Y our beliefs determine your ways of life,usually we have some more concrete phrases to modify the abstracted word belief, like " the philosophy of life" or "religion". Specifically, a belief is an idea that you accept as true or factual.
Beliefs are remarkably powerful in that they are to our lives what a rudder to a ship. That is, they control the direction and destiny of our lives. If i believe i am a failure, i will set myself up to fail. If i believe i am a successful person, i will succeed, and so on. An individual's self-concept is the core of his personality. It affects every aspect of human behavior; the ability to learn ,the capacity to grow and change, the choice of friends,mates and careers. It is no exaggeration to say that a strong positive self -belief is the best preparation for success in life.
One man's belief could influence more people and even the whole world. There are two every famous examples.
The first man is president Lincoln, a man who hold the simple believe that every American, no matter what color his or her skin is should be valued only by his or her ability. That great man died as a fighter, and from then on more and more people carried his belief and go on fighting. And now we can all feel the odor of fair and freedom across the Ocean Pacific.
And what Hitler and Nazi did during the world war two is a different story. In fact, i am always feeling astonished whenever i think about one of the most sensible and shrewed race would do such unreasonable and brutal things to the world.
We can easily figure out that beliefs is a mental attitude.it is distinct from judgment, anonymous with one's knowledge and most cruel and important is that some beliefs are true and some are false.
"man is a credulous animal, and must believe some thing，" just as Russell said, "in the absence of good grounds for belief he will be satisfied with bad ones." For the sake of its great power, we should be careful respectful towards our beliefs.
