need to input key words and the results will be listed on the sceen. Well, it maybe is really convenient. But those informations is not corrcet,there are too many mistakes. So ,when I doing research project, I prefer to use printed materials.

TPO14 Task2

Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? One of the best ways to learn is by making mistakes.

Use specific examples and details to support your opinion.

Ian:yeh I agree this statement that making mistakes is one of the best ways to learn. It is said that Failure is the mother of success. If there is nothing good about failure,how can it be the mother of succsee?Through mistakes, we can learn what we don’t understand. After understanding the things we don’t know previously, we improve.

Take myself an example, when I was a high school student,my math was terrible,you know,but when I kept solveing the mistake ,I got high marks in the college entrance examination.

Ian: I agree this statement that It is important to remember and learn from the past. We all make mistakes and we all have to remember mistakes . It is said that Failure is the mother of success. If there is nothing good about failure,how can it be the mother of succsee?Through mistakes, we can learn what we don’t understand. After understanding the things we don’t know previously, we improve.

Well, the woman strongly disagrees with the proposal for two main reasons. Firstly, the problem lies in Tim's bad habits , because his partying late at night. Secondly, the woman feels that the last hour of seminar is the most worthwhile part of everything, becasue students usually get involved in the discussion and start exchanging important ideas.

Well, the woman totally disagrees with the plan for several reasons.

First of all, she believes the reason why that art major students don't want to enroll in these classes is they have not enough time to take the classes. Secondly, she thinks that money is not the problem. The university could hire a part-time professor to teach

Well, the woman disagrees with the announcement for two main reasons. Firstly, she believe that doing some basic and maeaningless tasks like typing can’t acquire leadership and oranization skills

Secondly, other universities in her area have the same requirement as her university does, which means there are lots of competitors at the same

positions. There won't be enough full-time job opportunities or positions available at all.

TPO10 Task3

Well according to the proposal, the student's suggesting that the university should display the students' paintings and other artworks at the entrance to the students' center.

However, the woman disagrees with the proposal for two main reasons.

First of all, she thinks the entrance of the students' center is crowded ,which will block the views of the displays.

Secondly, she believes that the displays need controlled lights like art museum to keep the light always at the same level instead of the natural light from windows which is changing all the time,.

Actually, the woman disagrees with the plan for some reasons.

First of all, it will cause a lot of noise ,which will disturb the students when they are trying to get some sleep or to work. so the students could possibly move out to avoid the noise, which means the campus will lose more students instead of getting more of them staying.

Secondly ,the campus housing cost will be way too much for the students to afford, so they will move out and rent an apartment for a lower price.

TPO12 Task3

The woman agrees with the that for two main reasons.

First of all, she believes that there will be more programs than there used to be, and it'll offer students more professional experience, which will give students better chance for job-hunting after graduation.

Secondly, the whole university will benefit from the plan too.

So based on the reasons stated above, the woman agrees that such a plan will help the university meeting its goals.

TPO13 Task3

Well, the woman disagrees with the plan for two main reasons.

First of all, she think the university should use the money to update the outdated lab, get more books for the library and try to enlarge the students' center.

Secondly, she also holds the point that people from the town don't come to the game of the university just because the teams of the university always lose, not because of the places of the game.

So based on the reasons stated above the woman disagrees with the plan of the university.

TPO14 Task3

Well, the proposal says that the students should be allowed to eat in their

classrooms. because first eating in the classroom will help students concentrate, and student could take food to the classroom for a party on the last day of class. However the man disagrees with the proposal for two main reasons.

First of all, he think eating in the classroom will be so distracting

Also, he argues that students won't have time for the in-class party since the last class is usually important and they should getready for the final examtion. So the man disagrees with the proposal.

TPO15 Task3

well, it said that the university should pave the dirt trail with cement However the man doesn't agree with the proposal for some reasons.

First of all, he argues that it's safer for people to run repeatedly on a trail with soft surface than on a paved one, simply because it'll do less damage and injuries to human bodies.

Besides, because students will take a break for walking on the trail, since it's more natural and students would have a chance to relax. So based on the reasons above the man disagrees with the proposal
